The New York Mets defeated the
Atlanta Braves on Wednesday night. The
game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 4-1. Dillon Gee started and pitched well and
Daniel Murphy had two hits.
Gee pitched seven innings giving up
six hits and a run. He walked one and
struck out four and won his fourth game of the season. Vic Black pitched an inning striking out one
and Jennry Mejia pitched an inning giving up two hits and striking out
two. Mejia saved his ninth game of the
season.
Ervin Santana lost his sixth game
of the season pitching seven innings and giving up six hits and four runs. He walked two men and struck out four. Anthony Varvaro pitched a perfect
inning.
Granderson had a hit, Daniel Murphy
had two hits and David Wright had a hit and drew a walk. Lucas Duda had a hit and an RBI, Bobby Abreu
drew a walk and Kirk Nieuwenhuis had an RBI.
Travis d'Arnaud had a hit and two RBI, Murphy hit a double and Wright hit
a double. d'Arnaud hit a homerun and the
Mets were 1-3 with runners in scoring position and left one men on base. Murphy was picked off, Wright committed an
error and Nieuwenhuis had an outfield assist.
B.J. Upton had a hit, an RBI and
drew a walk, Justin Upton had two hits and Jayson Heyward had a hit. Tommy La Stella had two hits, Gerald Laird
had a hit and Santana had a hit. B.J.
Upton hit a double and the Braves were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and
left six men on base. B.J. Upton was
caught stealing.
In the first Duda hit an RBI single
to give the Mets a 1-0 lead. In the
sixth B.J. Upton hit an RBI double to tie the game at one. In the seventh Nieuwenhuis hit a sacrifice
fly and d'Arnaud hit a two run homerun to give the Mets a 4-1 lead and that
would be the final score. The Mets have
taken the first three of the four game series and will go for the sweep on
Thursday night.
