New York Yankees bullpen blows another one


New York Yankees were defeated by the Boston Red Sox on Friday night.  The game took place at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts and the final score was 5-4.  Jordan Montgomery started for the Yankees and he didn’t have his good stuff.  The bullpen was good until Aroldis Chapman melted down.  Gary Sanchez led the offense with two hits and three RBI. 

Montgomery pitched four innings and giving up six hits and three runs.  He walked three and struck out three.  Green pitched two perfect innings with five strikeouts, Adam Warren pitched an inning and gave up two hits with a strikeout, Dellin Betances pitched a perfect inning with three strikeouts and Chapman didn’t record an out and gave up two singles and two runs with one of them being unearned.  He walked two.  And blew his third save of the season and took his first loss of the season. 

Drew Pomeranz pitched six innings and gave up six hits and four runs with two walks and seven strikeouts.  Matt Barnes pitched two perfect innings with a couple of strikeouts and Robby Scott won his first game of the season pitching a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Brett Gardner had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Sanchez had two hits and three RBI and Aaron Judge drew a walk.  Chase Headley had two hits and Ronald Torreyes had a hit.  Headley hit a double, Sanchez hit a homerun and the Yankees were 2-5 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Torreyes committed an error. 

Mookie Betts had two hits, Dustin Pedroia had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Xander Bogaerts had two hits and an RBI.  Hanley Ramirez had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk, Andrew Benintendi had an RBI and drew a walk.  Jackie Bradley Jr. had a hit, Sam Travis drew a walk and Christian Vazquez had a hit.  Deven Marrero drew a walk, Ramirez hit a homerun and the Red Sox were 1-10 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.  Betts and Pedroia each had a stolen base. 

In the third Sanchez hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the third Ramirez hit a two-run homerun to make it 3-2 Boston.  In the fourth Pedroia hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 3-1.  In the fifth Gardner hit an RBI single and Sanchez hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 4-3 lead.  In the ninth Bogaerts reached on a fielding error and a run scored to tie the game at four and an RBI walk led the game.

New York Mets slaughter the Colorado Rockies at home


The New York Mets defeated the Colorado Rockies on Friday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 14-2.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he pitched well.  Yoenis Cespedes led the offense with four hits and Jose Reyes had three hits. 

deGrom pitched eight innings giving up four hits and two runs with one of them being earned.  He walked one and struck out 11.  deGrom won his 10th game of the season and Josh Edgin pitched an inning giving up two hits and no runs with a walk and two strikeouts.   

Jon Gray pitched two innings giving up nine hits and eight runs with three walks and a strikeout.  Gray lost his first game of the season.  Zac Rosscup pitched two innings giving up three hits and a run with three strikeouts, Mike Dunn pitched an inning with a walk and two strikeouts and Jordan Lyles pitched two innings giving up five hits and three runs with two strikeouts.  Scott Oberg pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with three walks. 

Michael Conforto had two hits and four RBI with two walks, Asdrubal Cabrera had two hits, three RBI and drew a walk and Cespedes had four hits and an RBI.  Jay Bruce had a hit and drew a walk, T.J. Rivera had two hits and three RBI and Lucas Duda had two hits and drew a walk.  Reyes had three hits and an RBI, Travis d’Arnaud had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and deGrom had two hits and an RBI.  Curtis Granderson drew a walk, Reyes, Cespedes and T. Rivera each hit a double.  T. Rivera and Conforto each hit a homerun and the Mets were 7-16 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  deGrom committed an error and Cespedes had an outfield assist. 

Charlie Blackmon had two hits, D.J. LeMahieu had a hit and drew a walk and Nolan Arenado had a hit.  Gerardo Parra had two hits and an RBI, Carlos Gonzalez drew a walk and Blackmon hit a double.  The Rockies were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

In the first Parra hit an RBI single giving the Rockies a 1-0 lead.  In the second d’Arnaud hit an RBI ground out to tie the game at one.  deGrom hit an RBI single and it was 2-1 Mets.  In the third T. Rivera hit a two-run double to push the lead to 4-1.  Reyes hit an RBI single, Conforto hit an RBI ground out and Cabrera hit a two-run single to make it 8-1 Mets.  In the fourth T. Rivera hit a solo homerun and the lead was 9-1.  In the sixth a wild pitch cut the lead to 9-2.  In the seventh Conforto hit a three-run homerun and the lead was extended to 12-2.  In the eighth Cabrera drew an RBI walk, Cespedes hit an RBI single and it was 14-2.  14-2 would be the final score as the Mets look to have a better second half of the season.

New York Yankees drop another series, this time to the Milwaukee Brewers


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 5-3.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and wasn’t very good, the bullpen was great.  Chase Headley had two hits to lead the offense and Clint Frazier hit a homerun. 

Tanaka pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up six hits and five runs with a walk and five strikeouts and lost his eighth game of the season.  Chasen Shreve pitched giving up a hit and not recording an out, Adam Warren pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with three strikeouts and Tyler Webb pitched to one batter and retired him.  Chad Green pitched two perfect innings with four strikeouts and Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout. 

Jimmy Nelson pitched five innings giving up seven hits and three runs.  He walked two and struck out six and won his eighth game of the season.  Carlos Torres pitched 2/3 of an inning with a strikeout, Oliver Drake pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and Jared Hughes pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a walk and striking out two.  Corey Knebel pitched 1 1/3 innings with two walks and three strikeouts and earned his 14th save of the season. 

Brett Gardner had a hit and drew two walks, Aaron Judge had a hit and drew a walk and Gary Sanchez had a hit.  Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit and drew a walk, Headley had two hits and an RBI and Frazier had a hit and two RBI.  Ji-Man Choi drew a walk, Tyler Wade had a hit and Wade hit a double and Frazier hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-16 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.  Ellsbury had a stolen base and Gardner had two stolen bases.  Chapman had a pickoff. 

Jonathan Villar had three hits, Eric Thames had two hits and Domingo Santana had a hit and drew a walk.  Travis Shaw had two hits, four RBI and drew a walk, Stephen Vogt had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Shaw and Vogt each hit a homerun.  The Brewers were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Broxton had a stolen base and Villar was caught stealing. 

In the first Shaw hit a three-run homerun to give the Brewers a 3-0 lead.  In the second Vogt hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 4-0.  In the bottom of the fourth Headley hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 4-1.  Frazier hit a two-run homerun and it was 4-3.  In the fifth Shaw hit an RBI single to make it 5-3 and that would be the final score.  The Yankees had their chances but couldn’t capitalize and also got unlucky.  They had Headley miss a three-run homerun by inches that was originally ruled a homer but overturned on replay and then the right fielder made a great catch on Sanchez which probably would of tied the game.  The Yankees are limping into the break but need it bad.  They expect to have both Matt Holliday and Starlin Castro back for the series in Boston that will begin on Friday night.  It is a very important four game set as the Yankees are in second place by 3 ½ games behind the Red Sox and in the first wild card spot.   

The New York Mets are shutout in St. Louis as they finish the first half with a dud


The New York Mets were defeated by the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri and the final score was 6-0.  Steven Matz started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch well.  The Mets offense managed three hits. 

Matz pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and five runs with a walk and a strikeout and he took his second loss of the season.  Erik Goeddel pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Seth Lugo pitched three innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and three strikeouts. 

Lance Lynn pitched seven innings giving up three hits and no runs with a walk and two strikeouts and he won his seventh game of the season.  Trevor Rosenthal pitched a perfect inning striking out the side and John Brebbia pitched a perfect inning. 

Michael Conforto had a hit, Jay Bruce had a hit and Lucas Duda drew a walk.  Rene Rivera had a hit,  and the Mets left two men on base. 

Matt Carpenter had a hit and drew a walk, Tommy Pham had three hits and two RBI and Dexter Fowler had two hits.  Jedd Gyorko had an RBI, Yadier Molina had a hit and an RBI and Stephen Piscotty drew a walk.  Luke Voit had a hit and an RBI, Paul DeJong had two hits and an RBI and Carpenter hit a double.  Pham, DeJong and Voit each hit a homerun and the Cardinals were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

In the first Gyorko hit an RBI ground out to give the Cardinals a 1-0 lead.  In the third Pham hit a two-run homerun to push the lead to 3-0.  In the fourth DeJong hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 4-0.  In the fifth Molina hit an RBI single to make it a 5-0 game.  In the sixth Voit hit a solo homerun to increase the lead to 6-0 which would be the final score. 

The All-Star Break is here and the Mets will be off until Friday when they begin a ten game homestand.  They will first face the Colorado Rockies for three. 


New York Mets lose to St. Louis Cardinals as offense is silent


The New York Mets were defeated by the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday.  The game took place at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri and the final score was 4-1.  Zach Wheeler started for the Mets and he pitched ok but didn’t get the win.  T.J. Rivera led the offense with three hits. 

Wheeler pitched six innings giving up eight hits and two runs with a walk and five strikeouts.  He lost his sixth game of the season.  Fernando Salas pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with two walks, Erik Goeddel pitched to one batter and struck him out and Rafael Montero pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and two strikeouts.  Josh Edgin walked the only batter he faced, Neil Ramirez struck out the only batter that he faced. 

Adam Wainwright pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up five hits and a run with no walks and seven strikeouts.  Wainwright won his 10th game of the season.  Matt Bowman pitched to one batter and retired him, Brett Cecil pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and Seung Hwan Oh pitched an inning giving up two hits and he saved his 18th game of the season. 

Jay Bruce had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, T. Rivera had three hits and Jose Reyes had two hits.  Bruce hit a homerun and the Mets were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

Matt Carpenter had a hit and drew two walks, Stephen Piscotty had a hit and an RBI and Tommy Pham had a hit and drew a walk.  Jedd Gyorko drew a walk, Yadier Molina had two hits and an RBI and Luke Voit had two hits and drew a walk.  Paul DeJong had four hits and two RBI, Voit, Carpenter and Molina each hit a double.  DeJong hit three doubles and DeJong hit a homerun.  The Cardinals were 2-12 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.  Pham had two stolen bases and Pham was caught stealing and so was Molina. 
In the third DeJong hit a solo homerun giving the Cardinals a 1-0 lead.  In the sixth Molina hit an RBI double to push the lead to 2-0.  In the seventh Bruce hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the bottom of the seventh Piscotty hit an RBI single to extend the Cardinals lead to 3-1 and in the eighth DeJong hit an RBI double to make it 4-1 and that would be the final scor

New York Mets win a close one at St. Louis


The New York Mets defeated the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday night.  The game took place at Busch Stadium in St. Louis Missouri and the final score was 6-5.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he pitched ok.  Jay Bruce had three hits and Jose Reyes had two to lead the offense. 

deGrom won his ninth game of the season pitching seven innings and giving up eight hits and four runs with five strikeouts.  Jerry Blevins pitched giving up a hit and a run without recording an out, Paul Sewald pitched an inning and gave up a hit and Addison Reed pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and picked up his 15th save of the season. 

Carlos Martinez pitched five innings giving up seven hits and five runs with three walks and four strikeouts and he lost his eighth game of the season.  John Brebbia pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and an unearned run with two strikeouts, Tyler Lyons pitched to two batters and retired them both and had a strikeout and Sam Tuivailala pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Trevor Rosenthal pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts. 

Curtis Granderson had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Asdrubal Cabrera drew a walk and Yoenis Cespedes had a hit.  Bruce had three hits and an RBI, T.J. Rivera had a hit and two RBI and Lucas Duda drew a walk.  Jose Reyes had two hits and drew a walk, Travis d’Arnaud had a hit and an RBI and Bruce, Reyes, Granderson and T.J. Rivera each hit a double and Reyes and Bruce each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 3-11 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. 

Matt Carpenter had two hits, Stephen Piscotty had a hit and Dexter Fowler had a hit and an RBI.  Jed Gyorko had two hits and two RBI, Randal Grichuk had a hit and an RBI and Paul DeJong had three hits and an RBI.  DeJong hit a double and Grichuk, DeJong, Folwer and Gyorko each hit a homerun.  The Cardinals were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Gyorko and Carpenter each had an outfield assist.  Piscotty also had an outfield assist. 

In the first T. Rivera was hit by a pitch to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the second Reyes hit a solo homerun extending the Mets lead to 2-0.  In the third Grichuk hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 2-1.  DeJong hit a solo homerun and the game was tied at two.  In the fourth d’Arnaud hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 3-2 lead, Granderson hit an RBI double and the lead was pushed to 4-2 Mets.  In the fourth Fowler hit a solo homerun, Gyorko hit a solo homerun and the game was tied at four.  In the fifth Bruce hit a solo homerun giving the Mets a 5-4 lead.  In the seventh T. Rivera hit an RBI double to extend the lead to 6-4.  Gyorko hit a sac fly in the eighth to cut the lead to 6-5 and that would be the final score. 






New York Yankees win on dramatic walk-off victory over the Milwaukee Brewers


The New York Yankees defeated the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 5-3.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees and after a rough start really pitched well.  Clint Frazier had three hits and four RBI to lead the offense. 

Severino pitched seven innings giving up six hits and three runs.  He walked two and struck out ten.  Dellin Betances pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts and Aroldis Chapman pitched a perfect inning striking out the side and earning his second win of the season. 

Brent Suter pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up five hits and two runs with a walk and five strikeouts.  Jared Hughes pitched to two batters and retired them both, Jacob Barnes pitched a perfect inning with a  couple of strikeouts and Corey Knebel pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and three runs with two walks and a strikeout.  Knebel blew his fourth save of the season and lost his second game of the season. 

Aaron Judge had a hit and drew a walk, Didi Gregorius drew a walk and Chase Headley had a hit.  Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit and drew a walk, Frazier was the star of the game with three hits and four RBI and Headley hit a double and Frazier hit a triple and a walk-off homerun.  The Yankees were 3-6 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Severino committed an error. 

Jonathan Villar had two hits, Eric Thames had a hit and Travis Shaw had a hit.  Domingo Santana had a hit, three RBI and drew a walk.  Jesus Aguilar had a hit and drew a walk, Thames hit a double and Santana hit a homerun and the Brewers were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Arcia and Suter each committed an error. 

In the first Santana hit a three-run homerun to give the Brewers a 3-0 lead.  In the seventh a throwing error gave the Yankees a runs and Frazier hit an RBI triple to cut the lead to 3-2.  In the ninth Frazier hit a walk-off three run homerun to give the Yankees the 5-3 victory. 

The two teams will play the rubber game of their three game series on Sunday afternoon. 


The New York Yankees blow lead again as bullpen blows up


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 9-4.  Jordan Montgomery started for the Yankees and he pitched ok but had to leave after a lengthy rain delay.  The offense only managed four hits. 

Montgomery pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and two runs with four strikeouts.  Tyler Webb pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a walk, Tyler Clippard lost his fifth game of the season pitching 1 2/3 innings and giving up a hit and four runs with three walks and a strikeout.  Chasen Shreve pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and Luis Cessa pitched two scoreless innings giving up three hits. 

Junior Guerra pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up two hits and three runs with one of them being earned.  He walked three and struck out three.  Josh Hader won his first game of the season pitching three innings and giving up a hit and a run with two walks and seven strikeouts, Jared Hughes pitched to two batters and retired them both and Oliver Drake pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.  Jacob Barnes pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one. 

Brett Gardner drew four walks, Chase Headley drew a walk and Aaron Judge had a hit and an RBI.  Didi Gregorius had a hit, Clint Frazier had a hit and an RBI and Ji-man Choi had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk.  Frazier hit a triple and Choi and Judge each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Gardner was caught stealing and Choi committed an error. 

Jonathan Villar had a hit and drew a walk, Domingo Santana had two hits and drew a walk and Ryan Braun had a hit and drew a walk.  Travis Shaw had a hit and drew a walk, Jesus Aguilar had three hits and seven RBI and Hernan Perez had three hits.  Manny Pina had two hits and an RBI, Keon Broxton drew a walk and Orlando Arcia had a hit.  Braun, Shaw, Perez and Santana each hit a double.  Aguilar hit two homeruns and the Brewers were 3-12 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Santana committed two errors, Villar committed two errors and Aguilar committed an error.  Pina had a pickoff. 

In the second Frazier hit a sac fly to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Aguilar hit a two-run homerun to give the Brewers a 2-1 lead.  In the fourth Choi hit a two-run homerun to make it 3-2 Yankees.  Judge hit a solo homerun in the fifth to push the lead to 4-2.  In the sixth a wild pitch cut the lead to 4-3, Aguilar hit a sac fly to tie the game and then in the seventh Aguilar hit a grand slam to give the Brewers an 8-4 lead.  Pina hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 9-4 and that would be the final score.  The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday afternoon.
