The New York Rangers comeback and defeat the New York Islanders in OT

The New York Rangers defeated the New York Islanders by the score of 2-1 in overtime. The game took place at Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, New York. The Islanders took the 1-0 lead in the first period and held it for most of the game. The Rangers were able to tie the game late in the third period on a Rick Nash deflection. The game went into overtime and the Rangers quickly scored on a power play. They have been much better on the power play and that has really helped them. Henrik Lundqvist was good in goal once again. 
The Islanders got on the board first at the 11:51 mark of the first period. Michael Grabner scored the goal and was assisted by McDonald and MacDonald. There were no goals in the second period and Nash scored at the 14:37 mark of the third period with assists from Derek Stepan and Carl Hagelin. The game winning goal came at the 42 second mark of the overtime from Gaborik with Nash and Stepan assisting on the goal.

The Rangers had the shot advantage 37-29. Nabakov the Islanders goalie was outstanding and really kept them in the game. The Rangers had a good first period and a dominating third period but they had a lot of trouble scoring on Nabakov. The Rangers had three power plays in the game and the Islanders had none. There was one fight which was more of a scrum and resulted in offsetting unsportsmanlike penalties.

The Rangers have won a season high four games in a row. The Rangers continue to be one point behind the NJ Devils for 7^th place in the Eastern Conference. They are in eighth place and will take on the Ottawa Senators on Friday night from Madison Square Garden. Nash since coming back from injury has been great. He has eight points in his last four games which have all been wins. He has eight goals which are tied for them team lead and he has five goals in the four games since returning from injury.

The New York Rangers defeat the New York Islanders 4-1

The New York Rangers defeated the New York Islanders 4-1 on Thursday night at Madison Square Garden. The Rangers played a strong game getting two goals from rookie J.T. Miller, they were his first two NHL goals. Marion Gaborik and Ryan McDonagh scored the other goals, one was an empty net. The Rangers played good defense and Henrik Lundqvist played one of his better games. 
The first goal by Miller was at the 1:29 mark of the first period. It was only the third time this season in ten games that the Rangers had a lead. He was assisted by Chris Kreider and Marc Staal. Gaborik scored to make it 2-0 at the 14:04 mark of the first period. Staal and Brad Richards assisted on the Gaborik goal.

The Islanders cut the lead to 2-1 at the 11:13 mark of the second period on a John Tavares goal. Moulson and Finley assisted on the goal. The Rangers made it 3-1 at the 18:11 mark of the second period on Millers second goal. McDonagh assisted. McDonagh scored the final goal on an empty net goal. It was at the 17:52 mark of the third period.

The Rangers scored a power play goal and were 5-5 on the penalty kill. They still are taking too many penalties and one more too many men on the ice. It was their fifth such penalty of the season which is unacceptable. If the special teams get better like they were tonight they will get better as a team. The Rangers having more balance on offense also helps. Miller may be here for a while and he may only be here for a short time. We will have to see what they do with him. Lundqvist was 19-20 in saves and Nabokov was 18-20 for the Islanders.

The Rangers moved ahead of the Islanders into eighth place in the conference with 10 points. The Islanders after starting hot have struggled lately. The Rangers are back to 500 and will look to build on that in their next game on Sunday night. They play the Tampa Bay Lightning and then they play the Boston Bruins on Tuesday night in Boston.

NBA and NHL

I am looking for someone who has knowledge about the NHL and NBA. I also would like someone that is really into it, of course preferably the local teams. The local teams for me are the Nets, Knicks, Rangers,Devils and I guess you could throw in the Islanders. If you are interested in talking about these teams or have knowledge in general about the NBA and NHL I would like to hear from you.
