New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday. The game took place at Dunedin, Florida
and the final score was 5-1. The Yankees had a furious ninth inning rally to win the game. Deivi Garcia
started the game for the Yankees and he pitched well. There was no real offensive star for the Yankees.
Garcia pitched three innings giving up one hit and one unearned run. He walked two and struck out two.
Lucas Luetge pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout, Asher Wojciechowski pitched two innnings
giving up a walk and Nick Nelson pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out two. Nick
Goody picked up the win, his first of the spring pitching 2/3 of an inning and walking two and striking out
one. Glenn Otto pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two.
Mike Tauchman had a hit, Estevan Florial had a hit and Luke Voit drew a walk. Anthony Seigler had a
hit, Chris Gittens drew a walk and Clint Frazier had a hit. Thomas Milone had an RBI and drew a walk,
Hoy Jun Park had an RBI and drew a walk and Max McDowell had a hit and three RBI. Tyler Wade
had a hit, Armando Alvarez drew a walk and Wade and McDowell each hit a double. The Yankees were
2-7 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. Wade and Florial each had a stolen
base and Greg Allen committed an error.
In the second Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hit an RBI double to give the Blue Jays a 1-0 lead. In the ninth Milone
drew an RBI walk, Park drew an RBI walk and McDowell hit a three-run double to give the Yankees a
5-1 lead and that would be the final score.
The Yankees have won five straight spring games and will take on the Philadelphia Phillies from
George M. Steinbrenner Field on Monday afternoon.
