New York Yankees lose a slugfest to the Baltimore Orioles


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday afternoon.  The game took place at Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota, Florida and the final score was 7-4.  Chance Adams started for the Yankees and he did not pitch well.  The Yankees had seven hits, but no player had multiple hits. 

Adams pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and five runs with a strikeout.   Cody Carroll pitched an inning giving up three hits and a run, David Hale pitched three innings giving up four hits and three walks with four strikeouts and Wade LeBlanc pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run.  J.P. Feyereisen pitched a perfect inning. 

Tyler Wade drew a walk, Diego Castillo had a hit and Greg Bird had a hit.  Brandon Drury had a hit and drew a walk, Billy McKinney drew a walk and Austin Romine had a hit and drew a walk.  Ronald Torreyes had an RBI, Eric Kratz had a hit an RBI and drew a walk and Shane Robinson had a hit and two RBI.  Jeff Hendrix had a hit, Drury hit a double and Kratz hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-11 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. 

In the first Adam Jones hit a two-run homerun to give the Orioles a 2-0 lead.  In the second Torreyes hit an RBI ground out and Robinson hit a two-run single to give the Yankees a 3-2 lead.  In the second Trey Mancini hit an RBI single and Jonathan Schoop hit a two-run homerun to give the Orioles back the lead at 5-3.  In the third Tim Beckham hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 6-3.  In the fourth Kratz hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 6-4.  In the seventh Alex Presley hit a sac fly pushing the lead to 7-4 and that would be the final score. 

The New York Yankees played to a draw on Tuesday.  The game took place at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida and the final score was 2-2.  CC Sabathia started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  The Yankees only managed four hits but one of them was a homerun by Didi Gregorius. 

Sabathia pitched four innings giving up four hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout.  Adam Warren pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one, Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and David Robertson pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.  Chad Green pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Giovanny Gallegos pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a couple of strikeouts. 

Shane Robinson had an RBI, Jeff Hendrix drew a walk and Gregorius had a hit and an RBI.  Tyler Wade drew a walk, Aaron Hicks had a hit and Adam Lind had a hit and drew a walk.  Gleyber Torres had a hit and drew a walk.  Gregorius hit a homerun and the Yankees were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Hendrix had a stolen base and Robinson was caught stealing. 

In the third Leonys Martin hit a solo homerun giving the Tigers a 1-0 lead.  In the eighth Gregorius hit a solo homerun and Robinson hit an RBI ground out giving the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  In the ninth Victor Reyes hit an RBI single to tie the game at two and that is how it would end.

New York Yankees lose a close one to the Minnesota Twins


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Minnesota Twins on Monday night.  The game took place at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida and the final score was 2-1.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  Ronald Torreyes and Tyler Wade led the offense with two hits each. 

Tanaka took the loss pitching four innings giving up four hits and two runs with a walk and six strikeouts.  Dellin Betances pitched to two batters and struck them both out, Chasen Shreve pitched to one batter and retired him and Domingo German pitched three innings giving up a hit and he struck out three.  Tommy Khanle pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Estevan Florial drew a walk, Shane Robinson drew a walk and Greg Bird had a hit.  Brandon Drury had a hit, Tyler Austin had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Billy McKinney drew a walk.  Austin Romine had a hit, Torreyes had two hits and Wade had two hits.  Torreyes and Wade each hit a double and Austin hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Robinson had a stolen base and Wade was caught stealing.  Robinson was picked off and Torreyes committed an error. 

In the second Bobby Wilson hit a two-run homerun to give the Twins a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth Austin hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 2-1 but that would be the final score.   

New York Yankees come up short to the Miami Marlins


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Miami Marlins on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, Florida and the final score was 7-5.  Jordan Montgomery started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch well.  The Yankees offense managed six hits but no one had more then a hit. 

Montgomery pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up five hits and four runs.  He walked two and struck out three and took the loss.  Brady Lail pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up three hits and a run with two strikeouts, Wade LeBlanc pitched two innings giving up two hits and two runs with a couple of strikeouts and Cody Carroll pitched an inning with a walk and three strikeouts.  Joe Harvey pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout. 

Aaron Hicks drew a walk, Aaron Judge had a hit and an RBI and Greg Bird had a hit and drew a walk.  Gary Sanchez had a hit, Didi Gregorius had a hit and three RBI and Miguel Andujar had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Jake Cave had a hit, Andujar hit a triple and Gregorius and Judge each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Cave was picked off and Bird commited an error.  Sanchez had a pickoff. 

In the second Miguel Rojas hit a two-run double to give the Marlins a 2-0 lead.  In the third Brian Anderson hit a three-run homerun to push the Marlins lead to 5-0.  In the fourth Gregorius hit an RBI ground out and Andujar had a sac fly to cut the lead to 5-2.  Cameron Maybin hit a two-run homerun in the fifth to push the lead back up to 7-2.  In the sixth Gregorius hit a two-run homerun and the lead was cut to 7-4, Judge hit a solo homerun to make it 7-5 and that would be the final score.
