The New York Yankees lost to the
Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday afternoon.
The game took place at Lecom Park in Bradenton, Florida and the final
score was 3-2. Jameson Taillon started
for the Yankees and he pitched well. Jay
Bruce and Clint Frazier each hit a homerun for the Yankees.
Taillon pitched two innings giving
up two hits and no runs with a walk and four strikeouts. Jhoulys Chacin pitched an inning giving up
three hits and two runs. He also struck
out a batter and took the loss. Trevor
Lane pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a walk with a strikeout,
Glenn Otto pitched to one batter and got him out and Luis Cessa pitched an inning
giving up two hits and a run with two strikeouts. Adam Warren pitched a perfect inning.
Bruce had a hit and an RBI, Frazier
had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Derek Dietrich drew a walk. Thairo Estrada had two hits, Bruce and
Frazier each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 0-1 with runners in scoring
position and left three men on base.
Estrada was caught stealing.
In the first Bruce hit a solo
homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.
In the third Gregory Polanco hit a two-run single to give the Pirates a
2-1 lead. In the fifth Polanco hit a solo
homerun to extend the Pirates lead to 3-1.
In the sixth Frazier hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 3-2 and that
would be the final score. The Yankees
will return to Tampa and take on the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday
afternoon.
