The New York Yankees defeated the
Kansas City Royals on Wednesday night. The
game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score
was 3-0. Luis Severino started for the
Yankees and he was great. Didi Gregorius
led the offense with two hits.
Severino pitched eight shutout
innings giving up four hits and a walk with seven strikeouts. Severino won his third game of the season and
Dellin Betances saved his fourth game of the season pitching a perfect inning
with three strikeouts.
Jason Hammel pitched six innings
giving up six hits and three runs with two walks and seven strikeouts. Hammel lost his sixth game of the
season. Matt Strahm pitched 2/3 of an inning
giving up a hit and Peter Moylan pitched 1 1/3 perfect innings with a
strikeout.
Brett Gardner had a hit and an RBI,
Gary Sanchez had a hit and Matt Holliday had a hit and an RBI. Aaron Judge had a hit and drew a walk, Aaron
Hicks had a hit and Gregorius had two hits and an RBI. Chris Carter drew a walk, Hicks and Gregorius
each hit a double. Gregorius hit a
homerun and the Yankees were 1-3 with runners in scoring position and left six
men on base. Sanchez had a stolen base.
Alcides Escobar had a hit, Eric
Hosmer drew a walk and Brandon Moss had a hit.
Whit Merrifield had a hit, Alex Gordon had a hit and Moss hit a
double. The Royals were 0-1 with runners
in scoring position and left four men on base.
Perez committed an error.
In the third Gregorius hit a solo
homerun giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.
In the sixth Holliday hit a sac fly to extend the lead to 2-0 and in the
seventh Gardner hit an RBI single to push the lead to 3-0 which would be the
final score.
The Yankees have won two out of three games and
the series finale will be on Thursday aftern
