The New York Mets are defeated by the Washington Nationals


The New York Mets were defeated by the Washington Nationals on Wednesday.  The game took place at Nationals Park in Washington D.C. and the final score was 5-1.  Font didn’t pitch well for the Mets and the bullpen pitched well.  The Mets offense only managed four hits. 

Font lost his first game of the season pitching 2 1/3 innings giving up six hits and five runs with two walks and two strikeouts.  Gagnon pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up three hits and a strikeout, Bashlor pitched two innings with a strikeout and Jeurys Familia pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Patrick Corbin won his fourth game of the season pitching eight innings giving up four hits and a run with a walk and 11 strikeouts.  Sean Doolittle pitched an inning with two strikeouts. 

Jeff McNeil had a hit and drew a walk, J.D. Davis had a hit and an RBI and Juan Lagares had a hit.  Gagnon had a hit, Davis hit a double and the Mets were 1-2 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

Adam Eaton had a hit and drew a walk, Victor Robles had two hits and an RBI and Anthony Rendon had three hits and an RBI.  Juan Soto had a hit and an RBI, Howie Kendrick had two hits and two RBI and Corbin drew a walk.  Kendrick hit a double and Rendon hit two doubles.  Robles hit a homerun and the Nationals were 3-9 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Kendrick was caught stealing. 

In the first Rendon hit an RBI double, Soto hit an RBI ground out and Kendrick hit an RBI single to give the Nationals a 3-0 lead.  In the third Davis hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 3-1.  In the bottom of the third Robles hit a solo homerun and Kendrick hit an RBI double to push the Nationals lead to 5-1 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play the third and final game of the series on Thursday.

New York Yankees sweep the doubleheader with a 3-1 victory


The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles in Game 2 of the doubleheader.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 3-1.  Domingo German started for the Yankees and he pitched great and the bullpen pitched two good innings.  Luke Voit led the offense with three hits and two RBI. 

German pitched seven innings giving up six hits and a run with a walk and eight strikeouts.  German won his eighth game of the season which is the most in the majors.  Zack Britton pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and Aroldis Chapman earned his 11th save of the season pitching a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

Andrew Cashner pitched six innings giving up four hits and two runs with two walks and seven strikeouts.  Cashner lost his second game of the season.  Shawn Armstrong pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with two strikeouts, Miguel Castro pitched to one batter and struck him out and Paul Fry pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit, Voit had three hits and two RBI and Gleyber Torres had a hit and an RBI.  Kendrys Morales had a hit and drew two walks, Thairo Estrada had a hit and Estrada and Voit each hit a double.  Torres hit a homerun and the Yankees were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Gardner was caught stealing and picked off.  Tauchman committed an error. 

Jonathan Villar had two hits, Chris Davis had a hit and Stevie Wilkerson had a hit.  Rio Ruiz had two hits, Hanser Alberto had an RBI and Pedro Severino drew a walk.  Joey Rickard had a hit which was a double and the Orioles were 0-8 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Villar was caught stealing and Rickard committed an error and Fry had a pickoff. 

In the third Voit hit an RBI double to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Torres hit a solo homerun to push their lead to 2-0.  In the fifth Alberto hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 2-1 and in the seventh Voit hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 3-1 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees swept the doubleheader and the brief two-game series.  They will be off on Thursday and will begin a three-game series with the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday night at home. 

New York Yankees take game 1 of the doubleheader over the Baltimore Orioles


The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles in Game 1 of a doubleheader.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 5-3.   J.A. Happ started for the Yankees and he pitched ok, the bullpen was great and Gary Sanchez and Gleyber Torres each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Happ pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up five hits and three runs with three strikeouts.  Happ picked up his third win of the season.  Adam Ottavino pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two, Tommy Khanle pitched to two batters and struck them both out and Zack Britton pitched a perfect inning with a  strikeout.  Aroldis Chapman earned his 10th save of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

David Hess pitched six innings giving up six hits and five runs with four being earned.  He walked one and struck out six and lost his fifth game of the season.  Branden Kline pitched two innings giving up a hit. 

Sanchez had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Clint Frazier had a hit and Torres had two hits and two RBI.  Cameron Maybin had a hit and an RBI, Mike Tauchman had a hit and an RBI and Sanchez and Maybin each hit a homerun.  Torres hit two homeruns.  The Yankees were 1-2 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

Trey Mancini had a hit and an RBI, Renato Nunez had a hit and an RBI and Joey Rickard had two hits.  Hanser Alberto had a hit, Austin Wynns had two hits and an RBI and Rickard and Wynns each hit a double.  Mancini and Nunez each hit a homerun and the Orioles were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Rickard had a stolen base and Mancini committed an error. 

In the first Mancini hit a solo homerun to give the Orioles a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Sanchez hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the second Wynns hit an RBI double to give the Orioles a 2-1 lead.  In the bottom of the second Torres hit a solo homerun to tie the game at two and Maybin hit his first homerun as a Yankee to give them a 3-2 lead.  In the fourth Nunez hit a solo homerun to tie the game at three.  In the bottom of the fourth Torres hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 4-3 lead and Tauchman hit an RBI single to push their lead to 5-3 and that would be the final score of the game. 

The two teams will play game two of the doubleheader and then the Yankees are off on Thursday. 

New York Mets defeated the Washington Nationals


The New York Mets defeated by the Washington Nationals on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Nationals Park in Washington D.C. and the final score was 6-2.  Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and he pitched well.  Amed Rosario had two hits and Wilson Ramos hit a grand slam to lead the Mets offense. 

Syndergaard pitched eight innings giving up four hits and two runs.  He walked one and struck out six and won his third game of the season.  Seth Lugo pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out three. 

Jeremy Hellickson pitched five innings giving up six hits and five runs with four walks and three strikeouts.  He lost his second game of the season.  Matt Grace pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out a batter, Erick Fedde pitched two perfect innings with a strikeout and Joe Ross pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk. 

Jeff McNeil drew two walks,Rosario had two hits and drew a walk and Pete Alonso had a hit.  Michael Conforto had a hit and drew a walk, Ramos had a hit, four RBI and drew a walk and Brandon Nimmo had a hit and an RBI.  Todd Frazier had a hitDom Smith had a hit and an RBI and Nimmo hit a double.  Ramos and Smith each hit a homerun and the Mets were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.

Victor Robles had a hit and two RBI, Anthony Rendon had two hits and drew a walk and Wilmer Difo had a hit.  Adrian Sanchez had a hit, Rendon hit a double and Robles hit a homerun.  The Nationals were 1-3 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base. 

In the first Ramos hit a grand slam to give the Mets a 4-0 lead.  In the sixth Nimmo hit an RBI double to push their lead to 5-0.  In the bottom of the sixth Robles hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 5-2.  In the ninth Smith hit a solo homerun and the lead was 6-2 which was the final score of the game.

New York Yankees take series from the Tampa Bay Rays


The New York Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida and the final score was 7-1.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he pitched great.  DJ LeMahieu, Austin Romine and Mike Tauchman each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Tanaka pitched seven innings giving up five hits and a run with seven strikeouts.  He won his third game of the season.  Zack Britton pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out two and Chad Green pitched a perfect inning by striking out the side. 

Blake Snell pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up four hits and two runs with two walks and 12 strikeouts.  Snell lost his fourth game of the season.  Chaz Roe pitched 1 1/3 innings with a walk and two strikeouts, Ryne Stanek pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and two strikeouts and Austin Pruitt pitched an inning giving up four hits and four runs with a walk and a strikeout. 

LeMahieu had two hits and an RBI, Luke Voit drew three walks and Gio Urshela had a hit and two RBI.  Clint Frazier drew a walk, Brett Gardner had a hit and an RBI and Cameron Maybin drew a walk.  Thairo Estrada had a hit and an RBI, Romine had two hits and Tauchman had two hits and an RBI.  Romine, Tauchman and Urshela each hit a double.  Estrada hit a homerun and the Yankees were 3-11 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

Austin Meadows had two hits and an RBI, Tommy Pham had a hit and Ji-Man Choi had two hits.  Yandy Diaz had a hit, Avisail Garcia had a hit and Meadows hit a homerun.  The Rays were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

In the fifth Tauchman hit an RBI double and Lemhaieu hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the sixth Meadows hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the eighth a wild pitch made it 3-1.  Estrada hit a solo homerun in the ninth, Urshela hit a two-run double and Gardner hit a sac fly to make it 7-1 and that was the final score. 

The Yankees won two out of three and will head home to take on the Baltimore Orioles in a three-game series.  They will play on Monday night.
