New York Yankees defeat the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-2

The New York Yankees defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday afternoon.  The game took place

in Bradenton, Florida and the final score was 4-2 Yankees.  CC Sabathia finished his spring on a high

with four more scoreless innings.  His next start will come on Tuesday night in Houston in the season

opener.  Ichiro Suzuki and Eduardo Nunez each had three hits to lead the offense. 

Sabathia pitched four scoreless giving up three hits.  He didn't walk or strikeout a batter.  Dellin Betances gave up a hit and struck out one, Vidal Nuno pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and Adam Warren gave up two hits in a scoreless inning.  David Phelps pitched 2/3 of an inning.  He gave up three hits and two runs with a walk and Cesar Cabral picked up the save pitching 1 1/3 innings and giving up a hit and striking out two. 

Suzuki had three hits and an RBI, Nunez had three hits and an RBI and Jose Pirela had a hit.  Mark Teixeira had an RBI and drew a walk, Zoilo Almonte had three hits and an RBI and Adonis Garcia had two hits.  Garcia and Almonte each hit a double. 

The Yankees were 5-16 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Garcia and Richardson each had a stolen base and Suzuki was caught stealing.  The Yankees will play Friday night at home in Tampa against the Florida Marlins.  They will then finish their grapefruit league schedule at home on Saturday afternoon against the Florida Marlins.
