New York Mets are beat by the Baltimore Orioles

 

The New York Mets were defeated by the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland and the final score was 10-3.  David Peterson started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch well.  The Mets offense only managed four hits. 

Peterson pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up eight hits and four runs with a walk and four strikeouts.  Peterson lost his fifth game of the season.  Robert Gsellman pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up four hits and four runs with a walk and a strikeout, Jacob Barnes pitched an inning giving up three hits and a run with a strikeout and Drew Smith pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run with a walk and three strikeouts. 

Bruce Zimmermann started for the Orioles and he pitched five innings giving up two hits and two runs with two walks and seven strikeouts.  He won his fourth game of the season.  Hunter Harvey pitched an inning giving up a hit, Tyler Wells pitched two perfect innings with a strikeout and Travis Lakins Sr. pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout. 

Francisco Lindor drew a walk, James McCann had a hit and Pete Alonso had two hits and three RBI.  Dom Smith had a hit, Kevin Pillar drew a walk and Alonso hit two homeruns.  The Mets left two men on base. 

Cedric Mullins had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Trey Mancini had two hits and an RBI and Anthony Santander had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Ryan Mountcastle had a hit and an RBI, Freddy Galvis had three hits and Pedro Severino had two hits and drew a walk.  Maikel Franco had two hits and three RBI, Pat Valaika had two hits and three RBI and Franco hit a double.  Valaika hit two doubles and Mullins hit two doubles.  Galvis and Santander also each hit a double.  Franco and Santander each hit a homerun and the Orioles were 7-16 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. 

In the first Alonso hit a two-run homerun to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.  In the second Valaika hit a two-run double to tie the game at two.  Mullins hit an RBI double and the Orioles grabbed a 3-2 lead.  In the third Valaika hit an RBI double and in the fourth Mancini hit an RBI single to make it a 5-2 game.  In the bottom of the fifth Franco hit a three-run homerun pushing the lead to 8-2.  In the bottom of the sixth Mountcastle hit an RBI single extending the lead to 9-2.  In the bottom of the eighth Santander hit a solo homerun and it was 10-2.  In the ninth Alonso hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 10-3 and that would be the final score.   

New York Yankees defeat the Minnesota Twins as bats stay on fire

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota and the final score was 9-6.  Gerrit Cole started for the Yankees and pitched well and the offense continued to roll.  Giancarlo Stanton led the offense with three hits and five RBI and Brett Gardner also had three hits. 

Cole pitched six innings giving up five hits and two runs.  He walked none and struck out nine.  He won his seventh game of the season.  Luis Cessa pitched two innings giving up two hits and no runs and he struck out one and Brooks Kriske pitched an inning giving up four hits and four runs. 

Randy Dobnak started for the Twins and he pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up 11 hits and eight runs with three walks.  Griffin Jax pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up three hits and a run with two strikeouts and Alex Colome pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two batters. 

Aaron Judge had two hits and an RBI, Gleyber Torres drew two walks and Stanton had three hits and five RBI.  Gio Urshela had two hits and drew a walk, Roughned Odor had a hit and Miguel Andujar had two hits and two RBI.  Kyle Higashioka had two hits and Gardner had three hits and an RBI.  Stanton, Judge and Odor each hit a double and Gardner hit two doubles.  Judge and Andujar each hit a homerun and Stanton hit two homeruns.  The Yankees were 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Wade committed an error.

Jorge Polanco had two hits and three RBI, Trevor Larnach had a hit and Nelson Cruz had a hit.  Alex Kirilloff had two hits, Miguel Sano had three hits and two RBI and Andrelton Simmons had a hit.  Gilberto Celestino had a hit, Kirilloff hit a triple and Polanco hit two homeruns.  Sano also hit a homerun and the Twins were 3-5 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Colome committed an error and Kirilloff had an outfield assist. 

In the first Judge hit a solo homerun giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the second Gardner hit an RBI double making it 2-0.  In the third Stanton hit a three-run homerun to push the lead to 5-0.  In the bottom of the third Polanco hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 5-1.  In the fifth Stanton hit a two-run homerun making it a 7-1 game.  Andujar hit a solo homerun and it was 8-1 Yankees.  In the bottom of the fifth Sano hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 8-2.  Andujar hit a sac fly in the seventh pushing the lead to 9-2.  In the ninth Sano hit an RBI single, a wild pitch then a Polanco two-run homerun cut the lead to 9-6 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees will look for the three-game sweep on Thursday night. 

New York Yankees bats wake up in Minnesota as they got a much needed victory

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota and the final score was 8-4.  Jordan Montgomery started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  The bullpen pitched well and the offense broke out with five guys having two hits and 14 hits overall. 

Montgomery pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up eight hits and three runs.  He walked none and struck out six.  Jonathan Loaisiga won his fifth game of the season, he pitched 1 1/3 perfect innings.  Chad Green pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Wandy Peralta pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run. 

Michael Pineda started for the Twins and he pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up four hits and two runs with two walks and two strikeouts.  Jorge Alcala pitched an inning giving up a hit and an unearned run with a strikeout, Alex Colome pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and Luke Farrell pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one.  Taylor Rogers pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs and he took his third loss of the season and Griffin Jax pitched an inning giving up three hits and three runs with a strikeout. 

DJ LeMahieu had two hits and an RBI, Aaron Judge had two RBI and drew a walk and Gleyber Torres had two hits.  Giancarlo Stanton had two hits, Gio Urshela had a hit and Gary Sanchez had two hits and two RBI.  Roughned Odor had a hit, Clint Frazier had a hit and Miguel Andujar had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Brett Gardner had a hit and an RBI, LeMahieu and Odor each hit a double and Sanchez and Andujar each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-15 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Wade committed an error. 

Josh Donaldson had a hit, Miguel Sano had a hit and Ryan Jeffers had two hits and two RBI.  Trevor Larnach had two hits, Rob Refsnyder had two hits and an RBI and Alex Kirilloff had a hit.  Andrelton Simmons had a hit, Jeffers and Refsnyder each hit a double and the Twins were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Pineda, Astudillo, Polanco and Simmons each committed an error. 

In the bottom of the first Jeffers hit a two-run double giving the Twins a 2-0 lead.  In the fifth Judge drew an RBI walk and a wild pitch scored the second run to tie the game at two.  In the sixth Gardner hit a sac fly to give the Yankees a 3-2 lead.  In the bottom of the sixth Refsnyder hit an RBI double tying the game at three.  In the eighth LeMahieu reached on a fielder’s choice and a run scored giving the Yankees a 4-3 lead.  Another fielder’s choice produced another run pushing the lead to 5-3.  In the ninth Sanchez hit a two-run homerun and Andujar hit a solo homerun extending the lead to 8-3.  In the bottom of the ninth Astudillo grounded into a force out and a run scored to make it 8-4 which would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Wednesday night.

New York Yankees drop second straight to the Boston Red Sox

 

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Boston Red Sox on Saturday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 7-3.  Jameson Taillon started for the Yankees and he pitched ok, Chad Green was terrible in relief.  Gio Urshela had two hits and Gleyber Torres had three RBI to lead the offense. 

Taillon pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up six hits and three runs with a walk and three strikeouts.  Jonathan Loaisiga pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up three hits and a walk with a strikeout, Green lost his fourth game of the season pitching 2/3 of an inning and giving up four hits and four runs with a strikeout.  Wandy Peralta pitched to one batter and got him out and Brooks Kriske pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

Eduardo Rodriguez pitched 5 1/3 innings for the Red Sox and he gave up five hits and three runs with a walk and seven strikeouts.  Garrett Whitlock pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out two, Adam Ottavino pitched a perfect inning and Brandon Workman pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two walks and he struck out one.  Matt Barnes pitched to one batter and struck him out earning his 14th save of the season. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit, Aaron Judge drew a walk and Urshela had two hits.  Torres had a hit and three RBI, Chris Gittens drew a walk and Brett Gardner drew a walk.  Gary Sanchez had a hit, Clint Frazier had a hit and Urshela hit a double.  Torres hit a homerun and the Yankees were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Andujar had an outfield assist. 

Danny Santana had a hit, Alex Verdugo ahd two hits and drew a walk and Xander Bogaerts had a hit.  Rafael Devers had two hits and two RBI.  Hunter Renfroe had two hits, Marwin Gonzalez had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Kiki Hernandez had a hit and an RBI.  Christian Vasquez had two hits and an RBI, Bobby Dalbec had a hit and two RBI and Verdugo, Bogaerts, Gonzalez, Hernandez and Vasquez each hit a double.  Dalbec hit a homerun and the Red Sox were 4-9 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  In the fourth Torres hit a two-run homerun giving the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the sixth Devers hit a two-run single to tie the game at two.  Gonzalez hit an RBI double and it was 3-2 Red Sox.  In the bottom of the sixth Torres hit a sac fly to tie the game at three.  In the eighth Hernandez hit an RBI double, Vazquez hit an RBI double and Dalbec hit a two-run homerun pushing the lead to 7-3 which would be the final score. 

New York Yankees are defeated by the Boston Red Sox

 

The New York Yankees were defeated on Friday night by the Boston Red Sox.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 5-2.  Michael King started for the Yankees and he wasn’t great.  DJ LeMahieu, Aaron Judge and Gleyber Torres each had two hits to lead the offense. 

King pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up six hits and four runs.  He walked none and struck out five and took his third loss of the season.  Lucas Luetge pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout and Nestor Cortes pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out four. 

Nathan Eovaldi started for the Red Sox and he pitched six innings giving up eight hits and two runs with only one of them being earned.  He won his seventh game of the season and he struck out seven without allowing a walk.  Hirokazu Sawamura pitched two innings giving up a walk and he struck out five and Matt Barnes pitched an inning with three strikeouts.  He earned his 13th save of the season. 

LeMahieu had two hits, Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and drew a walk and Judge had two hits and an RBI.  Gio Urshela had a hit, Torres had two hits and Judge hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

Alex Verdugo had a hit, J.D. Martinez had a hit and Xander Bogaerts had two hits.  Rafael Devers had a hit and three RBI, Hunter Renfroe had a hit and Marwin Gonzalez had two hits and two RBI.  Christian Arroyo had a hit, Martinez hit a double and Gonzalez hit two doubles.  Devers hit a homerun and the Red Sox were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Gonzalez committed two errors. 

In the first Devers hit a three-run homerun to give the Red Sox a 3-0 lead.  In the sixth Gonzalez hit a two-run double to extend the lead to 5-0.  In the bottom of the sixth Judge hit a solo homerun and an error brought home another run cutting the lead to 5-2.  That would be the final score.
