New York Yankees blow big lead and lose a tough game in extra innings to the Tampa Bay Rays

 

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida and the final score was 8-7 in ten innings.  Gerrit Cole started for the Yankees and he did not pitch well.  The bullpen did a good job and the offense was led by Harrison Bader who had three hits. 

Cole pitched five innings giving up eight hits and six runs with five being earned.  He walked two and struck out six.  Jimmy Cordero pitched an inning giving up a run and a walk with a strikeout, Clay Holmes pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and Wandy Peralta pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts.  Michael King pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out three, Albert Abreu pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and an unearned run and he took his first loss of the season. 

Javy Guerra started for the Rays and he pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout.  Josh Fleming pitched five innings giving up seven runs and six hits with four walks and a strikeout, Ryan Thompson pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and two strikeouts and Jason Adam pitched an inning giving up a hit.  Colin Poche pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one, Garrett Cleavinger pitched to two batters and retired them both and Jalen Beeks pitched to one batter striking him out and he earned his first win of the season. 

Anthony Volpe drew a walk, Gleyber Torres had two hits and an RBI and Anthony Rizzo had a hit, an RBI and drew three walks.  DJ LeMahieu had two hits, Bader had three hits and two RBI and Oswaldo Cabrera had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Jose Trevino had an RBI and drew a walk, Aaron Hicks had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Hicks, Torres and Cabrera each hit a double.  Bader hit a triple and Rizzo and Bader each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-15 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.  Cabrera had a stolen base and Torres committed an error. 

Yandy Diaz had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Wander Franco had a hit and Randy Arozarena had two hits.  Harold Ramirez had two hits, Isaac Paredes had two hits and two RBI and Manuel Margot drew a walk.  Christian Bethancourt had a hit and three RBI and Jose Siri had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Ramirez hit a double and Paredes hit a double.  Siri and Bethancourt each hit a homerun and the Rays were 3-9 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Franco had a stolen base. 

In the third Rizzo hit a solo homerun giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  Bader hit a two-run homerun and it was 3-0 Yankees.  In the top of the fourth Hicks hit an RBI double and Torres hit an RBI double to push the lead to 5-0.  In the top of the fifth Cabrera hit a sac fly extending the lead to 6-0.  In the bottom of the fifth Siri hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 6-1.  Franco hit an RBI single and it was 6-2.  In the bottom of the sixth Paredes hit an RBI double making it a 6-3 game and then Bethancourt hit a three-run homerun to tie the game at six.  Diaz hit an RBI groundout and the Rays had a 7-6 lead.  In the seventh Trevino hit an RBI groundout tying the game at seven.  In the bottom of the tenth Paredes hit a walk-off RBI single to give the Rays a 8-7 victory. 

The Rays took two out of three in the series and the Yankees will head home to face the Oakland Athletics for three beginning Monday night. 

New York Yankees defeat the Tampa Bay Rays

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday.  The game took place at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida and the final score was 3-2.  Domingo German started for the Yankees and he pitched well, the bullpen was very good and Harrison Bader and IKF led the team with two hits each. 

German pitched five innings giving up four hits and two runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  Wandy Peralta pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits, Ron Marinaccio pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out one and he won his first game of the season.  Clay Holmes pitched an inning giving up a hit and Ian Hamilton picked up his first save of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Drew Rasmussen started for the Rays and he pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up two hits and no runs with two walks and six strikeouts.  Ryan Thompson pitched to one batter and retired him, Jalen Beeks pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and two strikeouts and Kevin Kelly pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up four hits and two runs and he lost his first game of the season.  Javy Guerra pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one.

Yandy Diaz had a hit and drew a walk, Wander Franco had a hit and Randy Arozarena had a hit.  Manuel Margot had two hits and two RBI, Harold Ramirez had a hit and Tyler Walls drew a walk.  Luke Raley had two hits, Christian Bethancourt had a hit and Margot, Bethancourt and Raley each hit a double.  The Rays were 1-12 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Walls had a stolen base, Siri and Raley each had a stolen base and Franco was caught stealing.  Brandon Lowe and Franco each committed an error. 

In the bottom of the first Margot hit a two-run double giving the Rays a 2-0 lead.  In the eighth LeMahieu hit an RBI double cutting the lead to 2-1.  Bader hit a two-run single and the Yankees had the lead at 3-2 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play the rubber game of the series on Sunday afternoon.

New York Yankees double up the Cleveland Guardians to even series

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Cleveland Guardians on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 4-2.  Gerrit Cole started for the Yankees and he had to grind it out.  The bullpen pitched well and Anthony Volpe and Anthony Rizzo led the offense with two hits each. 

Cole pitched six innings giving up five hits and two runs with three walks and eight strikeouts.  Ron Marinaccio pitched 2/3 of an inning and walked one, Wandy Peralta won his second game of the season pitching 2/3 of an inning and giving up one hit and Michael King saved his second game of the season pitching 1 2/3 innings and giving up a walk and he struck out three. 

Tanner Bibee started for the Guardians and he pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up four hits and two runs with no walks and five strikeouts.  James Karinchak pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a  walk and a strikeout and he lost his fourth game of the season and Eli Morgan pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up three hits and a run. 

Volpe had two hits and an RBI, Gleyber Torres had a hit and Rizzo had two hits and an RBI.  DJ LeMahieu had a hit and an RBI, Harrison Bader had a hit and Willie Calhoun had a hit and an RBI.  Oswaldo Cabrera had a hit, Jose Trevino drew a walk and Torres hit a double and Volpe and Calhoun each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-5 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Volpe had two stolen bases and Rizzo was caught stealing.  Cole committed an error. 

Steven Kwan drew a walk, Amed Rosario had a hit and drew a walk and Jose Ramirez had two hits and drew a walk.  Josh Naylor had a hit and an RBI, Josh Bell had a hit and drew two walks and Andres Gimenez had an RBI.  Will Brennan had a hit, Naylor hit a double and the Guardians were 1-10 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Kwan had a stolen base and Bibee committed an error. 

In the third Naylor hit an RBI double and Gimenez hit an RBI groundout giving the Guardians a 2-0 lead.  In the bottom of the sixth Volpe hit a solo homerun and Rizzo hit an RBI single tying the game at two.  In the bottom of the seventh Calhoun hit a solo homerun giving the Yankees a 3-2 lead and in the bottom of the eighth LeMahieu hit an RBI single pushing the lead to 4-2 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play the rubber game on Wednesday night.

New York Yankees are demolished in Texas

 The New York Yankees were destroyed by the Texas Rangers on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place

At Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas and the final score was 15-2.  Nestor Cortes started for the 

Yankees and he didn’t pitch well, it was a rare occurrence.  The bullpen was equally as bad and the offense

Was carried by Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Aaron Hicks who each had two hits.  

Cortes pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up five hits and seven runs with four walks and seven strikeouts.  

Albert Abreu pitched an inning giving up two hits and six runs with four walks and a strikeout and Nick

Ramirez pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up four hits and two runs and two strikeouts.  

Martin Perez started for the Rangers and he pitched six innings giving up six hits and a run with a walk

And two strikeouts, Ian Kennedy pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Cole Ragans pitched 

An inning with two strikeouts.  Yerry Rodriguez pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with two 

Walks and a strikeout.  

Anthony Volpe had a hit, Oswald Peraza had a hit and an RBI and DJ LeMahieu drew a walk.  Gleyber 

Torres had a hit, Oswaldo Cabrera drew a walk and Kiner-Falefa had two hits.  Kyle Higashioka had a hit

An RBI and drew a walk, Hicks had two hits and Volpe hit a double.  They Yankees were 2-7 with runners 

In scoring position and left seven men on base.  Ramirez committed an error.  

Marcus Semien drew a walk, Robbie Grossman had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks and Nathaniel

Lowe had a hit, two RBI and drew two walks.  Adonis Garcia had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Josh 

Jung had two hits, five RBI and drew a walk and Jonah Heim had three hits and three RBI.  Sandy Leon 

Had a hit and an RBI, Duran had a hit and two RBI and Leody Taveras drew a walk.  Heim hit two 

Doubles, Jung and Leon also hit a Odubel.  Jung, Lowe, Garcia and Heim each hit a homerun.

The Rangers were 5-11 with runners in scoring position and left fie men on base.  Semien had a stolen

Base and Garcia had an outfield assist.  

In the bottom of the first Jung hit a grand slam giving the Rangers a 4-0 lead.  In the top of the third

Peraza hit an RBI ground out to cut the lead to 4-1.  In the bottom of the fifth Lowe hit a two-run homerun 

To push the lead to 6-1.  Garcia hit a solo homerun and it was 7-1 Rangers.  Heim hit a solo homerun to 

Extend the lead to 8-1.  In the bottom of the sixth Grossman hit an RBI single, Jung drew an RBI walk and

Heim hit an RBI double and the score was 12-1.  Duran hit a two-run single and it was 14-1.  In the 

Bottom of the eighth Leon hit an RBI double making it 15-1 and in the top of the ninth

Higashioka drew an RBI walk cutting the lead to 15-2 and that would be the final score.  The Yankees

Lost three out of four in the series and will limp home to fac the Guardians for three beginning Monday 

Night.

 The New York Yankees were defeated by the Texas Rangers on Saturday.  The game took place at Globe

Life Field in Arlington, Texas and the final score was 2-0.  Jhony Brito started for the Yankees and he 

Pitched well, the bullpen was great.  The offense only managed three hits.  

Brito pitched five innings giving up four hits and two runs with one walk and five strikeouts.  Brito lost

His third game of the season.  Ron Marinaccio pitched an inning giving up two walks and he struck out 

Two, Ian Hamilton pitched an inning giving up a hit and Wandy Peralta pitched a perfect inning.  

Nathan Eovaldi a former Yankee started for the Rangers and he pitched a complete game three hit shutout.

He walked none and struck out eight and earned his third win of the season.  

Anthony Rizzo, Willie Calhoun and Isiah Kiner-Falefa each had a hit.  The Yankees were 0-2 with runners

In scoring position and left two men on base.  

Travis Jankowski drew a walk, Nathaniel Lowe drew a walk and Jonah Heim drew a walk.  Robbie

Grossman had a hit, Ezequiel Duran had two hits and two RBI and Bubba Thompson had two hits.  

Thompson hit a double and Duran hit a homerun.  The Rangers were 0-5 with runners in scoring position

And left five men on base.  Jankowski had a stolen base and Thompson was caught stealing.  

In the fifth Duran hit a two-run homerun giving the Rangers a 2-0 lead and that was all that they would 

Need.  The two teams will play the fourth and final game of the series on Sunday afternoon.
