The New York Yankees were defeated
by the Miami Marlins on Sunday afternoon.
The game took place at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, Florida and the
final score was 7-5. Jordan Montgomery
started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch well. The Yankees offense managed six hits but no
one had more then a hit.
Montgomery pitched 2 1/3 innings
giving up five hits and four runs. He
walked two and struck out three and took the loss. Brady Lail pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up
three hits and a run with two strikeouts, Wade LeBlanc pitched two innings
giving up two hits and two runs with a couple of strikeouts and Cody Carroll
pitched an inning with a walk and three strikeouts. Joe Harvey pitched an inning giving up a hit
and a walk with a strikeout.
Aaron Hicks drew a walk, Aaron
Judge had a hit and an RBI and Greg Bird had a hit and drew a walk. Gary Sanchez had a hit, Didi Gregorius had a
hit and three RBI and Miguel Andujar had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk. Jake Cave had a hit, Andujar hit a triple and
Gregorius and Judge each hit a homerun.
The Yankees were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left five men
on base. Cave was picked off and Bird
commited an error. Sanchez had a
pickoff.
In the second Miguel Rojas hit a
two-run double to give the Marlins a 2-0 lead.
In the third Brian Anderson hit a three-run homerun to push the Marlins
lead to 5-0. In the fourth Gregorius hit
an RBI ground out and Andujar had a sac fly to cut the lead to 5-2. Cameron Maybin hit a two-run homerun in the
fifth to push the lead back up to 7-2.
In the sixth Gregorius hit a two-run homerun and the lead was cut to
7-4, Judge hit a solo homerun to make it 7-5 and that would be the final
score.
