Yankees complete the sweep

The New York Yankees completed the 3 game sweep over the Texas Rangers today by the score of 5-2. The Rangers came in to the series with the lowest era in baseball and left shaking their heads. The Yankees the last 2 days have been able to knock out the starting pitcher in the 4th inning. They take so many pitches and foul pitches off that they drive you crazy. Andy Pettitte got the start and went 8 strong innings giving up 4 hits and 2 runs with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts. He appeared to be struggling early but grinded it out and really finished strong. He only threw 16 pitches in the 6th and 7th innings. Mariano Rivera got his 5th save in 5 chances with a 1-2-3 ninth, he had 2 strikeouts. Mark Teixeira who has been struggling had a solo home run and hit the ball hard a couple of other times. Alex Rodriguez walked 3 times and had a single. Ramiro Pena who was filling in for a ailing Derek Jeter had a 2 out 2 run single. Brett Gardner had 2 hits, a walk and 2 stolen bases in the leadoff spot. Jorge Posada had 2 more hits with one of them being a solo home run. The Yankees once again did not commit a error. It was the 10th straight game they didn't have a error. They set the record last year with 18 straight. The Yankees will now head to the west coast to play the A's and Angels and then play 3 games against the Orioles.
