New York Yankees defeat the Angels to end losing streak


The New York Yankees defeated the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 8-4.  Jordan Montgomery started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  Austin Romine had three hits and Matt Holliday and Gary Sanchez each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Montgomery pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up five hits and two runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  He won his fifth game of the season.  Chad Green pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a walk and he had two strikeouts, Dellin Betances pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts and Tyler Clippard gave up two hits and two runs without recording an out.  Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning with a strikeout. 

Ricky Nolasco pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and five runs with five walks and five strikeouts.  He lost his ninth game of the season.  Mike Morin pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up five hits and three runs with a strikeout and Jose Alvarez pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Brett Gardner drew two walks, Aaron Hicks had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Aaron Judge had a hit.  Holliday had a hit and an RBI, Starlin Castro had a hit and an RBI and Sanchez had two hits.  Didi Gregorius had a hit and two RBI, Chase Headley had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks and Romine had three hits and two RBI.  Romine and Holliday each hit a double and Gregorius and Holliday each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 4-9 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Hicks was caught stealing and Holliday committed an error. 

Cameron Maybin drew two walks, Andrelton Simmons had three hits and Martin Maldonado had three hits and four RBI.  C.J. Cron drew a walk, Danny Espinosa had a hit and Maldonado hit a double and a homerun.  Simmons hit a double and the Angels were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Simmons had a stolen base and Maldonado was caught stealing. 

In the second Gregorius hit a two-run homerun giving the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth Maldonado hit a two-run homerun to tie the game at two.  In the fifth Holliday hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 3-2 lead.  In the sixth Romine hit a two-run double and Hicks an RBI infield single to extend the Yankees lead to 6-2.  In the seventh Castro and Headley each hit an RBI single to push the lead to 8-2.  In the ninth Maldonado hit a two-run homerun to make it a 8-4 game and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play the rubber game of the series on Thursday night.

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 8-3.  Michael Pineda started for the Yankees and he struggled early but battled through it.  The Yankees bullpen blew another game especially Tyler Clippard.  The Yankees offense only had four hits. 

Pineda pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and three runs with one of them being earned.  He walked one and struck out seven.  Chasen Shreve pitched to one batter and struck him out, Clippard lost his fourth game of the season and pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up three hits and three runs and Jonathan Holder pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up four hits and two runs with two strikeouts. 

Parker Bridwell pitched five innings giving up two hits and wo runs with five walks and three strikeouts.  Blake Parker pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout and he won his third game of the season.  Cam Bedrosian pitched pitched an inning witih two strikeouts, Keynan Middleton pitched an inning with a hit and had two strikeouts and David Hernandez pitched an inning with a strikeout. 

Aaron Hicks drew two walks, Aaron Judge had a hit and an RBI, Matt Holliday had a hit and drew a walk and Starlin Castro had a hit.  Gary Sanchez had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Chase Headley had an RBI and drew a walk and Holliday hit a double.  Judge and Sanchez each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Carter committed an error. 

Cameron Maybin had three hits and two RBI, Kole Calhoun had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Albert Pujols had two hits and an RBI.  Yunel Escobar had two hits and an RBI, Luis Valbuena had two hits and two RBI, Martin Maldonado had two hits and Danny Espinosa had a hit and an RBI.  Maybin, Espinosa, Calhoun and Maldonado each hit a double.  Escobar hit a triple and Maybin and Valbuena each hit a homerun.  The Angels were 6-13 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

In the first Pujols hit an RBI single to give the Angels a 1-0 lead.  In the second Espinosa hit an RBI double to increase the lead to 2-0.  Calhoun hit an RBI single and it was 3-0 Angels.  In the fourth Headley hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 3-1.  In the fifth Judge hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 3-2 and in the sixth Sanchez hit a solo homerun to tie the game at three.  In the seventh Maybin hit a solo homerun to give the Angels a 4-3 lead and Escobar hit an RBI triple to push the lead to 5-3.  Valbuena hit an RBI single and the lead was increased to 6-3.  In the eighth Maybin hit an RBI single to make it 7-3 and in the ninth Valbuena hit a solo homerun to make it 8-3 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Wednesday night. 

The New York Mets were defeated by the Los Angeles Dodgers in a high scoring game


The New York Mets were defeated by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday night.  The game took place at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California and the final score was 10-6.  Zach Wheeler started and he didn’t pitch well.  Jose Reyes led the offense with a couple of hits. 

Wheeler pitched two innings giving up eight hits and seven runs.  He walked none and struck out two and lost his fifth game of the season.  Rafael Montero pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up three hits and a run with two walks and five strikeouts, Josh Edgin pitched to one batter and retired him and Fernando Salas pitched an inning giving up four hits and two runs with three strikeouts.  Neil Ramirez pitched an inning giving up two hits and he walked one with two strikeouts. 

Clayton Kershaw won his tenth game of the season and pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up six hits and six runs with a walk and ten strikeouts.  Grant Dayton pitched 2/3 of an inning with a walk and Chris Hatcher pitched two innings giving up two hits and two walks with three strikeouts. 

Yoenis Cespedes had a hit, Jay Bruce had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Travis d’Arnaud had a hit and drew two walks.  Reyes had two hits and three RBI, Gavin Cecchini had a hit and two RBI and Brandon Nimmo had a hit.  Matt Reynolds had a hit, Curtis Granderson drew a walk and Reyes hit two homeruns.  Bruce and Cecchini hit a homerun and the Mets were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

Chase Utley had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Corey Seager had two hits and Justin Turner had four hits, four RBI and drew a walk.  Cody Bellinger had three hits and four RBI, Chris Taylor had two hits and an RBI and Joc Pederson had a hit and drew a walk.  Yasmani Grandal had a hit, Kershaw had a hit and Franklin Gutierrez had a hit.  Utley hit a double, Bellinger hit two homeruns and Turner and Taylor also hit a homerun.  The Dodgers were 4-12 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.  Taylor had a stolen base. 

In the first Turner hit an RBI single to give the Dodgers a 1-0 lead.  Bellinger hit a three-run homerun to push the lead to 4-0.  In the second Turner hit a two-run homerun to make it 6-0.  Bellinger hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 7-0.  In the third Reyes hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 7-1.  In the fourth Bruce hit a solo homerun to make it 7-2 Dodgers.  In the fifth Cecchini hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 7-4.  In the sixth Turner hit an RBI single to make it 8-4.  In the seventh Reyes hit a two-run homerun cutting the lead to 8-6.  Taylor hit a solo homerun in the seventh to make it 9-6 and Utley hit an RBI single to push the lead to 10-6 and that would be the final score.

The New York Mets defeated the Washington Nationals to salvage a game


The New York Mets defeated the Washington Nationals on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-1.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he pitched well.  T.J. Rivera had four hits to lead the offense. 

deGrom pitched eight innings and gave up three hits and a run which was unearned.  He walked two and struck out six and won his sixth game of the season.  Addison Reed pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Joe Ross pitched six innings giving up nine hits and four runs with two of them being earned.  He walked one and struck out four and lost his third game of the season.  Matt Grace pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and two strikeouts and Jacob Turner pitched an inning with a walk. 

Michael Conforto had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk, Jay Bruce drew a walk and Lucas Duda had two hits and drew a walk.  Curtis Granderson had a hit and an RBI, T. Rivera had four hits and Travis d’Arnaud had a hit and deGrom had a hit and an RBI.  T. Rivera hit a double and Duda hit a double.  deGrom hit a homerun and the Mets were 4-11 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.  Conforto had a stolen base and Flores committed an error.  d’Arnaud had a passed ball. 

Trea Turner had a hit and drew a walk, Bryce Harper had a hit and drew a walk and Ryan Zimmerman had an RBI.  Daniel Murphy had a hit, Stephen Drew had a hit and Murphy hit a double and the Nationals were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Turner had four stolen bases and Wieters commited an error and Taylor had an outfield assist. 

In the first Zimmerman hit a sac fly to give the Nationals a 1-0 lead.  In the third deGrom hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the fourth d’Arnaud hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 2-1 lead, Conforto hit an RBI single to push the lead to 3-1.  In the sixth Conforto hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 4-1.  In the seventh Granderson hit an RBI single to make it a 5-1 game and that was the final score.

New York Yankees are swept in Oakland


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Oakland Athletics on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Oakland County Coliseum in Oakland, California and the final score was 4-3.  Luis Cessa started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch great, the bullpen was good.  Brett Gardner and Didi Gregorius each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Cessa pitched four innings and gave up five hits and four runs.  He walked one and struck out four and took his first loss of the season.  Chad Green pitched two innings and gave up two hits and he struck out two, Tyler Clippard pitched an inning with a walk and Aroldis Chapman pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Jharel Cotton pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up six hits and three runs with a walk and six strikeouts.  He won his fourth game of the season.  Daniel Coulombe pitched to two batters and retired them both, one of them was a strikeout, Ryan Madson pitched a perfect inning and Sean Doolittle saved his third game of the season pitching a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Gardner had two hits, Aaron Judge had a hit and an RBI and Matt Holliday had a hit and an RBI.  Gregorius had two hits and an RBI, Chris Carter drew a walk and Gardner hit a double and Holliday and Gregorius each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Gardner had a stolen base and Headley was caught stealing. 

Matt Joyce had two hits and drew a walk, Chad Pinder had a hit and two RBI and Jed Lowrie drew a walk.  Khris Davis had two hits and two RBI, Jaycob Brugman had a hit and Josh Phegley had a hit.  Joyce, Pinder and Davis each hit a double and Davis hit a homerun.  The Athletics were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Brugman was caught stealing, Pinder committed an error. 

In the second Holliday hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the third Judge hit an RBI single to push their lead to 2-0.  In the third PInder hit a two-run double to tie the game at two.  Davis hit a two-run homerun and it was 4-2 Athletics.  In the fourth Gregorius hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 4-3 and that would be the final score. 
The Yankees were swept all four games in Oakland and have lost six games in a row.  They will have the day off Monday before opening a three game set at home against the Anaheim

New York Mets lose to the Washington Nationals


The New York Mets were defeated by the Washington Nationals on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 7-4.  Seth Lugo started for the Mets and he pitched ok.  Yoenis Cespedes had four hits and Jay Bruce had three hits to lead the offense. 

Lugo pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and four runs with three of them being earned.  He walked two and struck out five and lost his first game of the season.  Jerry Blevins pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run, Paul Sewald pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts and Addison Reed pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk. 

Stephen Strasburg pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up six hits and two runs with two walks and five strikeouts and he won his eighth game of the season.  Blake Treinen pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out one, Matt Grace pitched to one batter and retired him and Joe Blanton pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs.  Enny Romero pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up three hits and he struck out one and earned his second save of the season.

In the first Turner hit a solo homerun to give the Nats a 1-0 lead.  In the second Lobaton hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 2-0.  Murphy hit an RBI double in the third to extend the lead to 3-0.  Turner reached on a throwing error and a run scored to make it 4-0 in the fourth.  Flores hit into a double play and a run scored in the bottom of the fourth to cut the lead to 4-1.  In the bottom of the sixth Flores hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 4-2.  Lind hit a two-run homerun in the eighth to extend the lead to 6-2 and in the bottom of the eighth Cespedes hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 6-3.  Reyes hit an RBI single and it was 6-4.  In the ninth Rendon hit an RBI double to make it 7-4 and that was the final score.  The two teams will play the fourth and final game of the series on Sunday with the Mets trying to even the series.

The New York Mets were defeated by the Washington Nationals on Friday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 7-2.  Steven Matz started for the Mets and he pitched ok.  Jay Bruce and Jose Reyes each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Matz pitched seven innings giving up eight hits and four runs.  He walked none and struck out four and took his first loss of the season.  Paul Sewald pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts, Fernando Salas pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up three hits and three runs with two walks and a strikeout and Neil Ramirez pitched 1/3 of an inning and gave up a walk. 

Max Scherzer pitched eight innings giving up four hits and a run.  He walked two and struck out ten and won his eighth game of the season.  Sean Kelley pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run.

Trea Turner had a hit, Ryan Raburn had a hit and Bryce Harper had three hits and an RBI.  Ryan Zimmerman had a hit and an RBI, Daniel Murphy had a hit and drew two walks and Anthony Rendon had two hits, three RBI and drew a walk.  Matt Wieters had a hit and an RBI, Michael Taylor had two hits and an RBI and Adam Lind drew a walk.  Turner, Murphy and Harper each hit a double and Wieters, Taylor and Rendon each hit a homerun.  The Nationals were 5-14 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Taylor had a stolen base. 

In the third Wieters hit a solo homerun to give the Nats a 1-0 lead.  Taylor hit a solo homerun and it was 2-0.  In the sixth Rendon hit a two-run homerun to push the lead to 4-0 Nationals.  In the eighth Reyes hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 4-1.  In the ninth Harper hit an RBI single and Zimmerman hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 6-1 Nationals.  Rendon drew an RBI walk to make it 7-1 and in the bottom of the ninth Bruce hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 7-2 and that would be the final score. 


Yankees lose third straight game to the Oakland A's


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Oakland Athletics on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Oakland County Coliseum in Oakland, California and the final score was 5-2.  Masahiro Tanaka started and he didn’t pitch well.  Domingo German pitched well out of the bullpen and Ronald Torreyes had two hits to lead the offense. 
Tanaka pitched four innings giving up eight hits and five runs with a walk and ten strikeouts.  He lost his seventh game of the season.  German pitched four innings giving up four hits and no runs with three walks and six strikeouts. 

Jesse Hahn pitched five innings giving up three hits and two runs.  He walked three and struck out six and won his third game of the season.  Liam Hendriks pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts, Josh Smith pitched a perfect inning and Ryan Madson pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.  Sean Doolittle saved his second game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and he struck out the side.

In the first Joyce hit a solo homerun giving the A’s a 1-0 lead.  In the second Romine hit an RBI single and Gardner hit a sac fly to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  In the bottom of the second Healy hit a solo homerun to tie the game at two.  In the fourth Healy hit another solo homerun to give the A’s a 3-2 lead.  Rosales hit an RBI single and Lowrie hit an RBI single and it was 5-2 A’s and that would be the final score. 

The Yankee and A’s will play the final game of their four-game series on Sunday afternoon.  The Yankees will try and salvage one game.

New York Yankees blow lead to A's and lose fourth straight game


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Oakland Athletics on Friday night.  The game took place at Oakland County Coliseum in Oakland, California and the final score was 7-6.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees and had a bad second inning but otherwise he pitched well.  The Yankees bullpen once again wasn’t very good and the offense got two hits from Aaron Judge, Starlin Castro and Ronald Torreyes. 

Severino pitched six innings giving up four hits and four runs with four walks and six strikeouts.  Chasen Shreve pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout and Jonathan Holder pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with two walks and he took his first loss of the season and blew his second save of the season. 

Sean Manaea pitched six innings giving up eight hits and five runs with two walks and seven strikeouts.  Josh Smith pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout, Daniel Coulombe pitched 1 1/3 innings with a strikeout and he earned his first win of the season and Santiago Casilla pitched an inning with a walk and he struck out the side and earned his 11th save of the season. 

Rob Refsnyder had a hit, Judge had two hits, three RBI and drew two walks and Matt Holliday drew two walks.  Castro had two hits and an RBI, Chris Carter had a hit and an RBI and Chase Headley had a hit.  Torreyes had two hits, Mason Williams had a hit and an RBI and Torreyes hit a double and Judge hit a triple and a homerun.  Carter also hit a homerun and the Yankees were 3-8 with seven runners left on base. 

Matt Joyce had two hits and drew a walk, Chad Pinder had a hit and two RBI and Khris Davis drew a walk.  Yonder Alonso drew two walks, Ryan Healy had a hit and Steven Vogt had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks.  Matt Chapman had a hit and three RBI, Jaycob Brugman had a hit and an RBI and Rajai Davis drew a walk.  Vogt and Healy each hit a double and the A’s were 4-9 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Vogt had a passed ball. 

In the second Vogt hit an RBI double to give the A’s a 1-0 lead.  Chapman hit an RBI ground out to extend the lead to 2-0.  Brugman hit an RBI single to make it 3-0 and Pinder hit an RBI single to push the lead to 4-0.  In the third Judge hit a three-run homerun to cut the lead to 4-3.  In the fifth Williams hit an RBI single to tie the game at four.  In the sixth Carter hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 5-4 lead and in the seventh increased it to 6-4 on a Castro RBI single.  In the seventh Pinder hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 6-5.  In the eighth Chapman hit a two-run single to give Oakland a 7-6 lead and that would be the final score. 
The two teams will play game three of four on Saturday afternoon.

New York Yankees drop a back and forth affair in Oakland


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Oakland Athletics on Thursday night.  The game took place at Oakland County Coliseum in Oakland, California and the final score was 8-7 in ten innings.  Jordan Montgomery started for the Yankees and he pitched ok, the bullpen wasn’t very good.  Starlin Castro and Gary Sanchez had three hits each to lead the offense. 

Montgomery pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and four runs.  He walked one and struck out five.  Chad Green pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout, Tyler Clippard pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout and Dellin Betances pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and two walks with three strikeouts.  Giovanny Gallegos pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout and he took his first loss of the season and first blown save of the season. 

Sonny Gray started for the A’s and he pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up eight hits and three runs with three walks and six strikeouts.  Sean Doolittle pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts, Ryan Madson pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout and John Axford pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout.  Daniel Coulombe pitched to two batters and retired them both, Santiago Casilla pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and two strikeouts and Liam Hendricks pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a  walk and two strikeouts and he won his third game of the season.

Rajai Davis had a hit, Chad Pinder had three hits and an RBI and Jed Lowrie had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Khris Davis had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Yonder Alonso had two hits and an RBI and Ryan Healy had a hit.  Matt Chapman drew two walks, Josh Phegley had a hit and Steven Vogt drew a walk.  Adam Rosales had a hit and two RBI, Matt Joyce had a hit and an RBI and Phegley, Rosales and Pinder each hit a double.  Lowries hit a triple and a homerun and Alonso also hit a homerun.  The A’s were 3-11 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base. 

In the first Lowrie hit a solo homerun to give the A’s a 1-0 lead.  In the second Rosales hit a two-run double to push the lead to 3-0.  In the sixth Headley hit a two-run single cutting the lead to 3-2.  Carter hit an RBI single to tie the game at three.  In the bottom of the sixth Alonso hit a solo homerun to give the A’s a 4-3 lead.  In the seventh Sanchez hit an RBI double to tie the game at four.  In the bottom of the seventh Pinder hit an RBI single to give Oakland back the lead at 5-4, in the eighth Carter hit a solo homerun to tie the game at five and in the bottom of the eighth Joyce grounded into a force out to give Oakland back the lead at 6-5.  In the ninth Sanchez hit an RBI single to tie the game at six and in the tenth Castro hit a sac fly to give the Yankees a 7-6 lead.  In the bottom of the tenth Davis hit a two-run walk-off single to give Oakland a 8-7 victory. 

The Yankees have lost three games in a row and will play game two of the four game set with Oakland on Friday night.
