The New York Yankees defeated the
Chicago White Sox on Tuesday night. The
game took place at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago, Illinois and the final
score was 7-1. Clarke Schmidt started
for the Yankees and he pitched well and the bullpen was great, mainly Michael
King. The offense broke out of their
slump with Harrison Bader leading the way with three hits.
Schmidt pitched 5 1/3 innings
giving up four hits and a run with a walk and seven strikeouts. Schmidt won his eighth game of the
season. King pitched 2 2/3 innings
giving up two hits and he struck out five and Jonathan Loaisiga made his first
appearance since April and he pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.
Touki Toussaint started for the
White Sox and he pitched five innings giving up six hits and four runs with
five walks and nine strikeouts. Toussaint
lost his fifth game of the season.
Declan Cronin pitched two innings giving up two hits and a walk with
five strikeouts and Tanner Banks pitched two innings giving up five hits and
three runs with three strikeouts.
Jake Bauers had a hit, an RBI and
drew a walk, Aaron Judge had a hit, an RBI and drew three walks and Gleyber
Torres had a hit. Giancarlo Stanton had
a hit, Billy McKinney had two hits and Isiah Kiner-Falefa had two hits and two
RBI. Bader had three hits and an RBI,
Anthony Volpe had a hit and drew a walk and Ben Rortvedt drew a walk. Kyle Higashioka had a hit and two RBI. Kiner Falefa hit a double and Higashioka and
Judge each hit a homerun. The Yankees
were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base. Bader had a stolen base and Bauers and Volpe were
each caught stealing.
Andrew Benintendi had a hit, Luis
Robert Jr. had a hit and an RBI and Eloy Jimenez had two hits. Yoan Moncada had a hit and drew a walk, Zach
Remillard had a hit and Benintendi hit a double. Robert Jr. hit a homerun and the White Sox
were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. Toussaint had a pickoff.
In the top of the fourth
Kiner-Falefa hit a two-run double giving the Yankees a 2-0 lead. Bader hit an RBI single pushing the lead to
3-0 and Bauers hit a sac fly making it 4-0.
In the bottom of the fourth Robert Jr. hit a solo homerun cutting the
lead to 4-1. In the eighth Higashioka
hit a two-run pinch hit homerun making it 6-1 and Judge hit a solo homerun
extending the lead to 7-1 which would be the final score.
The two teams will play the rubber
game of the series on Wednesday night.
