The New York Yankees were defeated
by the Boston Red Sox on Thursday night.
The game took place at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts and the
final score was 6-3. Sonny Gray started
for the Yankees and he wasn’t very good, the bullpen pitched well. The Yankees offense only managed four hits
but Sanchez had three RBI.
Gray pitched three innings giving
up seven hits and six runs. He walked
two and struck out three and took his first loss of the season. Domingo German pitched three innings giving
up a hit and struck out three, Tommy Khanle pitched an inning with a walk and
two strikeouts and Adam Warren pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.
Rick Porcello won his third game of
the season pitching seven innings and giving up two hits and no runs with six
strikeouts. Marcus Walden pitched an
inning giving up two hits and three runs with two of them being earned and he
walked two and struck out two and Craig Kimbrel pitched a perfect inning with
two strikeouts.
Aaron Judge had a hit and drew a
walk, Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and Didi Gregorius drew a walk. Sanchez had a hit and three RBI, Ronald
Torreyes had a hit and Judge, Torreyes and Sanchez each hit a double. The Yankees were 2-9 with runners in scoring
position and left five men on base. Stanton
had a stolen base and Wade committed an error.
Mookie Betts had two RBI, Andrew
Benintendi had two hits and an RBI and Mitch Moreland had two hits and an
RBI. Eduardo Nunez had two hits, Tzu-Wei
Lin drew a walk and Jackie Bradley Jr.
had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.
Sandy Leon had a hit and an RBI,
Brock Holt drew a walk and Nunez and Bradley Jr. each hit a double. The Red Sox were 3-11 with runners in scoring
position and left eight men on base.
Devers committed an error.
In the second Leon hit an RBI
single, Betts hit a sac fly, Benintendi reached on a fielder’s choice and
Moreland hit an RBI single giving Boston a 4-0 lead. In the third Bradley Jr. hit an RBI double to
push their lead to 5-0. Betts hit an RBI
ground out and it was 6-0. In the ninth
Sanchez hit a three-run double to cut the lead to 6-3 but that would be the
final score.
The Yankees lost two out of three
games to Boston and will now head to Detroit for a three-game series that
begins on Friday night.
