The New York Mets were defeated by the Miami Marlins on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Marlins Park in Miami, Florida and the final score was 3-0.  Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and he pitched well.  J.D. Davis had two hits and that was all the offense produced.

Syndergaard pitched seven innings giving up five hits and two runs with a walk and three strikeouts.  He lost his fourth game of the season and Seth Lugo pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts.

Sandy Alcantara pitched a complete game.  He gave up two hits and no runs with a walk and eight strikeouts and earned his second win of the season.

Davis had two hits, Pete Alonso drew a walk and that was it for the Mets offense.  They were 0-1 with runners in scoring position and left one man on base.

Curtis Granderson had a hit and an RBI, Neil Walker had two hits and Miguel Rojas had an RBI and drew a walk.  Chad Wallach had a hit, Rosell Herrera had a hit and Alcantara had a hit.  Herrera and Walker each hit a double and Granderson hit a homerun.  The Marlins were 1-3 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Alcantara committed an error.

In the sixth Granderson hit into a double play but a run scored to give the Marlins a 1-0 lead.  In the seventh Rojas hit a sac fly to push the Marlins lead to 2-0 and in the eighth Granderson hit a solo homerun to make it 3-0 and that would be the final score.

The Mets were swept in the three game series and will now head home to take on the Washington Nationals on Monday night in the start of a four-game series.
