The New York Mets were defeated by the
Miami Marlins on Sunday afternoon. The game
took place at Marlins Park in Miami, Florida and the final score was 3-0. Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and he
pitched well. J.D. Davis had two hits
and that was all the offense produced.
Syndergaard pitched seven innings
giving up five hits and two runs with a walk and three strikeouts. He lost his fourth game of the season and Seth
Lugo pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts.
Sandy Alcantara pitched a complete
game. He gave up two hits and no runs
with a walk and eight strikeouts and earned his second win of the season.
Davis had two hits, Pete Alonso
drew a walk and that was it for the Mets offense. They were 0-1 with runners in scoring
position and left one man on base.
Curtis Granderson had a hit and an
RBI, Neil Walker had two hits and Miguel Rojas had an RBI and drew a walk. Chad Wallach had a hit, Rosell Herrera had a
hit and Alcantara had a hit. Herrera and
Walker each hit a double and Granderson hit a homerun. The Marlins were 1-3 with runners in scoring
position and left three men on base.
Alcantara committed an error.
In the sixth Granderson hit into a
double play but a run scored to give the Marlins a 1-0 lead. In the seventh Rojas hit a sac fly to push
the Marlins lead to 2-0 and in the eighth Granderson hit a solo homerun to make
it 3-0 and that would be the final score.
The Mets were swept in the three
game series and will now head home to take on the Washington Nationals on
Monday night in the start of a four-game series.
