New York Yankees come up short to the Miami Marlins


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Miami Marlins on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, Florida and the final score was 7-5.  Jordan Montgomery started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch well.  The Yankees offense managed six hits but no one had more then a hit. 

Montgomery pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up five hits and four runs.  He walked two and struck out three and took the loss.  Brady Lail pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up three hits and a run with two strikeouts, Wade LeBlanc pitched two innings giving up two hits and two runs with a couple of strikeouts and Cody Carroll pitched an inning with a walk and three strikeouts.  Joe Harvey pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout. 

Aaron Hicks drew a walk, Aaron Judge had a hit and an RBI and Greg Bird had a hit and drew a walk.  Gary Sanchez had a hit, Didi Gregorius had a hit and three RBI and Miguel Andujar had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Jake Cave had a hit, Andujar hit a triple and Gregorius and Judge each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Cave was picked off and Bird commited an error.  Sanchez had a pickoff. 

In the second Miguel Rojas hit a two-run double to give the Marlins a 2-0 lead.  In the third Brian Anderson hit a three-run homerun to push the Marlins lead to 5-0.  In the fourth Gregorius hit an RBI ground out and Andujar had a sac fly to cut the lead to 5-2.  Cameron Maybin hit a two-run homerun in the fifth to push the lead back up to 7-2.  In the sixth Gregorius hit a two-run homerun and the lead was cut to 7-4, Judge hit a solo homerun to make it 7-5 and that would be the final score.
