Ellsbury had three hits and two RBI, Didi Gregorius had two hits and two RBI and Sanchez had three hits and drew a walk.  Brian McCann had a hit and an RBI, Aaron Hicks had two hits and Torreyes had four  hits and two RBI.  Torreyes, and Gregorius each hit a double and Sanchez hit two doubles.  Ellsbury and Torreyes each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 3-7 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Sanchez had a stolen base, the first of his career.

Gregorio Petit had a hit, Kole Calhoun drew a walk and Mike Trout had two hits.  Albert Pujols had a hit, Jefry Marte had a hit and Jett Bandy had a hit.  The Angels were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Petit committed an error and Trout had an outfield assist.

In the first Ellsbury hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the third Ellsbury hit an RBI single to push the lead to 2-0.  In the fifth the homerun barrage came on as Torreyes and McCann all homered to give the Yankees a 6-0 lead.  The final run was scored in the sixth on a Gregorius RBI double to make it 7-0 and that would be the final score.

The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday night and then finish their series on Sunday afternoon.
