The New York Yankees defeated the Chicago White Sox on Friday night. The game took place at
Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 2-1. Jordan Montgomery started for the
Yankees and he pitched great. Aaron Judge, Gleyber Torres and Miguel Andujar each had two hits to
lead the offense.
Montgomery pitched seven innings giving up four hits and no runs with no walks and 11 strikeouts.
Jonathan Loaisiga pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and Aroldis Chapman picked
up his third victory of the season pitching an inning and giving up a walk.
Carlos Rodon started for the White Sox and he pitched six innings giving up two hits and no runs with
no walks and 13 strikeouts. Michael Kopech pitched an inning giving up three hits and a run with two
strikeouts and Evan Marshall pitched an inning giving up three hits and a run and he took his second
loss of the season.
Judge had two hits, Gio Urshela had a hit and Torres had two hits and two RBI. Andujar had two hits,
Gardner had a hit and Torres hit a homerun. The Yankees were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and
left six men on base. Wade had a stolen base, Andujar and Chapman each committed an error and Judge
had an outfield assist.
Nick Madrigal had a hit and an RBI, Yoan Moncada had two hits and Yermin Mercedes had two hits and
drew a walk. Adam Eaton drew a walk, Moncada hit a double and the White Sox were 1-5 with
runners in scoring position and left six men on base. Madrigal committed two errors.
In the seventh Torres hit a solo homerun giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead. In the eighth Madrigal hit an
RBI single to tie the game at one. In the bottom of the ninth Torres hit an RBI walk-off single to give
the Yankees the 2-1 victory.
The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday.
