New York Mets shutout the Philadelphia Phillies to get a doubleheader sweep

 

The New York Mets defeated the Philadelphia Phillies in Game two of their doubleheader on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 4-0.  Marcus Stroman started for the Mets and he pitched great.  Brandon Nimmo had three hits and three RBI to lead the offense. 

Stroman pitched six innings giving up four hits and no runs.  He walked none and struck out three and earned his second win of the season.  Jeurys Familia pitched an inning giving up two hits. 

Aaron Nola started for the Phillies and pitched five innings giving up seven hits and three runs.  He walked one and struck out seven.  Nola took his first loss of the season, Spencer Howard pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run.  He walked one and struck out one. 

Nimmo had three hits and three RBI, Francisco Lindor had a hit and drew a walk and Pete Alonso had a hit.  Jeff McNeil had a hit, Kevin Pillar had a hit and Jonathan Villar had a hit and an RBI.  Tomas Nido had a hit, Stroman drew a walk and Lindor, Villar and Alonso each hit a double.  Nido hit a triple, the Mets were 3-12 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. 

Matt Joyce had a hit, J.T. Realmuto had a hit and Alec Bohm had a hit.  Didi Gregorius had a hit, Jean Segura had a hit and Brad Miller had a hit.  The Phillies were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

In the fourth Villar hit an RBI double and Nimmo hit a two-run single to give the Mets a 3-0 lead.  In the sixth Nimmo hit an RBI single to make it 4-0 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game three of four on Wednesday night.
