New York Yankees lose in heartbreaking fashion in Game 6 as Houston Astros clinch the pennant


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Houston Astros on Saturday night.  The game took place at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas and the final score was 5-3.  Chad Green was the opener for the Yankees and didn’t pitch well, most of the bullpen behind him pitched well.   Gio Urshela had three hits and Didi had two hits to lead the offense. 

Green pitched an inning giving up two hits and three runs with a walk and a strikeout.  J.A. Happ pitched two innings giving up a walk, Luis Cessa pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out one and Tommy Khanle pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and two strikeouts.  Adam Ottavino pitched an inning with a strikeout, Zack Britton pitched an inning giving up a hit and he walked two and Aroldis Chapman took the loss pitching 2/3 of an inning and giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and a strikeout. 

Brad Peacock started for the Astros and he pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and two strikeouts.  Josh James pitched an inning giving up a hit and two walks with a strikeout, Ryan Pressly pitched to one batter and got him out and Jose Urquidy pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up three hits and a run with a walk and five strikeouts.  Will Harris pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit, Joe Smith pitched an inning giving up a hit and a strikeout and Roberto Osuna pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with two strikeouts.  Osuna won the game and he also blew the save. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit and two RBI, Aaron Judge had a hit and drew a walk and Gleyber Torres had a hit.  Edwin Encarnacion drew a walk, Gregorius had two hits and Gary Sanchez had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Urshela had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Brett Gardner had a hit.  Gregorius hit a double, Urshela and LeMahieu each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Sanchez had a passed ball. 

George Springer drew two walks, Jose Altuve had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk and Michael Brantley had a hit and drew a walk.  Alex Bregman had an RBI and drew a walk, Yuli Gurriel had two hits and three RBI and Carlos Correa drew a walk.  Martin Maldonado had a hit, Altuve hit a double and Gurriel and Altuve each hit a homerun.  The Astros were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Correa had a stolen base and Brantley had an outfield assist. 

In the first Gurriel hit a three-run homerun to give the Astros a 3-0 lead.  In the second Sanchez hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 3-1.  In the fourth Urshela hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 3-2.  In the sixth Bregman hit an RBI ground out to push the lead to 4-2.  In the ninth LeMahieu hit a two-run homerun to tie the game at four.  In the bottom of the ninth Altuve hit a walk-off two-run homerun to win the game and the series for the Astros.  The final score was 6-4.

New York Yankees win Game 5 to survive and head to Houston


The New York Yankees defeated the Houston Astros in Game 5 on Friday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 4-1.  James Paxton started for the Yankees and he pitched very well.  The Yankees offense struck all in the first inning led by Aaron Hicks three-run homerun. 

Paxton pitched six innings giving up four hits and a run with four walks and nine strikeouts.  Paxton earned the win.  Tommy Khanle pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk, Zack Britton pitched 1 2/3 innings with two strikeouts and Aroldis Chapman earned his first save of the season pitching an inning with a strikeout. 

Justin Verlander pitched seven innings giving up five hits and four runs with no walks and nine strikeouts.  Verlander took the loss and Brad Peacock pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit and an RBI, Aaron Judge had a hit and Gleyber Torres had a hit.  Hicks had a hit and three RBI, Didi Gregorius had a hit and Torres hit a double.  LeMahieu and Hicks each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 1-2 with runners in scoring position and left one man on base.  Sanchez had a passed ball. 

George Springer had two hits, Jose Altuve drew two walks and Michael Brantley drew a walk.  Alex Bregman had a hit, Carlos Correa had a hit and drew two walks and Jake Marisnick had a hit.  The Astros were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. 

In the first a wild pitch gave the Astros a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first LeMahieu hit a solo homerun to tie the game and Hicks hit a three-run homerun giving the Yankees a 4-1 lead and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game six on Saturday night in Houston.

New York Yankees drop Game 2 in extra innings to even the ALCS


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Houston Astros on Sunday night.  The game took place at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas and the final score was 3-2 in 11 innings.  James Paxton started for the Yankees and didn’t have his control and didn’t last long.  The Yankees bullpen pitched well and Aaron Judge produced the only runs with a two run homerun. 

James Paxton pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up four hits and a run with two walks and three strikeouts.  Chad Green pitched two innings giving up two strikeouts, Adam Ottavino pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with two strikeouts and Tommy Khanle pitched 2 1/3 innings with two strikeouts.  Zack Britton pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout, Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning with a walk and three strikeouts and CC Sabathia faced one batter and got him out.  Jonathan Loaisiga gave up two walks without recording an out and J.A. Happ took the loss pitching 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout. 

Justin Verlander pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up five hits and two runs with two walks and seven strikeouts.  Will Harris pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two, Roberto Osuna pitched 1 2/3 innings with two strikeouts and Joe Smith pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a walk.  Ryan Pressly pitched giving up a hit and not recording an out and Josh James won the game pitching to one batter and striking him out.

In the second Correa hit an RBI double to give the Astros a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Judge hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  In the fifth Springer hit a solo homerun tying the game at two.  In the 11th inning Correa hit a solo homerun to give the Astros a 3-2 walk-off win.  The series is tied 1-1 and will head to the Bronx for the next three games beginning on Tuesday afternoon.   

New York Yankees take Game 1 of ALCS at the Houston Astros


The New York Yankees defeated the Houston Astros on Saturday night in Game 1 of the ALCS.  The game took place at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas and the final score was 7-0.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he pitched brilliantly.  The Yankees bullpen finished the job and the offense was led by Gleyber Torres who had five RBI. 

Tanaka pitched six innings giving up one hit and no runs.  He walked one and struck out four and picked up the victory.  Adam Ottavino pitched an inning giving up two hits and no runs, Zack Britton pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two and Jonathan Loaisiga pitched a perfect inning. 

Zack Greinke pitched six innings giving up seven hits and three runs.  He walked none and struck out six and took the loss.  Ryan Pressly pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up four hits and two runs with a strikeout, Josh James pitched 1 1/3 innings with three strikeouts and Bryan Abreu pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs with two walks.  Hector Rondon pitched to one batter and struck him out. 

DJ LeMahieu had two hits and drew a walk, Aaron Judge had two hits and Torres had three hits and five RBI.  Edwin Encarnacion drew a walk, Giancarlo Stanton had two hits and an RBI and Gary Sanchez had a hit.  Gio Urshela had two hits and an RBI, Didi Gregorius had a hit and Torres hit a double.  Torres, Stanton and Urshela each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 3-11 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Judge had a stolen base and an outfield assist. 

Michael Brantley had a hit, Jose Altuve had a hit and Alex Bregman drew a walk.  Yuli Gurriel drew a walk, Kyle Tucker had a hit and the Astros were 0-1 with runners in scoring position and left two men on base.  Springer committed an error. 

In the fourth Torres hit an RBI double to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead and in the sixth a Torres solo homerun pushed the lead to 2-0.  Stanton hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 3-0.  In the seventh Torres hit a two-run single and the lead was pushed to 5-0.  In the ninth Urshela hit a solo homerun and Torres hit an RBI ground out to make it 7-0 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees have a 1-0 series lead and the two teams will play game two on Sunday night.

New York Yankees complete ALDS Sweep of the Minnesota Twins


The New York Yankees defeated the Minnesota Twins in Game 3 of the ALDS.  The game took place at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota and the final score was 5-1.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  The Yankees bullpen pitched well and Gleyber Torres had three hits to lead the offense. 

Severino pitched four innings giving up four hits and no runs with two walks and four strikeouts.  Tommy Khanle pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit, Adam Ottavino gave up a walk to the only batter he faced and Chad Green earned the victory pitching 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and he struck out one.  Zack Britton pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a run and Aroldis Chapman earned the saved pitching 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with three strikeouts. 

Jake Odorizzi lost the game pitching five innings and giving up two runs and he struck out five.  Taylor Rogers pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with two strikeouts, Sergio Romo pitched 1 1/3 inings giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and Trevor May pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Brett Gardner had a hit and an RBI, Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and Cameron Maybin had a hit and an RBI.  Torres had three hits and an RBI, Gary Sanchez had a hit and drew a walk and Didi Gregorius had two hits and two RBI.  Gio Urshela had a hit which was a double and Torres hit two doubles.  Torres and Maybin each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 3-10 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Torres had a stolen base. 

Max Kepler drew a walk, Jorge Polanco had a hit and Nelson Cruz drew a walk.  Eddie Rosario had three hits and an RBI, Mitch Garver drew a walk and Luis Arraez had two hits.  Marwin Gonzalez had a hit, Jake Cave had a hit and C.J. Cron had a hit and drew a walk.  Rosario and Arraez each hit a double and Rosario hit a homerun.  The Twins were 1-12 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Garver committed an error. 

In the second Torres hit a solo homerun giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the third Gardner hit an RBI single to push the lead to 2-0.  In the seventh Gregorius hit an RBI single to push the lead to 3-0.  Rosario hit a solo homerun in the eighth to cut the lead to 3-1.  In the ninth Maybin hit a solo homerun and Gregorius hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 5-1 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees swept the ALDS best of five series with three straight victories and they move on to the ALCS.  They will await their opponent as the Houston Astros and Tampa Bay Rays continue to battle.  The series will begin Saturday.

New York Yankees take a commanding 2-0 series lead over the Minnesota Twins


The New York Yankees defeated the Minnesota Twins in Game 2 of the ALDS on Saturday evening.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 8-2.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he pitched very well.  The Yankees bullpen also did a good job and Aaron Judge, Edwin Encarnacion, Didi Gregorius and Gio Urshela each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Tanaka pitched five innings giving up a run on three hits.  He walked one and struck out seven and earned the win.  Tommy Khanle pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts, Adam Ottavino pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Tyler Lyons pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts.  Jonathan Loaisiga pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with two strikeouts. 

Randy Dobnak pitched two innings giving up six hits and four runs with two walks.  Dobnak took the loss.  Tyler Duffey pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and four runs with a walk and a strikeout, Devin Smeltzer pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up two hits and three walks with four strikeouts and Cody Stashak  pitched 2/3 of an inning  giving up a hit and a walk.  Trevor May pitched to one batter and retired him, Sergio Romo pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one and Zack Littell pitched to one batter and retired him.

Nelson Cruz had a hit and drew a walk, Eddie Rosario had a hit and Mitch Garver had two hits and an RBI.  Luis Arraez had two hits and an RBI, Arraez hit two doubles and the Twins were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

In the first Encarnacion hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the third Stanton hit a sac fly to push the lead to 2-0.  Torres hit an RBI single and Gregorius hit a grand-slam and the lead was up to 7-0.  Gardner hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 8-0.  In the fourth Garver hit an RBI single cutting the lead to 8-1.  In the ninth Arraez hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 8-2 but that would be the final score.  The Yankees took a 2-0 series lead and head to Minnesota for Game 3 on Monday night with a chance to close out the series and move on to the ALCS.

New York Yankees take Game 1 of ALDS


The New York Yankees defeated the Minnesota Twins in Game 1 of the ALDS on Friday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 10-4.  James Paxton started for the Yankees and he pitched well, the bullpen did their job and DJ LeMahieu led the offense with three hits and four RBI. 

Paxton pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up five hits and three runs with a walk and eight strikeouts.  Adam Ottavino pitched to one batter and walked him, Tommy Khanle earned the win pitching 2/3 of an inning and giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout and Chad Green pitched 2/3 of an inning.  Zack Britton pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout, J.A. Happ pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts and Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one. 

Jose Berrios pitched four innings giving up four hits and three runs with one being earned.  He walked three and struck out six.  Zack Littell pitched giving up two runs and a walk, Tyler Duffey pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with three strikeouts and Cody Stashak pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs.  Kyle Gibson pitched an inning giving up a hit and three runs with three walks and a strikeout and Brusdar Graterol pitched an inning striking out two. 

LeMahieu had three hits and four RBI, Aaron Judge had a hit and drew two walks and Brett Gardner had a hit and an RBI.  Edwin Encarnacion had two hits and an RBI, Giancarlo Stanton drew three walks and Gleyber Torres had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk.  Gary Sanchez drew a walk, Didi Gregorius drew a walk and Encarnacion hit two doubles and Torres and LeMahieu each hit a double.  LeMahieu and Gardner each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 3-13 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Maybin had two stolen bases and Torres had a stolen base.  LeMahieu committed an error and Sanchez had a passed ball. 

Jorge Polanco had two hits, two RBI and drew two walks, Nelson Cruz had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks and Miguel Sano had a hit and an RBI.  Max Kepler drew two walks, Marwin Gonzalez had two hits and Luis Arraez had a hit.  Gonzalez and Arraez each hit a double.  Polanco, Cruz and Sano each hit a homerun and the Twins were 1-9 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Polanco had a stolen base and Cron committed an error. 

In the first Polanco hit a solo homerun to give the Twins a 1-0 lead.  In the third Cruz hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 2-0.  In the third Encarnacion hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 2-1.  Torres grounded into a forceout but an error allowed two runs to score and give the Yankees a 3-2 lead.  In the fifth Polanco hit an RBI single to tie the game at three.  In the bottom of the fifth Torres hit a two-run double to give the Yankees a 5-3 lead.  In the sixth Sano hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 5-4.  In the bottom of the sixth LeMahieu hit a solo homerun and Gardner hit a solo homerun extending the Yankees lead to 7-4.  In the bottom of the seventh LeMahieu hit a three-run double and it was 10-4 Yankees which would be the final score.  The Yankees take a 1-0 series lead and Game 2 will be played on Saturday evening at Yankee Stadium before switching to Minnesota for the next couple of games beginning on Monday night.

New York Mets defeated the Atlanta Braves


The New York Mets defeated the Atlanta Braves on Saturday.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 3-0.  Steven Matz started for the Mets and he pitched well.  The Mets offense only managed four hits. 

Matz pitched six innings giving up two hits and no runs and walked five and struck out seven.  Matz won his 11th game of the season.  Jeurys Familia pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two, Brad Brach pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Edwin Diaz pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and saved his 26th game of the season. 

Mike Foltynewicz pitched four innings giving up three hits and three runs with a walk and five strikeouts and lost his sixth game of the season.  Max Fried pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with five strikeouts and Chris Martin pitched to one batter and struck him out. 

Brandon Nimmo drew a walk, Pete Alonso had a hit and an RBI and J.D. Davis drew a walk.  Amed Rosario had a hit, Todd Frazier had a hit and Rene Rivera had a hit and two RBI.  Rivera hit a homerun and Alonso hit a homerun.  The Mets were 1-1 with runners in scoring position and left one man on base.  Rosario was caught stealing. 

Ozzie Albies had a hit, Freddie Freeman had a hit and drew a walk and Nick Markakis drew a walk.  Adam Duvall had two hits, Brian McCann drew two walks and Billy Hamilton drew a walk.  Duvall hit a triple and the Braves were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base. 

In the third Alonso hit a three-run homerun and that was the only scoring in the game. 

Alonso set the rookie record with 53 homeruns and the Mets finished their season at 85-76 which is something to build on especially since they had such a poor first half and rallied in the second half of the season. 

New York Yankees lose their final regular season game to the Texas Rangers


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Texas Rangers on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Globe Life Park in Arlington and was the last game every played in the stadium and the final score was 6-1.  Chad Green was the opener for the Yankees and Masahiro Tanaka made his first relief appearance for the Yankees and they pitched well.  The Yankees offense only managed three hits. 

Green pitched an inning giving up a hit and an unearned run with a walk and two strikeouts.  Tanaka lost his ninth game of the season pitching three innings giving up five hits and two runs with one being earned.  He walked one and struck out two.  Tommy Khanle pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a walk, Adam Ottavino pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and Zack Britton pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.  Aroldis Chapman pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Lance Lynn won his 16th game of the season pitching 7 1/3 innings and giving up two hits and a run with a walk and ten strikeouts.  Jose Leclerc pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out three. 

Aaron Judge had a hit and an RBI, Clint Frazier had a hit and Brett Gardner drew a walk.  Gary Sanchez had a hit, Judge hit a homerun and the Yankees left three men on base.  Sanchez and Tanaka each committed an error. 

Shin-Soo Choo had a hit and drew three walks, Elvis Andrus had two hits and Willie Calhoun had a hit and an RBI.  Danny Santana had a hit and an RBI, Roughned Odor had a hit and Ronald Guzman had a hit and two RBI.  Delino DeShields had a hit, Jose Trevino had two hits and Choo hit a double.  The Rangers were 3-12 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Choo had a stolen base and Andrus had two stolen bases. 

In the first Choo stole third base and scored on a throwing error to give them a 1-0 lead.  In the third Judge hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the bottom of the third a throwing error by Tanaka allowed Texas to take a 2-1 lead and then Santana hit an RBI single making it 3-1.  In the fifth Guzman hit a two-run single to push the lead to 5-1 and in the bottom of the sixth Calhoun hit a sac fly making it 6-1 which was the final score. 

The Texas Rangers are going home for the season and the Yankees will have a rest and open up the ALDS on Friday night at Yankee Stadium. 




The New York Yankees fall to the Texas Rangers


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Texas Rangers on Saturday.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees and he just had a three inning tune up where he pitched ok and the bullpen used a lot of guys and was up and down.  No player had more then a hit for the offense.

Severino pitched three innings giving up a hit and two runs with four walks and four strikeouts and lost his first game of the season.  David Hale, pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout, Tyler Lyons pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one and Luis Cessa pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and four runs with four walks and a strikeout.  Nestor Cortes Jr. pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up four hits and two runs, Ben Heller pitched an inning with a  strikeout and Cory Gearrin pitched an inning with a  walk and a strikeout. 

Luke Farrell pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run, Jonathan Hernandez pitched two innings giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts and Brett Martin pitched an inning giving up a hit.  Emmanuel Clase pitched two innings giving up two hits and a strikeout, Rafael Montero pitched an inning with three strikeouts and Jose Leclerc pitched an inning giving up two hits and three runs with a walk and a strikeout.   

Aaron Judge had a hit, Clint Frazier drew a walk and Brett Gardner had an RBI.  Tyler Wade had a hit, Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and Didi Gregorius had a hit and three RBI.  Gio Urshela had a hit, Austin Romine had a hit and Mike Ford had a hit and drew a walk.  Gregorius hit a double and Judge hit a triple and the Yankees were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Severino and Romine each committed an error and Judge had an outfield assist.  Cessa had a pickoff. 

Shin-Soo Choo had a hit and drew a walk, Elvis Andrus drew two walks and Willie Calhoun had an RBI and drew a walk.  Danny Santana drew two walks, Roughned Odor had two hits, six RBI and drew a walk and Scott Heineman had two hits and drew three walks.  Ronald Guzman had a hit and drew a walk, Jose Trevino had a hit and an RBI and Isiah Kiner-Falefa had two hits and an RBI.  Odor, Heineman and Trevino each hit a double.  Odor hit a homerun and the Rangers were 4-14 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Choo had a stolen base, Santana had two stolen bases and Odor and Heineman each had a stolen base.  Odor was caught stealing and picked off. 

In the first Gardner hit a sac fly to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Odor hit a two-run double to give them a 2-1 lead.  In the fourth Trevino hit an RBI double to push the lead to 3-1.  In the sixth Calhoun drew an RBI walk and Odor hit a grand slam to extend the lead to 8-1.  Kiner-Falefa hit an RBI single and it was 9-1.  In the ninth Gregorius hit a three-run double and the lead was cut to 9-4 which would be the final score. 

The two teams will play the third and final game of the series and final game of the regular season for the Yankees on Sunday afternoon.

New York Mets pound the Miami Marlins


The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 10-3.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and pitched great.  Michael Conforto led the offense with three hits. 

deGrom won his 11th game of the season pitching seven innings and giving up two hits and no runs with a walk and seven strikeouts.  Tyler Bashlor pitched an inning with a walk and two strikeouts and Drew Gagnon pitched an inning giving up two hits and three unearned runs with a strikeout. 

Robert Dugger lost his fourth game of the season pitching two innings and giving up six hits and seven runs with six of them being earned.  He walked two and struck out three.  Wei-Yin Chen pitched three innings giving up four hits and two runs with three strikeouts, Josh D. Smith pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and Adam Conley pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.  Hector Noesi pitched an inning with a walk and three strikeouts.  

Brandon Nimmo had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks, Jeff McNeil had a hit and two RBI and Pete Alonso had a hit and three RBI with a walk.  Conforto had three hits and an RBI, Wilson Ramos had an RBI and Robinson Cano had a hit.  Joe Panik drew a walk, Todd Frazier had a hit and Amed Rosario had two hits and an RBI.  deGrom had a hit, Rajai Davis had a hit and an RBI and McNeil, Cano, Rosario and Nimmo each hit a double.  Conforto hit two doubles.  Alonso hit a homerun and the Mets were 5-10 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Frazier committed an error. 

Neil Walker had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Jorge Alfaro had a hit and two RBI and Isan Diaz had a hit.  Austin Dean drew a walk, Tyler Heineman had a hit and it was a double.  Alfaro hit a homerun and the Marlins were 1-3 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Brinson committed an error. 

In the first McNeil hit an RBI double, Conforto hit an RBI double and Ramos hit a sac fly giving the Mets a 3-0 lead.  In the second McNeil hit a sac fly and Alonso hit a three-run homerun pushing the lead to 7-0.  In the third Rosario hit an RBI double and Nimmo hit an RBI double to extend the lead to 9-0.  In the seventh Davis hit an RBI single and the lead was 10-0.  In the ninth Walker hit an RBI single and Alfaro hit a two-run homerun cutting the lead to 10-3 but that was the final score. 


Yankees are shutout in Tampa


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida and the final score was 4-0.  Jonathan Loaisiga started and J.A. Happ came out of the bullpen.  Happ pitched well and the rest of the pen pitched well also but the offense only managed one hit. 

Loaisiga took his second loss of the season pitching an inning and giving up four hits and two runs with two strikeouts.  Happ pitched five innings giving up four hits and a run with a walk and six strikeouts, Tommy Khanle pitched 1/3 of an inning and gave up a walk and Cory Gearrin pitched to one batter and got him out.  Stephen Tarpley pitched 2/3 of an inning, Luis Cessa gave up a hit and a run without recording an out and Aroldis Chapman pitched to two batters and struck them both out. 

Charlie Morton won his 16th game of the season pitching six innings and giving up a hit and no runs.  He walked three and struck out nine.  Diego Castillo pitched an inning with a strikeout, Oliver Drake pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two walks and Nick Anderson pitched to one batter and struck him out.  Andrew Kittredge pitched an inning striking out three. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit and drew a walk, Aaron Judge drew a walk and Luke Voit drew two walks.  Tyler Wade drew a walk and the Yankees were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Torres committed an error and Wade had an outfield assist.  Higashioka had a pickoff. 

Joey Wendle had a hit and an RBI, Austin Meadows had a hit and Ji-Man Choi had a hit.  Avisail Garcia had two hits and an RBI, Brandon Lowe had a hit and an RBI and Matt Duffy had a hit and an RBI.  Kevin Kiermaier had a hit, Willy Adames had a hit and drew a walk and Duffy hit a double.  Wendle and Garcia each hit a homerun and the Rays were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Wendle was picked off. 

In the first Wendle hit a two-run homerun to give the Rays a 1-0 lead.  Lowe hit an RBI single to push the lead to 2-0.  In the sixth Duffy hit an RBI double and in the eighth Garcia hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 4-0 which was the final score.

New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins in extra innings


The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-4 in 11 innings.  Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and he pitched ok, the bullpen pitched well.  Michael Conforto had three hits and four RBI to lead the offense. 

Syndergaard started and pitched five innings giving up ten hits and four runs with seven strikeouts.  Chris Mazza pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two walks and three strikeouts, Luis Avilan pitched to one batter and struck him out and Seth Lugo pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts.  Justin Wilson pitched an inning with a walk, Jeurys Familia pitched an inning giving up a hit and Paul Sewald pitched an inning with two strikeouts and he won his first game of the season. 

Sandy Alcantara pitched seven innings giving up six hits and two runs with six strikeouts.  Jarlin Garcia pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Jose Urena pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs and Brian Moran pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two.  Adam Conley pitched giving up a run and a walk and took his tenth loss of the season and Jeff Brigham pitched 1/3 of an inning walking two. 

Brandon Nimmo had an RBI and drew a walk, Jeff McNeil had two hits and Robinson Cano had a hit and drew a walk.  J.D. Davis had two hits, Conforto had three hits, four RBI and drew a walk and Amed Rosario had a hit.  Todd Frazier drew a walk, Davis hit a double and Conforto hit two homeruns.  The Mets were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Rosario had a stolen base. 

Jon Berti had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Miguel Rojas had a hit and Neil Walker had two hits and drew a walk.  Jorge Alfaro had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Isan Diaz had two hits and two RBI and Harold Ramirez had a hit.  Austin Dean had a hit which was a double, Walker hit two doubles and Diaz hit a homerun.  The Marlins were 4-16 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Berti had four stolen bases and Rojas and Alfaro each had a stolen base.  Ramirez was caught stealing and Walker committed an error. 

In the second Diaz hit a solo homerun and Berti hit an RBI single to give the Marlins a 2-0 lead.  In the third Diaz hit an RBI single to push the lead to 3-0.  In the fifth Alfaro hit an RBI single making it 4-0.  In the seventh Conforto hit a two-run homerun cutting the lead to 4-2 and in the bottom of the ninth Conforto hit a two-run homerun tying the game at four.  In the 11th Nimmo drew an RBI walk to literally walk-off the Mets with a  5-4 victory. 

New York Yankees lose a close one in extra innings to the Tampa Bay Rays


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida and the final score was 2-1.  Jordan Montgomery started for the Yankees but only pitched a couple of scoreless innings.  The bullpen arms which were many also pitched well.  The Yankees didn’t have a batter who had more then a hit. 

Montgomery pitched two innings giving up three hits and no runs with no walks and three strikeouts.  Ben Heller pitched an inning giving up a hit and striking out one, CC Sabathia pitched an inning with two strikeouts and Stephen Tarpley pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout.  Tyler Lyons pitched to one batter and walked him, Luis Cessa pitched an inning with two walks and otwo strikeouts and Tommy Khanle pitched an inning with a strikeout.  Zack Britton pitched an inning with a  strikeout, Adam Ottavino pitched an inning with a strikeout and Chad Green pitched two perfect innings with five strikeouts.  Cory Gearrin lost his third game of the season pitching giving up a hit and a run. 

Yonny Chirinos pitched three innings giving up a hit and a run, Andrew Kittredge pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and Brendan McKay pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a walk with three strikeouts.  Diego Castillo pitched 1 1/3 innings, Emilio Pagan pitched an inning giving up a hit and striking out two and Colin Poche pitched an inning with a strikeout.  Oliver Drake pitched 2/3 of an inning with a strikeout.  Chaz Roe pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out three and Peter Fairbanks pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and won his second game of the season.

Tommy Pham had a hit, Austin Meadows had two hits and drew a walk and Travis d’Arnaud had a hit.  Ji-Man Choi had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Matt Duffy had a hit and drew a walk and Kevin Kiermaier had a hit and an RBI.  d’Arnaud hit a double and Kiermaier and Choi each hit a homerun.  The Rays were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Meadows and Pham were each caught stealing and Pham was picked off. 

In the third Maybin hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth Kiermaier hit a solo homerun tying the game at one.  In the 12th Choi hit a walk-off homerun to give the Rays a 2-1 victory.

The New York Mets were defeated by the Miami Marlins on Monday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 8-4.  Steven Matz started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch well.  J.D. Davis had three hits to lead the offense. 

Matz pitched five innings giving up nine hits and six runs with no walks and three strikeouts.  Matz lost his 10th game of the season.  Jeurys Familia pitched an inning giving up a hit, Walker Lockett pitched giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and Brad Brach pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk.  Luis Avilan pitched to one batter and got him out, Edwin Diaz pitched an inning with two strikeouts and Paul Sewald pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Caleb Smith pitched six innings giving up seven hits and four runs with four walks and three strikeouts and he picked up his 10th win of the season.  Tyler Kinley pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout, Brian Moran pitched to one batter and struck him out and Jose Quijada pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one.  Ryne Stanek pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.

In the second Alfaro hit a solo homerun to give the Marlins a 1-0 lead.  In the third Rojas hit an RBI single to give the Marlins a 2-0 lead.  In the sixth Alfaro hit a grand slam to give the Marlins a 6-0 lead.  In the bottom of the sixth Rosario hit a grand slam to cut the lead to 6-4.  In the seventh Ramirez hit a two-run single to push the lead to 8-4 and that would be the final score.

New York Mets double up the Cincinnati Reds


The New York Mets defeated the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio and the final score was 6-3.  Marcus Stroman started for the Mets and he pitched ok, the Mets bullpen pitched well.  Michael Conforto led the offense with two hits and three RBI. 

Stroman pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up three hits and two runs with three walks and two strikeouts.  Brad Brach won his fifth game of the season pitching 1 1/3 innings and giving up two hits and he struck out one, Edwin Diaz pitched an inning giving up two walks and three strikeouts and Seth Lugo pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run.  Justin Wilson picked up his fourth save of the season pitching an inning with a walk and two strikeouts. 

Trevor Bauer lost his 13th game of the season pitching seven innings and giving up six hits and five runs.  He walked none and struck out eight.  Matt Bowman pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk and Sal Romano pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout. 

Brandon Nimmo had a hit and an RBI, Jeff McNeil had a hit and Pete Alonso had a hit and drew a walk.  Robinson Cano had a hit and an RBI, J.D. In the first Cano hit an RBI double and Conforto hit a three-run homerun giving the Mets a 4-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Aquino hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 4-1.  In the fifth Farmer hit a solo homerun making it a 4-2 game.  In the sixth Davis hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 5-2.  In the bottom of the eighth Barnhart hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 5-3 and in the ninth Nimmo hit a solo homerun extending the lead to 6-3.  The final score was 6-3.

The New York Mets were defeated by the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday.  The game took place at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati, Ohio and the final score was 3-2.  Zack Wheeler started for the Mets and he pitched well.  Todd Frazier led the offense with two of their three hits. 

Wheeler pitched seven innings giving up seven hits and two runs with one being earned.  He walked one and struck out six.  Justin Wilson lost his second game of the season pitching 1/3 of an inning and giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout.  Seth Lugo pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Anthony DeSclafani pitched six innings giving up three hits and two runs with one being earned.  He walked one and struck out seven.  Lucas Sims pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts, Amir Garrett pitched to two batters and got them both out and Joel Kuhnel pitched to one batter and got him out and earned his first win of the season.  Raisel Iglesias pitched a perfect inning with three strikeouts and earned his 34th save of the season. 

Brandon Nimmo had an RBI, Michael Conforto drew a walk and Frazier had two hits.  Amed Rosario had a hit, Wheeler had an RBI and Rosario hit a double.  The Mets were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Frazier committed an error. 

Phillip Ervin had two hits, Joey Votto had a hit and drew a walk and Eugenio Suarez had a hit.  Aristides Aquino had a hit and an RBI, Tucker Barnhart had a hit and Jose Iglesias had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Jose Peraza had a hit, Christian Colon had a hit and an RBI and Votto hit a double.  The Reds were 4-12 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Votto committed an error. 

In the first Aquino hit an RBI single to give the Reds a 1-0 lead.  Iglesias hit an RBI single and the lead was 2-0.  In the third Wheeler hit an RBI ground out to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the fifth Nimmo was hit by a pitch and a run scored to tie the game at two.  In the eighth Colon hit an RBI single to give them a 3-2 lead and that would be the final score.  The play was replay challenged but the call on the field was upheld.  The Reds won the game 3-2.

New York Yankees win to take series over the Toronto Blue Jays


The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 8-3.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees and he pitched great.  DJ LeMahieu and Aaron Judge each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Severino won his first game of the season pitching five innings and giving up three hits and no runs.  He walked none and struck out nine.  Stephen Tarpley pitched an inning giving up two hits and a walk and he struck out three, Tyler Lyons pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a strikeout and Nestor Cortes Jr. pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and two strikeouts. 

Wilmer Font pitched an inning giving up two hits and four runs with two walks and a strikeout and he lost his fifth game of the season.  Trent Thornton pitched five innings giving up five hits and four runs with three strikeouts, Jason Adam pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Buddy Boshers pitched an inning with a strikeout. 

LeMahieu had two hits and two RBI, Judge had two hits and an RBI and Giancarlo Stanton had an RBI and drew a walk.  Luke Voit had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Brett Gardner had a hit and three RBI and Austin Romine had a hit.  Judge, Gardner and LeMahieu each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 2-3 with runners in scoring position and left one man on base. 

Billy McKinney had two hits and three RBI, Cavan Biggio had a hit and Randall Grichuk had two hits.  Jonathan Davis had a hit, Reese McGuire had a hit and Rowdy Tellez drew a walk.  Richard Urena had a hit and drew a walk, Brandon Drury had a hit and it was a double and McKinney hit two homeruns.  The Blue Jays were 1-3 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base. 

In the first Judge hit a solo homerun and Gardner hit a three-run homerun to give the Yankees a 4-0 lead.  In the second LeMahieu hit a two-run homerun to push the lead to 6-0.  In the fifth Stanton hit a sac fly and it was 7-0.  Voit hit an RBI single to make it a 8-0 game.  In the seventh McKinney hit a two-run homerun and in the ninth McKinney hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 8-3 but that would be the final score. 

The Yankees won two out of three to take the series and finish not losing a series at home since April.  They lost their first three home series of the season and then didn’t lose another one all year.  They will head to Tampa for two games on Tuesday and Wednesday and finish the regular season in Texas over the weekend.

The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 7-2.  James Paxton started for the Yankees and he pitched great.  Mike Ford led the offense with three hits and a couple of RBI. 

Paxton pitched six innings giving up three hits and one unearned run.  He walked none and struck out seven and picked up his 15th victory of the season.  Jonathan Loaisiga pitched two innings giving up three hits and a run with five strikeouts and Chad Green pitched a perfect inning striking out the side. 

T.J. Zeuch pitched four innings giving up four hits and tow runs with six strikeouts and he lost his first game of the season.  Thomas Pannone pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout, Brock Stewart pitched an inning giving up five hits and four runs with a strikeout and Jordan Romano pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout.  Elvis Luciano pitched an inning with a walk and two strikeouts.

In the third Davis hit an RBI single to give the Blue Jays a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Stanton hit an RBI double, Ford hit an RBI single and the Yankees grabbed a 2-1 lead.  In the sixth Stanton hit a solo homerun, Frazier hit an RBI double and Higashioka hit a two-run single to push their lead to 6-1.  In the seventh Hernandez hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 6-2.  In the bottom of the seventh Ford hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 7-2 and that would be the final score.

New York Mets win in Colorado


The New York Mets defeated the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado and the final score was 6-1.  Marcus Stroman started and pitched great.  Pete Alonso, Wilson Ramos, Todd Frazier and Amed Rosario each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Stroman won his ninth game of the season pitching seven innings and giving up four hits and no runs.  He walked one and struck out seven.  Justin Wilson pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Luis Avilan pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run. 

Tim Melville pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up six hits and four runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  He lost his third game of the season.  Phillip Diehl pitched to one batter and gave up a hit, Yency Almonte pitched to one batter and struck him out and Wes Parsons pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with two walks and a strikeout.  Rico Garcia pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run.

Trevor Story had a hit, Charlie Blackmon had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Sam Hilliard had two hits.  Pat Valaika had a hit which was a double and Blackmon hit a homerun and the Rockies were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Blackmon was caught stealing. 

In the sixth Rosario hit a two-run homerun to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.  Nimmo hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 3-0.  Alonso hit a solo homerun and it was 4-0.  In the eighth Alonso hit an RBI single and in the ninth Frazier hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 6-0.  Blackmon hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the ninth to cut the lead to 6-1 and that was the final score. 


New York Yankees shutout the Anaheim Angels


The New York Yankees defeated the Anaheim Angels on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 8-0.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees and pitched well in his season debut and the bullpen pitched well.  DJ LeMahieu, Gleyber Torres, Gio Urshela and Cameron Maybin each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Severino pitched four innings giving up two hits and no runs with two walks and four strikeouts.  Jonathan Loaisiga won his second game of the season pitching two innings and giving up a walk and he struck out three, Stephen Tarpley pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up three hits and he struck out four and Cory Gearrin pitched 2/3 of an inning.  Chance Adams pitched an inning giving up a hit and he walked one and struck out two. 

Noe Ramirez pitched an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  Ramirez lost his fourth game of the season.  Jose Suarez pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and six runs with two walks and three strikeouts, Jose Rodriguez pitched three innings giving up a hit and three walks with two strikeouts.  Trevor Cahill pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

LeMahieu had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Aaron Judge drew a walk and Didi Gregorius had a hit and two RBI.  Torres had two hits and three RBI, Luke Voit drew two walks and Brett Gardner had a hit.  Urshela had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Maybin had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Maybin and Gregorius each hit a double.  Torres hit a homerun and the Yankees were 5-10 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

Brian Goodwin drew a walk, David Fletcher had two hits and Kole Calhoun had two hits.  Andrelton Simmons had a hit, Jared Walsh drew a walk and Matt Thaiss had a hit.  Michael Hermosillo drew two walks and the Angels were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. 

In the second Urshela hit an RBI single, Maybin hit an RBI double and the Yankees had a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth LeMahieu hit an RBI single, Gregorius hit a two-run double and Torres hit a three-run homerun to push their lead to 8-0 and that was the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Wednesday night and the Yankees can clinch the division with a win.  CC Sabathia will be making his final regular season start at Yankee Stadium.

New York Yankees lose to the Toronto Blue Jays and lose series


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada and the final score was 6-4.  Chad Green served as the opener and pitched well and was followed by Jordan Montgomery who wasn’t great.  Montgomery was making his first appearance since May 1, 2018 after Tommy John surgery.  The Yankees offense only had six hits and no player had more than a hit. 

Green pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two, Montgomery pitched two innings giving up four hits and three runs with two strikeouts, Dellin Betances made his first appearance of the season pitching to two batters and striking them both out.  Nestor Cortes Jr. lost his first game of the season pitching 1 1/3 innings giving up three hits and three runs with two walks and three strikeouts, Ben Heller pitched two innings giving up a walk and he struck out three and Tyler Lyons pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

Wilmer Font pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout, T.J. Zeuch pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up five hits and three runs with two of them being earned.  He walked three and struck out five, Derek Law pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a strikeout, Sam Gaviglio pitched an inning giving up a walk and struck out two and Ken Giles pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit and an RBI, Aaron Judge had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Didi Gregorius had a hit and an RBI.  Brett Gardner had a hit and drew two walks,Mike Ford drew a walk and Austin Romine had a hit.  Tyler Wade had a hit, LeMahieu and Romine each hit a double.  Judge hit a homerun and the Yankees were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  LeMahieu had a stolen base.  

Bo Bichette had two hits, Cavan Biggio drew a walk and Randall Grichuk had two hits and four RBI.  Teoscar Hernandez drew a walk, Reese McGuire had a hit and Brandon Drury had a hit.  Billy McKinney had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Richard Urena had a hit and an RBI.  Bichette, Drury and Urena each hit a double.  Grichuk hit two homeruns.  The Blue Jays were 3-10 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Urena committed an error. 

In the first Judge hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the second McKinney hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  Urena hit an RBI double to give the Blue Jays a 2-1 lead.  In the third LeMahieu hit an RBI double and Gregorius hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 3-2 lead.  In the bottom of the third Grichuk hit a solo homerun to tie the game at three.  In the fifth Grichuk hit a three-run homerun to give the Blue Jays a 6-3 lead.  In the seventh LeMahieu reached on a throwing error and a run scored to cut the lead to 6-4 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees lost two out of three in the series but finished a long road trip at 6-4.  They will be off on Monday and will begin a three-game series with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Tuesday night. 

The New York Mets shutout the Los Angeles Dodgers


The New York Mets defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 3-0.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he pitched great.  The Mets offense only produced three hits. 

deGrom pitched seven innings giving up three hits and no runs with no walks and eight strikeouts.  Seth Lugo won his sixth game of the season pitching a perfect inning with three strikeouts and Justin Wilson saved his third game of the season pitching a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Hyun-Jin Ryu pitched seven innings giving up two hits and no runs.  He walked none and struck out six.  Adam Kolarek pitched to one batter and struck him out, Joe Kelly lost his fourth game of the season pitching 1/3 of an inning giving up a run and he struck out one and Julio Urias pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and ow runs with a walk and a strikeout. 

Amed Rosario had a hit and drew a walk, Rajai Davis had a hit and three RBI and Robinson Cano had a hit.  Davis hit a double and the Mets were 1-2 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base. 

Cody Bellinger had a hit, Corey Seager had a hit and A.J. Pollock had a hit.  The Dodgers were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

In the eighth Davis hit a three-run double to give the Mets a 3-0 lead and that was the only scoring of the game.  The two teams have split the first two games of the series and will play the third and rubber game of the series on Sunday night.  

New York Yankees pound the Toronto Blue Jays


The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada and the final score was 13-3.  James Paxton started for the Yankees and he didn’t have his best stuff but grinded out for a good outing.  DJ LeMahieu had four hits and Brett Gardner had three hits and five RBI to lead the offense. 

Paxton won his 14th game of the season pitching five innings and giving up three hits and a run with two walks and three strikeouts.  Cory Gearrin pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one, Jonathan Loaisiga pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out two and Ryan Dull pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and three strikeouts. 

Jacob Waguespack pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and three runs with two walks and four strikeouts and he lost his fifth game of the season.  Brock Stewart pitched two innings giving up five hits and six runs with a walk and two strikeouts, Jason Adam pitched 1/3 of an inning and gave up a walk and Elvis Luciano pitched an inning giving up two hits.  Jordan Romano pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a  hit and Justin Shafer pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up four hits and four runs. 

LeMahieu had four hits, Aaron Judge had a hit and drew a walk and Clint Frazier had a hit.  Gleyber Torres had a hit and two RBI, Tyler Wade had an RBI and Luke Voit had two hits, two RBI and drew two walks.  Mike Ford had a hit and two RBI, Gio Urshela had two hits and Gardner had three hits and five RBI.  Cameron Maybin had a hit and drew a walk, Kyle Higashioka had a hit and Thairo Estrada had two hits and an RBI.  Gardner, Voit, Higashioka and Frazier each hit a double.  Gardner hit two homeruns and Torres, Voit and Ford each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 5-16 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.  Judge was caught stealing and Torres committed an error. 

Bo Bichette had an RBI and drew a walk, Richard Urena had a hit and two RBI and Randal Grichuk had a hit.  Anthony Alford had a hit, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. had two hits and Vlad Guerrero Jr. had a hit.  Teoscar Hernandez had a hit, Brandon Drury had two hits and Danny Jansen drew a walk.  Jonathan Davis drew a walk, Gurriel Jr. and Urena each hit a double.  The Blue Jays were 2-12 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.  Guerrero Jr. committed an error and Alford had an outfield assist. 

In the second Gardner hit an RBI double to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the third Voit hit an RBI double to push their lead to 2-0.  In the fourth Gardner hit a solo homerun making it 3-0 Yankees.  In the fifth Gardner hit a three-run homerun and the lead was extended to 6-0.  In the bottom of the fifth Bichette hit a sac fly cutting the lead to 6-1.  In the sixth Torres hit a two-run homerun followed immediately by a Voit solo homerun pushing the lead to 9-1.  In the ninth Estrada hit an RBI single, Wade hit an RBI ground out and Ford hit a two-run homerun to make it 13-1.  In the bottom of the ninth Urena hit a two-run double to make it 13-3. 

The two teams will play the third and final game on Sunday afternoon.  It will also be the rubber game as each team has won a game so far.   

The New York Mets lose to the Los Angeles Dodgers


The New York Mets were defeated by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 9-2.  Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch well.  The Mets offense didn’t produce much, no player had more than a hit. 

Syndergaard pitched five innings giving up five hits and four runs with two walks and four strikeouts.   He lost his eighth game of the season.  Jeurys Familia pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout, Luis Avilan pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout and Walker Lockett pitched two innings giving up three hits and two runs. 

Clayton Kershaw pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up four hits and two runs with three walks and five strikeouts.  Kershaw won his 14th game of the season.  Joe Kelly pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit, Casey Sadler pitched a perfect inning and Josh Sborz pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout. 

Amed Rosario had a hit and an RBI, J.D. Davis had a hit and an RBI and Wilson Ramos had a hit and drew a walk.  Robinson Cano had ah it, Todd Frazier had a hit and Michael Conforto drew a walk.  Pete Alonso drew two walks, Davis hit a homerun and the Mets were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

Joc Pederson had two hits, Max Muncy drew two walks and Chris Taylor had a hit and two RBI.  Cody Bellinger had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Corey Seager had two hits and A.J. Pollock had a hit and an RBI.  Gavin Lux had two hits and three RBI, Edwin Rios had a hit and two RBI and Taylor hit a double.  Lux and Rios each hit a homerun and the Dodgers were 4-5 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Beaty had a stolen base. 

In the first Davis hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Pollock hit an RBI single and Lux hit a three-run homerun to give the Dodgers a 4-1 lead.  In the seventh Taylor hit a two-run double to push their lead to 6-1.  Bellinger hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 7-1.  In the bottom of the seventh Rosario hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 7-2.  In the eighth Rios hit a two-run homerun to make it a 9-2 game and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday.
