Yankees win a wild one over the Toronto Blue Jays


The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday afternoon.  The game took place at Dunedin Stadium in Dunedin, Florida and the final score was 9-8.  Chad Green started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  Austin Romine had a couple of hits to lead the offense. 

Green pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up three hits and a run with no walks and three strikeouts.  Trevor Lane pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk, David Hale pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and J.P. Feyereisen pitched an inning giving up a hit and two runs with two walks and two strikeouts.  Raynel Espinal pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, Adonis Rosa pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with three strikeouts and he picked up the win and Josh Rogers pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up three hits and two runs.  Cale Coshow pitched to two batteres and retired them both. 

Mark Payton had a hit and three RBI, Miguel Andujar had a hit and an RBI and Abiatal Avelino drew a walk.  Ryan McBroom had a hit and an RBI, Daniel Espinosa had a hit and an RBI and Tyler Wade had a hit and drew a walk.  Romine had two hits, Kyle Higashioka drew a walk and Billy McKinney drew a walk.  Estevan Florial had a hit and drew a walk, Shane Robinson had a hit and an RBI and Romine hit two doubles and Payton hit a double.  Florial hit a triple and Espinosa, Andujar and McBroom each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-10 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Wade had a stolen base and Higashioka committed an error and McKinney and Ellsbury each had an outfield assist. 

In the second Russell Martin hit a solo homerun to give the Blue Jays a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Espinosa hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one and a wild pitched scored another run to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  In the bottom of the fourth Kevin Pillar hit an RBI single to tie the game at two.  Aledmys Diaz hit an RBI single to give the Jays a 3-2 lead.  In the sixth Andujar hit a solo homerun to tie the game at three.  In the sixth Anthony Alford hit an RBI triple to give the Jays back the lead at 4-3.  J.D. Davis hit an RBI single to push the Jays lead to 5-3.  In the seventh Robinson hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 5-4.  IN the eighth McBroom hit a solo homerun to tie the game at five.  A wild pitch made it a 6-5 game and Payton hit a three-run double to increase the Yankees lead to 9-5.  In the eighth Reese McGuire hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 9-6.  In the ninth Jason Leblebijian hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 9-8 and that would be the final score.  The Yankees ran their spring record to 5-0.

The New York Yankees win again on a walk-off homerun by Miguel Andujar


The New York Yankees defeated the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday night.  The game took place at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida and the final score was 4-3.  Sonny Gray started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  Miguel Andujar had two hits and two RBI to lead the offense. 

Gray started for the Yankees and he pitched two innings giving up two hits and no runs.  He walked none and struck out two.  Chance Adams pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two walks, Jonathan Holder plitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one and Ben Heller pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two walks and three strikeouts.  Brian Keller pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out two and Cody Carroll pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with two strikeouts and he picked up the win. 

Gary Sanchez had a hit, Eric Kratz drew a walk and Tyler Austin drew a walk.  Jorge Saez had a hit and an RBI, Brandon Drury had a hit and drew a walk and Andujar had two hits and two RBI.  Tyler Wade had a hit and an RBI, Sanchez and Andujar each hit a double and Drury hit a triple.  Andujar hit a homerun and the Yankees were 3-8 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Sanchez had a pickoff. 

In the third Carlos Santana hit a sac fly to give the Phillies a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth Jorge Alfaro was hit by a pitch and the Phillies took a 2-0 lead.  In the bottom of the fifth Wade hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the bottom of the seventh Andujar hit an RBI double to tie the game at two.  In the eighth Saez hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 3-2 lead.  In the ninth Scott Kingery hit a solo homerun to tie the game at three.  In the bottom of the ninth Andujar hit a solo walk-off homerun to win the game for the Yankees 4-3. 

New York Yankees win third straight to open spring


The New York Yankees defeated the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Spectrum Field in Clearwater, Florida and the final score was 8-3.  Jordan Montgomery started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  The Yankees bullpen mostly pitched well and Aaron Hicks and Kyle Higashioka led the offense. 

Montgomery pitched two innings giving up a hit an no runs with a couple of strikeouts and picked up the win.  Justus Sheffield pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and three runs with a walk and two strikeouts, Wade LeBlanc pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up two hits and no runs with a couple of strikeouts and Cale Coshow pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one.  Raynel Espinal pitched an inning giving up a walk and striking out two and Gio Gallegos pitched an inning with a walk and he struck out the side. 

Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit, Gleyber Torres had a hit and Greg Bird had a hit.  Hicks had two hits, Higashioka had three hits and Daniel Espinosa had a hit, three RBI and drew a walk.  Jace Peterson drew a walk, Ronald Torreyes had a hit and an RBI and Abiatal Avelino had a hit.  Jeff Hendrix had a hit and two RBI and Rashad Crawford had an RBI.  Torres, Espinosa, Hicks, Torreyes and Higashioka each hit a double.  The Yankees were 4-15 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Hendrix had a stolen base and Robinson had an outfield assist.  LeBlanc had a pickoff. 

In the first Espinosa hit a three-run double to give the Yankees a 3-0 lead.  In the fourth Torreyes hit a sac fly to increase the Yankees lead to 4-0.  In the bottom of the fourth Odubel Herrera hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 4-1.  Maikel Franco hit a two-run homerun and it was a 4-3 game.  In the sixth Hendrix reached on a fielding error and two runs scored to push the lead to 6-3 Yankees.  In the eighth Hendrix hit an RBI single and Crawford hit a sac fly to make it a 8-3 game and that would be the final sore.  The Yankees have started the spring with three straight wins.

The New York Yankees defeat the Pittsburgh Pirates


The New York Yankees defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Lecom Park in Bradenton, Florida and the final score was 4-1 Yankees.  Domingo German started for the Yankees and he pitched two scoreless.  The Yankees bullpen was pretty good and the offense was led by Billy McKinney who hit a three-run homerun and Eric Kratz who had two hits. 

German pitched two scoreless giving up two hits and two walks with two strikeouts.  Adam Warren pitched two innings giving up two hits and he struck out one, Dillon Tate pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with two strikeouts and J.P. Feyereisen pitched two perfect innings.  Jonathan Holder pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Jace Peterson drew two walks, Brandon Drury had a hit and Miguel Andujar had a hit.  McKinney had a hit and three RBI, Clint Frazier had a hit and Trey Amburgey had a hit.  Daniel Espinosa drew a walk, Ronald Torreyes had a hit and drew a walk and Kyle Holder had a hit.  Estevan Florial had a hit, Kratz had two hits and an RBI and Shane Robinson had a hit and drew a walk.  Holder hit a double, Florial hit a triple and McKinney hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-15 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.  Torreyes was caught stealing and so was Frazier. 

In the fourth Kratz hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth Gregory Polanco hit a solo homerun to tie the game at 1.  In the ninth McKinney hit a three-run homerun for the Yankees to give them a 4-1 lead and that would be the final score.   


New York Yankees open up grapefruit league by defeating the Detroit Tigeres


The New York Yankees defeated the Detroit Tigers on Friday at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida.  The final score was 3-1 Yankees.  Luis Cessa started the game for the Yankees and he pitched well as did the guys out of the bullpen.  Tyler Wade and Jorge Saez each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Cessa pitched two innings giving up a run on two hits with no walks and two strikeouts.  Ben Heller pitched two innings giving up two hits and he struck out three, David Hale picked up the win pitching two innings and giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout.  Brady Lail pitched an inning giving up a hit, Cale Coshow pitched a scoreless innings and gave up a walk and Gio Gallegos pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two and picked up the save. 

Jacoby Ellsbury drew a walk, Saez had two hits and two RBI and Giancarlo Stanton drew a walk.  Billy McKinney drew a walk, Aaron Hicks drew a walk and Wade had two hits.  Austin Romine had a hit and drew a walk, Kyle Higashioka drew a walk and Clint Frazier drew a walk.  Jake Cave had a hit and an RBI, Romine and Wade each hit a double and the Yankees were 1-11 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Frazier and Cave each had a stolen base and Wade committed an error. 

In the first inning Chad Huffman delivered an RBI single for the Tigers to give them a 1-0 lead.  In the sixth Cave had an RBI ground out and Saez delivered a two-run single to give the Yankees a 3-1 lead and that would be the final score.
