The New York Yankees lose a game to the Minnesota Twins


The Minnesota Twins defeated the New York Yankees on Saturday afternoon. The final score was 4-1 Minnesota and the game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York. Phil Hughe started and pitched pretty well but was the victim of the long ball. Shawn Kelley pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and striking out one and Joba Chamberlain walked one in his one inning of work.

Brett Gardner had a hit, Ichiro Suzuki had two hits and Robinson Cano had a hit and an RBI. Vernon Wells had a hit, Lyle Overbay drew a walk and Zoilo Almonte had a hit and drew a walk. Hefner had a hit and Austin Romine had a hit and drew a walk. Suzuki and Travis Hafner each hit a double. The Yankees were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.

Samuel Deduno pitched seven innings giving up six hits and and a run with three walks and three strikeouts. Deduno earned his fifth win of the season, Casey Fien pitched an inning giving up a hit and Glen Perkins saved his 21st game of the season. Perkins pitched an inning giving up a hit.

Joe Mauer had two hits, Ryan Doumit had a hit and an RBI and Trevor Plouffe had a hit and an RBI. Chris Parmalee drew a walk, Aaron Hicks had a hit and Pedro Florimon had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk. Mauer hit a double, Plouffe hit a homerun, Doumit and Florimon each hit a homerun. The Pirates were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.

Cano hit an RBI single in the first to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead. In the second Plouffe hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one. In the seventh Doumit hit a solo homerun to make it a 2-1 game in favor of the Twins. Florimon hit a two run homerun in the eighth to make it a 4-1 game. 4-1 would be the final score.

The Yankees record dropped to 51-43 and the Twins record would be 38-53. The Yankees had won the previous five meeting this year.

The New York Mets lose in extras to the Pittsburgh Pirates


The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the New York Mets on Saturday night. The final score was 3-2 and the game took place at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Jeremy Hefner started and pitched well, the bullpen was pretty good. Eric Young Jr., Daniel Murphy and David Wright each had three hits.

Hefner pitched seven innings giving up three hits and two runs. He struck out three, David Aardsma pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout, Scott Rice struck out the only batter that he faced and Greg Burke walked the only batter that he faced. Josh Edgin pitched 11/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk and Gonzalez Germen took the lost his first of the season. Germen pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with two walks and two strikeouts.

Young Jr. had two hits, Murphy had two hits and Wright had two hits and an RBI. Ike Davis drew a walk, Kirk Nieuwenhuis had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Anthony Recker had a hit. Juan Lagares had a hit, Wright and Young each hit a double and Nieuwenhuis hit a homerun. The Mets were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. Young was caught stealing.

Charlie Morton pitched seven innings giving up six hits and two runs. He walked one and struck out four. Mark Melancon pitched an inning giving up a hit and striking out two, Jason Grilli pitched an inning giving up a walk and striking out one and Tony Watson pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits. Bryan Morris pitched to one batter and retired him and Vin Mazzaro won his fifth game of the season pitching an inning and striking out two.

Starling Marte had two hits and drew a walk, Jose Tabata had a hit and Andrew McCutchen drew two walks. Pedro Alvarez had a hit and two RBI, Russell Martin drew two walks and Jordy Mercer had a hit and an RBI. Clint Barmes had a hit, Marte hit two doubles and Alvarez hit a homerun. The Pirates were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. McCutchen had a stolen base.

Alvarez hit a two run homerun in the first to give the Pirates a 2-0 lead. Wright hit an RBI single in the sixth to cut the lead to 2-1. In the seventh Nieuwenhuis hit a solo homerun to tie the game at two. Mercer hit an RBI single in the 11th to give the Pirates the 3-2 victory.

The Mets record fell to 40-49 and the Pirates record improved to 55-36. The two teams will play game two of there three game set on Saturday night.

The New York Yankees defeated the Minnesota Twins on Friday night. The final score was 2-0 and the game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York. Hiroki Kuroda started and pitched well and the pen was great. Brett Gardner and Robinson Cano had an RBI for the Yankees.

Kuroda pitched five innings giving up no runs on six hits. He walked two and struck out five and won his eighth game of the season. Preston Claiborne pitched an inning giving up two hits and struck out one, Boone Logan pitched an inning striking out the sides and David Robertson pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts. Mariano Rivera saved his 30th game of the season pitching a perfect inning with a strikeout. Rivera set the all-time mark with 15 seasons of at least 30 saves passing Trevor Hoffman.

Brett Gardner had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Ichiro Suzuki drew a walk and Robinson Cano had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks. Wells hit a double and the Yankees were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. Gardner had a stolen base and Cano was picked off.

Scott Diamond pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up a hit and no runs. He walked three and struck out one. Ryan Pressly pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a strikeout. Pressly lost his second game of the season, Brian Duensing pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a walk, Jared Burton pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two walks and a strikeout and Casey Fien pitched an inning giving up a hit and struck out two.

Dozier had two hits, Joe Mauer had two hits and drew a walk and Justin Morneau had a hit and drew a walk. Trevor Plouffe had two hits, Florimon had a hit and Dozier and Mauer each hit a double. The Twins were 0-12 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base. Hicks had an outfield assist and Duensing had a pickoff.

In the fifth inning the Yankees scored the only two runs of the game. Gardner had an RBI single and Cano hit an RBI single. The Yankees pitching held the Twins off the board and preserved the 2-0 lead.

The Yankees have now won three straight and improved their record to 51-42. The Twins record fell to 37-53. The two teams will play game two of their three game series on Saturday afternoon.

The Yankees earn a split with K.C. in captain’s return


The New York Yankees defeated the Kansas City Royals on Thursday afternoon. The final score was 8-4 and the game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York. Andy Pettitte started and struggled early again and then settled down. The bullpen was very good and Jeter had a hit, an RBI and a run scored.

Pettitte gave up four runs and three earned in 5 2/3 innings. He gave up eight hits and a walk with a strikeout. Pettitte won his seventh game of the season, Shawn Kelley pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and striking out two, Dave Robertson pitched an inning giving up a hit and striking out the sides and Boone Logan pitched a perfect inning.

Ichiro Suzuki had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Jeter had a hit, and an RBI and Robinson Cano had a hit and drew a walk. Vernon Wells had an RBI and drew a walk, Lyle Overbay had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Zoilo Almonte had two hits and an RBI. Eduardo Nunez had two hits and an RBI, Luis Cruz had a hit and Austin Romine had two hits and an RBI. Romine hit a double and the Yankees were 5-11 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. Suzuki had a stolen base; Pettitte and Nunez each committed an error.

Ervin Santana took his sixth loss of the season. He pitched five innings giving up ten hits and eight runs. Santana walked three and struck out four. Tim Collins pitched a perfect inning, Donnie Joseph pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and drew a walk and Louis Coleman pitched 1 2/3 innings striking out four.

Alex Gordon had a hit, Alcides Escobar had two hits and an RBI and Eric Hosmer had a hit. Billy Butler drew a walk, Salvador Perez had a hit and two RBI and Lorenzo Cain had a hit and an RBI. Johnny Giavotella had a hit, David Lough had three hits and Perez hit a double. The Royals were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. Cain had an outfield assist.

In the first the Royals scored three runs to take a 3-0 lead. Perez hit a two run double and Cain hit a sacrifice fly. In the bottom of the first Jeter had an infield single and came around to score on a sacrifice fly by Wells. It was 3-1 Royals. The Royals made it a 4-1 game in the second. Escobar hit an RBI single and in the bottom of the inning the Yankees scored two runs to make it 4-3. Romine hit an RBI double and Suzuki an RBI single. In the fifth the Yankees took the lead for good. Overbay hit a two run single to make it 5-4 Yankees and Almonte hit an RBI single and Nunez hit an RBI single to make it a 7-4 game. The Yankees would score the final run of the game in the sixth. Jeter hit an RBI groundout and then he came out of the game in the eighth with a sore quadriceps. He will go for an MRI, it seems to be minor.

The Yankees have now won two in a row and split the four game series. They improved their record to 50-42 and the Royals record dropped to 43-46. The Yankees will begin a three game series at home against the Minnesota Twins on Friday night.

The New York Mets sweep the San Francisco Giants


The New York Mets defeated the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday afternoon. The final score was 7-2 and the game took place at AT+T Park in San Francisco, California. Zack Wheeler started for the Mets and pitched well and Marlon Byrd hit another homerun.

Wheeler pitched seven innings giving up three hits and a run. He walked three and struck out five and earned his third win of the season. Josh Edgin pitched an inning giving up a hit and striking out one and LaTroy Hawkins pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run.

Eric Young Jr. drew two walks, Daniel Murphy had two hits and two RBI and David Wright had a hit and drew a walk. Ike Davis had a hit and drew a walk, Byrd had a hit and two RBI and Kirk Nieuwenhuis drew a walk. John Buck had two hits and two RBI, Omar Quintanilla drew a walk and Wheeler had a hit and an RBI. Buck, Wheeler and Murphy each hit a double and Byrd hit a homerun. The Mets were 4-11 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. Young Jr. had a stolen base.

Matt Cain pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and three runs. He walked three and struck out one and lost his sixth game of the season. Mike Kickham pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up five hits and four runs with three walks and six strikeouts, George Kontos pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Jeremy Affeldt pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. Javier Lopez gave up a hit and struck out one in one inning of work.

Kensuke Tanaka had a hit, Buster Posey had a hit and Pablo Sandoval had a hit and drew a walk. Brandon Belt had a hit and drew two walks, Tony Abreu had an RBI and Brandon Crawford had two hits and an RBI. Belt hit a triple and the Giants were 1-2 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. Posey and Crawford each committed an error.

In the first the Mets took a 3-0 lead. Murphy hit an RBI single and Buck hit a two run single. Byrd hit a two run homerun in the fifth to make it a 5-0 game and in the sixth they made it 7-0. Wheeler and Murphy each hit an RBI double. In the seventh Crawford hit an RBI single and in the ninth Abreu hit a sacrifice fly to make it 7-2. 7-2 would be the final score.

The Mets won their third straight sweeping the series. The Mets record improved to 40-48 and the Giants record fell to 40-50. The Mets will have off on Thursday and then begin a three game weekend series in Pittsburgh.

The New York Yankees score some runs and win


The New York Yankees defeated the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday night. The final score was 8-1 and the game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York. Ivan Nova started for the Yankees and pitched great. Robinson Cano and Lyle Overbay powered the Yankees offense each hitting a homerun.

Nova pitched eight innings giving up one run on five hits. He walked two and struck out six and earned his fourth win of the season. Joba Chamberlain gave up a hit in his one inning of work.

Brett Gardner drew two walks, Ichiro Suzuki had a hit and Cano had three hits and three RBI. Vernon Wells had two hits, Zoilo Almonte drew a walk and Overbay had a hit and four RBI. Eduardo Nunez had a hit, Luis Cruz had a hit and Cano hit a double and a homerun. Overbay hit a homerun and the Yankees were 3-7 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. Gardner and Cano each had a stolen base.

Wade Davis pitched five innings giving up six hits and eight runs. He walked three and struck out six and took his eighth loss of the season. J.C. Gutierrez pitched two innings giving up three hits and Louis Coleman pitched a perfect inning with three strikeouts.

Alex Gordon drew a walk, Alcides Escobar drew a walk and Eric Hosmer had two hits and an RBI. Billy Butler had a hit, Lorenzo Cain had a hit and Johnny Giavotella had a hit. In the first the Yankees scored on a wild pitch to make it 1-0. Cano hit a three run homerun in the third to make it 4-0 Yankees. Overbay hit a grand slam to make it 8-0 in the sixth. In the eighth the Royals scored their only run on a Hosmer RBI double.

The Yankees ended their three game losing streak and improved their record to

49-42. The Royals record fell to 43-45. The two teams will play the final game of their four game series on Thursday afternoon.

The New York Mets outlast the San Francisco Giants


The New York Mets defeated the San Francisco Giants on Monday night/Tuesday morning. The game started on Monday night but was over in the wee hours of the morning Tuesday on the east coast. The final score was 4-3 and the game took place at AT+T Park in San Francisco, California. Matt Harvey started and labored but kept his team in it. The Mets bullpen was really good and Marlon Byrd and Eric Young Jr. led the offense with two hits each.

Harvey pitched seven innings and gave up six hits and and three runs. He walked one and struck out six. Carlos Torres pitched two innings giving up a hit and striking out two, David Aardsma pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk and struck out three and Scott Rice pitched 1/3 of an inning retiring the only batter that he faced. Greg Burke pitched two innings giving up four hits and a walk with two strikeouts, Josh Edgin won his first game of the season pitching two innings and giving up a hit and two walks and Bobby Parnell saved his 16th game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts.

Young Jr. had two hits, Daniel Murphy had a hit and an RBI and David Wright had a hit and drew three walks. Ike Davis had a hit, Byrd had two hits and Kirk Nieuwenhuis had a hit. John Buck had a hit and an RBI, Omar Quintanilla drew a walk and Buck hit a double. Young Jr. hit a triple and the Mets were 1-9 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. Tim Lincecum pitched seven innings giving up six hits and three runs. He walked a batter and struck out 11. Jeremy Affeldt pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a walk and striking out one, Sergio Romo pitched an inning striking out one and Jose Mijares pitched 2/3 of an inning striking out one. Sandy Rosario pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk, Jake Dunning pitched two innings giving up a hit and striking out three and George Kontos picked up his second loss of the season pitching 2 2/3 innings giving up a hit and an unearned run with two strikeouts. Javier Lopez pitched 1/3 of an inning walking one.

Gregory Blanco had a hit, Marco Scutaro had three hits and drew a walk and Buster Posey had five hits and two RBI. Pablo Sandoval had a hit and drew a walk, Hunter Pence had a hit and Crawford had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk. Andres Torres drew two walks, Gillespie drew a walk and Posey hit two doubles. Crawford hit a double, Pence hit a triple and Posey hit a homerun. The Giants were 1-15 with runners in scoring position and left 18 men on base. That is hard to believe, they left a small army on the bases. Scutaro and Crawford each committed an error and Affeldt had a pickoff.

Posey hit a two run homerun in the first to give the Giants a 2-0 lead. Buck hit an RBI double in the fifth to make it 2-1 Giants. In the sixth Murphy hit an RBI single to tie the game at two and Davis grounded into a double play scoring a run and giving the Mets a 3-2 lead. Crawford hit an RBI single to tie the game at three in the seventh. The game stayed that way until the 16th when Anthony Recker reached on an error and a run scored to make it 4-3. The Giants failed to score in the bottom half of the 16th and that is how the game ended.

The Mets improved their record to 38-48 and the Giants fell to 40-48. The two teams will play game two of their three game series on Tuesday night.

The Mets beat the Brewers 2-1 to finish series


The New York Mets defeated the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday afternoon. The game took place at Miller Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and the final score was 2-1. Jeremy Hefner started for the Mets and pitched very well. Josh Satin led the offense with three hits.

Hefner pitched seven innings giving up two hits and a run. He walked one and struck out eight and earned his fourth win of the season. Josh Edgin pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and Bobby Parnell saved his 15th game of the season. Parnell pitched a 1 1/3 innings giving up a walk.

Eric Young Jr. had a couple of hits, /Daniel Murphy had a hit and David Wright had two hits. Marlon Byrd had two hits, Satin had three hits and an RBI and Andrew Brown had a hit and drew a walk. Hefner drew a walk; Satin hit two doubles and the Mets were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. Satin and Young each had a stolen base.

Tom Gorzelanny took his second loss of the season. He pitched six innings giving up eight hits and two runs, none of them earned. He walked none and struck out eight, Michael Gonzalez pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk and Brandon Kintzler pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk. John Axford pitched an inning giving up a hit and striking out one.

Norichika Aoki had a hit, Carlos Gomez drew a walk and Jonathan Lucroy had a hit and an RBI. Juan Francisco drew a walk, Sean Halton had a hit and Lucroy hit a homerun. The Brewers were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. Gomez and Aoki each had a stolen base and Francisco committed two errors.

In the fourth Brown hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 1-0 lead. In the sixth Satin hit an RBI double to make it a 2-0 game. The Brewers scored a run in the seventh on a Lucroy solo homerun to make it 2-1. 2-1 would be the final score.

The Mets record improved to 37-48 and the Brewers record fell to 35-52. The Mets will head to San Francisco to begin a three game series on Monday night.

The New York Yankees lose 2-1 as Mariano Rivera blows a save

The New York Yankees lost to the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday afternoon. The final score was 2-1 and the game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York. Hiroki Kuroda made the start and was great; Mariano Rivera blew his second save of the season. Eduardo Nunez had another good game as he returns from injury.

Kuroda pitched seven shutout innings. He gave up three hits and and a walk with four strikeouts. David Robertson pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Rivera pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs with an intentional walk and a strikeout.

Robinson Cano had a hit and drew a walk, Travis Hafner had a hit and Zoilo Almonte drew a walk. Lyle Overbay had a hit, Nunez had a hit and an RBI and Chris Stewart had two hits and drew a walk. The Yankees were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. Stewart had a stolen base.

Jason Hammel pitched five innings giving up six hits and a run. He walked two and struck out four. T.J. McFarland pitched two innings giving up a walk and struck out one, Troy Patton pitched to one batter and retired him and Darren O’Day pitched 2/3 of an inning striking out one and earned his fifth win of the season. Jim Johnson saved his 30th game of the season pitching an inning and striking out two.

Nick Markakis had three hits, Adam Jones had a hit and two RBI and Matt Wieters had two hits and drew a walk. J.J. Hardy drew a walk, Wieters hit two doubles and Markakis hit a double. Jones hit a homerun and the Orioles were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.

Nunez hit a sacrifice fly in the second to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead. In the ninth Jones hit a two run homerun to give the Orioles a 2-1 lead and that would be the final score.

The Yankees six game winning streak ended and their record fell to 48-40. The Orioles record improved to 49-40. The Yankees begin a four game series with the Kansas City Royals on Monday night. The games will be at Yankee Stadium.

The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday afternoon. The final score was 5-4 and the game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York. Andy Pettitte started and was shaky, the bullpen was good. Lyle Overbay and Eduardo Nunez in his return led the Yankees offense.

Pettitte pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up nine hits and four runs with three of them being earned. He walked none and struck out four. Pettitte won his sixth game of the season, Shawn Kelley pitched 1/3 of an inning and struck out one, David Robertson pitched an inning giving up a hit and struck out one and Mariano Rivera pitched an inning giving up a hit and struck out one. Rivera saved his 29th game of the season.

Ichiro Suzuki had a hit and an RBI, Robinson Cano had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Travis Hafner drew a walk. Zoilo Almonte had a hit, Overbay had three hits and Luis Cruz had a hit and an RBI. In the first Davis hit a two run homerun to give the Orioles a 2-0 lead. Casilla hit an RBI double in the second to extend the Baltimore lead to 3-0. In the second Cruz hit an RBI single and Nunez hit a sacrifice fly to make it 3-2. Teagarden hit an RBI single in the fourth to make it a 4-2 game. In the bottom of the fifth Suzuki hit an RBI single and Cano hit an RBI single to tie the game at four. Nunez hit an RBI single in the sixth to make it a 5-4 game. The final score was 5-4 Yankees.

The Yankees won their sixth straight and improved their record to 48-39. The Orioles record fell to 48-40. The two teams will play on Sunday afternoon with the Yankees looking for the three game sweep.

The Mets lose 7-6 in Milwaukee in a wild game

The New York Mets lost to the Milwaukee Brewers by the score of 7-6 on Saturday afternoon. The game took place at Miller Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Shaun Marcum started for the Mets and did not pitch well. Daniel Murphy and John Buck led the Mets offense.

Marcum pitched five innings giving up 11 hits and six runs. He walked one and struck out three and took his 10th loss of the season. LaTroy Hawkins pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run with two walks and Greg Burke pitched a perfect inning.

Yovani Gallardo pitched six innings giving up six hits and four runs. He walked three and struck out six and earned his seventh win of the season. John Axford pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk, Jim Henderson pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk and Gonzalez pitched 1/3 of an inning retiring the only batter that he faced. Francisco Rodriguez earned his eighth save of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and a run with three strikeouts.

Norichika Aoki had two hits and an RBI, Jean Segura had a hit and two RBI and Carlos Gomez drew a walk. Aramis Ramirez drew a walk, Jonathan Lucroy had two hits and two RBI and Rickie Weeks had two hits and drew a walk. Logan Schafer had three hits and an RBI, Gallardo had two hits and a double. Schafer hit a double, Lucroy hit a homerun and the Brewers were 4-10 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. Gomez and Weeks each had a stolen base and Weeks was caught stealing.

Lucroy hit an RBI single in the first giving the Brewers a 1-0 lead. In the second Aoki hit an RBI single and Segura hit a sacrifice fly to make it a 3-0 game. Lucroy hit a solo homerun to make it 4-0 in the third. In the fourth Segura hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 5-0 Brewers. Buck hit a solo homerun in the fifth and Murphy hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 5-2. In the sixth Buck hit a two run single cutting the lead to 5-4. In the bottom of the sixth Gallardo hit a sacrifice bunt, which resulted in an error and a run scoring to make it 6-4 Brewers. Byrd hit a sacrifice fly in the seventh making it 6-5 Brewers and then Schafer hit an RBI double in the seventh making it 7-5. Byrd hit a solo homerun in the ninth to make it 7-6 but that was the final score.

The Mets record dropped to 36-48 and the Brewers record improved to 35-51. The two teams will play on Sunday afternoon.
