The New York Yankees lose a tight one to the Baltimore Orioles



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 2-1 Orioles.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and pitched great.  Alex Rodriguez had two hits including a homerun which was their only offense. 

Tanaka pitched eight innings giving up six hits and a run with a walk and ten strikeouts.  Chasen Shreve pitched an inning giving up three hits and a run with a strikeout and he lost his second game of the season. 

Kevin Gausman pitched five innings giving up six hits and a run with a walk and five strikeouts.  T.J. McFarland pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up a walk and he struck out one, Darren O'Day pitched to two batters and retired them both and picked up his sixth win of the season, Zach Britton saved his 31st game of the season and pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit, Carlos Beltran had a hit and Brian McCann had a hit and drew a walk.  Rodriguez had two hits and an RBI, Chris Young drew a walk and Brendan Ryan had a hit.  Rodriguez hti a homerun and the Yankees were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

Gerardo Parra had a hit, Manny Machado had a hit and Chris Davis had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Jimmy Paredes had two hits, Jonathan Schoop had a hit and Matt Wieters had two hits.  Ryan Flaherty had a hit and an RBI.  Wieters hit a double and Flaherty and Davis each hit a homerun.  The Orioles were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Paredes was caught stealing and Wieters committed an error. 

In the sixth Flaherty hit a homerun to give the Orioles a 1-0 lead.  In the sixth Rodriguez hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the ninth Davis hit a solo homerun to give the Orioles a 2-1 lead and that would be the final score.  The two teams have split the first two games of the series and will play the rubber game of the series on Wednesday night.

The New York Mets get a big win against the Washington Nationals



The New York Mets defeated the Washington Nationals on Monday afternoon.  The game took place at Nationals Park in Washington D.C. and the final score was 8-5.  Jon Niese started for the Mets and he pitched poorly.  The Mets bullpen was very good and Yoenis Cespedes had three hits to lead the offense. 

Niese pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and five runs with three walks and a strikeout.  Carlos Torres pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a walk with a strikeout, Erik Goeddel pitched a perfect inning and Dario Alvarez earned his first win of the season pitching to one batter and striking him out.  Hansel Robles pitched two innings striking out four and Jeurys Familia pitched an inning giving up a hit and struck out three. 

Max Scherzer pitched six innings giving up seven hits and five runs with six strikeouts.  Blake Treinen pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run and he lost his third game of the season, Felipe Rivero pitched giving up a run and a walk without recording an out and Casey Janssen pitched giving up a hit and a run.  Matt Thornton pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and Rafael Martin pitched two innings giving up a hit and a walk with four strikeouts. 

Curtis Granderson had two hits, an RBI and drew two walks, DAvid Wright had a hit and an RBI and Daniel Murphy had an RBI.  Cespedes had three hits and two RBI, Michael Conforto had a hit and an RBI and Travis d'Arnaud had an RBI.  Kelly Johnson had a hit and an RBI, Wilmer Flores had two hits and Ruben Tejada had a hit.  Granderson hit two doubles, Tejada hit a double and Cespedes hit two doubles.  Conforto, Johnson and Cespedes each hit a homerun and the Mets were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

In the second Conforto hit a solo homerun giving the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the second Johnson hit a solo homerun and it was 2-0 Mets.  In the fourth Cespedes hit a solo homerun and the Mets had a 3-0 lead.  In the fourth Ramos hit a grand slam and the Nationals took a 4-3 lead.  Werth hit an RBI double and it was 5-3 Nationals.  In the fifth Granderson hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 5-4 Nationals.  In the sixth d'Arnaud hit a sac fly to tie the game at five.  In the seventh Wright hit an RBI single and the Mets had a 6-5 lead.  Murphy hit a sac fly and it was 7-5 Mets.  Cespedes hit an RBI double and it was 8-5 Mets in the seventh which would be the final score.  The two teams will play game two of three on Tuesday night.

The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Monday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 8-5.  Michael Pineda started and he had one bad inning early and then settled down.  Alex Rodriguez, John Ryan Murphy and Greg Bird each hit a homerun. 

Pineda pitched six innings giving up six hits and four runs.  He walked two and struck out five.  Justin Wilson pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout and he picked up the victory.  Dellin Betances pitched an inning walking three and striking out three and Andrew Miller pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and two strikeouts.  Miller picked up his 32nd save of the season. 

Wei-Yin Chen pitched five innings giving up nine hits and five runs with four of them being earned.  He walked one and struck out five.  Jorge Rondon lost his first game of the season pitching an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a walk, Brian Matusz pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout and Zach Britton pitched an inning striking out two.

Manny Machado had two hits and two RBI, Gerardo Parra had a hit and Steve Pearce drew a walk.  Chris Davis had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks, Jimmy Paredes had a hit and drew a walk and Jonathan Schoop had a hit and three RBI.  Nolan Reimold had a hit and drew a walk, Ryan Flaherty had a hit and drew a walk and Parra hit a double.  Schoop and Machado each hit a homerun.  The Orioles were 3-8 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Flaherty committed an error. 
In the first Young hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the second Schoop hit a three run

homerun to give the Orioles a 3-1 lead.  Machado hit an RBI single and it was 4-1 Orioles.  In the third Young

hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 4-2.  In the fifth Rodriguez hit a solo homerun to cut the lead down to 4-3

and then Murphy hit a two run homerun to give the Yankees a 5-4 lead.  In the seventh Machado hit a solo

homerun to tie the game at five.  Bird hit a three run homerun in the bottom of the seventh to give the

Yankees an 8-5 lead.  In the ninth Davis hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 8-6 but that would be the final

score.  The two teams will play game two of three on Tuesday night.

The New York Mets lose rubber game to the Miami Marlins



The New York Mets were defeated by the Miami Marlins on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Marlins Park in Miami, Florida and the final score was 4-3 Marlins.  Steven Matz started for the Mets and he pitched pretty good.  Tyler Clippard didn't pitch so good out of the bullpen.  Yoenis Cespedes and Michael Conforto each had a couple of hits. 

Matz pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up four hits and two runs with two walks and six strikeouts.  Hansel Robles pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit, Addison Reed pitched an inning giving up two hits and struck out one and Clippard blew his fifth save of the season and lost his fourth game of the season.  He pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and two strikeouts. 

Jarred Cosart pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up five hits and a run with a walk and three strikeouts.  Chris Narveson pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and two runs with two strikeouts, Kyle Barraclough pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one and Mike Dunn pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a walk and he struck out two.  A.J. Ramos pitched an inning giving up a hit and he walked two and won his second game of the season. 

Granderson drew a walk, Cespedes had two hits and an RBI and Conforto had two hits.  Wilmer Flores had a hit and two RBI, Kelly Johnson drew a walk and Juan Uribe had a hit and drew a walk.  Ruben Tejada had a hit and drew two walks.  Kevin Plawecki had a hit, Conforto hit two doubles and uribe hit a double.  Cespedes and Flores each hit a homerun and the Mets were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Granderson was caught stealing. 

Dee Gordon had three hits and drew a walk, Christian Yelich had a hit and drew a walk and Martin Prado had a hit and an RBI.  Marcell Ozuna had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Justin Bour had a hit and an RBI and Jeff Mathis had a hit and an RBI.  Ozuna hit a double and Mathis and Bour each hit a homerun.  The Marlins were 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Gordon had a stolen base. 

In the first Cespedes hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Ozuna hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  In the fifth Mathis hit a solo homerun giving the Marlins a 2-1 lead.  In the sixth Flores hit a two run homerun to give the Mets a 3-2 lead.  In the eighth Bour hit a solo homerun to tie the game at three.  In the bottom of the ninth the Marlins walked off with a sac fly by Prado to give them a 4-3 victory.  The Mets lost two out of three in this series and will begin a three game series with the Washington Nationals in Washington on Monday afternoon. 

The New York Yankees have a big comeback win over the Tampa Bay Rays



The New York Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 6-4.  Ivan Nova started for the Yankees and pitched pretty good, the bullpen was ok.  Jacoby Ellsbury, Alex Rodriguez and Didi Gregorius each had two hits. 

Nova pitched six innings giving up six hits and three runs with a walk and three strikeouts.  Nova won his sixth game of the season.  Justin Wilson pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and striking out two, Dellin Betances pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with a walk and Andrew Miller saved his 31st game of the season.  Miller pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out two. 

Chris Archer pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up six hits and five runs with four of them being earned.  He walked three and struck out five and lost his 11th game of the season.  Enny Romero pitched to two batters and retired them both, Steve Geltz pitched giving up a hit and a run with two walks and he didn't record an out and C.J. Riefenhauser pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Ellsbury had two hits and drew a walk, Carlos Beltran drew a walk and Brian McCann had a hit, three RBI and drew a walk.  Rodriguez had two hits and an RBI, Greg Bird had a hit and drew a walk and Chase Headley drew a walk.  Gregorius had two hits and an RBI, Bird hit a double and McCann and Rodriguez each hit a homerun and they were back-to-back.  The Yankees were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Drew committed an error. 

John Jaso had a hit, Daniel Nava had a hit and drew a walk and Mikie Mahtook had a hit.  Evan Longoria had a hit and drew a walk, Grady Sizemore had a hit and Logan Forsythe had a hit and an RBI.  Asdrubal Cabrera had three hits and an RBI, Kevin Kiermaier had a hit and two RBI and Jaso hit a double.  Nava hit a double and Kiermaier and Cabrera each hit a homerun.  The Rays were 1-10 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Nava and Cabrera each had a stolen base and Forsythe committed an error. 

In the second Kiermaier hit a two run  homerun and the Rays had a 2-0 lead.  In the third Forsythe hit an RBI single and it was 3-0 Rays.  In the sixth McCann hit a three run homerun to tie the game at three and one batter later Rodriguez hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 4-3 lead.  In the seventh Gardner hit into a force out and gave the Yankees a 5-3 lead.  In the eighth Cabrera hit a solo homerun to cut the Yankees lead to 5-4.  Gregorius hit an RBI single in the eighth to push the lead to 6-4 and that was the final score.  The Yankees took two out of three in this series.  The Yankees will begin a three game series on Monday afternoon against the Baltimore Orioles.
