The Yankees Hire Jim Hendry and reorganize their front office

The New York Yankees hired former Cubs general manager Jim Hendry on Tuesday afternoon.  He is going to be a special assignment scout for the Yankees.  The Yankees also promoted some people in their front office.  Steve Donohue was officially named the head athletic trainer, he was the long time assistant to Gene Monahagn who retired after this past season.  Mark Littlefield was named the assistant athletic director.  Jean Afterman is now the vice president/assistant general manager, Billy Eppler as the assistant general manager and Will Kuntz to manager of pro scouting.

Hendry spent the last 9 1/2 years as the Cubs GM.  He was relieved of his duties in Chicago on August 19th.  This will be the first season that Hendry isn't a member of the Cubs organization since 1994.  He is 56 years old and started out as the Cubs director of player development in 1994.  In 1996 he took over as the director of player development and scouting.  In August 2000 he was named the Cubs Assistant general manager and in 2002 became the general manager.
