New York Mets blow lead and lose to the Los Angeles Dodgers


The New York Mets were defeated by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 7-4.  Seth Lugo started for the Mets and he pitched ok, the bullpen wasn’t very good.  Rene Rivera had two hits to lead the offense. 

Lugo pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up four hits and three runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  Paul Sewald lost his fourth game of the season pitching 1 1/3 innings and giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout, Jerry Blevins pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two and Fernando Salas pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and two runs. 

Rich Hill pitched five innings giving up six hits and three runs with a walk and eight strikeouts.  Brandon Morrow pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one and he won his fourth game of the season, Pedro Baez pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one and Tony Watson pitched an inning with two strikeouts.  Ross Stripling pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout. 

Michael Conforto had a hit and an RBI, Yoenis Cespedes had a hit and drew a walk and Wilmer Flores had a hit and an RBI.  Curtis Granderson had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks, Neil Walker had a hit and R. Rivera had two hits and an RBI.  Conforto, Flores, Granderson and R. Rivera each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Granderson had a stolen base and was caught stealing.  R. Rivera had a passed ball and Granderson had an outfield assist. 

Chris Taylor had a hit and an RBI, Corey Seager had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Justin Turner had two hits and an RBI.  Cody Bellinger had a hit and two RBI, Logan Forsythe drew two walks and Yasmani Grandal had a hit.  Yasiel Puig had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Kyle Farmer had a hit and Grandal hit a double and Taylor, Bellinger, Puig, Turner and Seager each hit a homerun.  The Dodgers were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Seager committed an error and Hill had a pickoff. 

In the first Conforto hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  Flores hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 2-0.  Granderson hit a solo homerun and the lead was extended to 3-0.  In the sixth Taylor hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 3-1.  Bellinger hit a two-run homerun and the game was tied at three.  In the seventh Puig hit a solo homerun to give the Dodgers a 4-3 lead.  In the eighth Turner hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 5-3.  In the ninth Seager hit a two-run homerun to extend the lead to 7-3.  In the bottom of the ninth R. Rivera hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 7-4 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play the third and final game of the series on Sunday afternoon.   

New York Mets are shutout by the Los Angeles Dodgers


The New York Mets were defeated by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 6-0.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he pitched ok.  Michael Conforto had two hits and the offense only managed four hits. 

deGrom pitched five innings and gave up five hits and three runs with three walks and eight strikeouts and lost his fifth game of the season.  Josh Smoker pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a walk, Chasen Bradford pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with a walk and three strikeouts and Erik Goeddel pitched a perfect inning. 

Yu Darvish pitched seven innings giving up three hits and no runs.  He walked one and struck out ten and won his seventh game of the season.  Josh Fields pitched an inning giving up a hit and Luis Avilan pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout. 

Conforto had two hits, Jay Bruce drew a walk and Yoenis Cespedes drew a walk.  Amed Rosario had a hit, deGrom had a hit and the Mets were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  deGrom had a stolen base and Rosario had a stolen base. 

Chris Taylor had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Corey Seager had three hits and drew a walk and Justin Turner had an RBI.  Joc Pederson drew two walks, Yasmani Grandal drew a walk and Chase Utley had a hit and two RBI.  Yasiel Puig had a hit and an RBI, Seager hit two doubles and Taylor, Puig and Utley each hit a homerun.  The Dodgers were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Pederson had a stolen base. 

In the first Taylor hit a solo homerun to give the Dodgers a 1-0 lead.  In the second Puig hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 2-0.  In the fifth Turner hit into a double play and a run scored to make it 3-0.  In the sixth Utley hit a two-run homerun to push the lead to 5-0.  In the seventh Turner hit a sac fly making it 6-0 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday afternoon.   

New York Yankees bullpen holds on to one in Cleveland


The New York Yankees defeated the Cleveland Indians on Saturday night.  The game took place at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio and the final score was 2-1.  Jordan Montgomery started for the Yankees and he pitched very well and the bullpen was also very good.  The offense didn’t do much but Chase Headley had a big homerun. 

Montgomery pitched five innings giving up three hits and a run with no walks and seven strikeouts.  David Robertson won his fifth game of the season pitching two innings and he gave up two hits with two strikeouts, Dellin Betances pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and Aroldis Chapman saved his 14th game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Danny Salazar pitched seven innings giving up four hits and a run with three walks and 12 strikeouts.  Zach McAllister pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout and he lost his first game of the season, Tyler Olson retired the only batter that he faced and Nick Goody pitched an inning with a walk and two strikeouts. 

Brett Gardner had a hit and drew two walks, Headley had a hit and an RBI and Aaron Judge had a hit.  Didi Gregorius had two hits and an RBI, Gary Sanchez drew a walk and Todd Frazier drew a walk.  Gregorius hit two doubles and Headley hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

Francisco Lindor had two hits, Michael Brantley had two hits and Carlos Santana had a hit and an RBI.  Giovanny Urshela had a hit, Lindor hit a double and Santana hit a homerun.  The Indians were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

In the first Gregorius hit an RBI double to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the second Santana hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the eighth Headley hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees the 2-1 lead and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play the rubber game on Sunday afternoon.  The Yankees will be looking for the four game split and the Indians to take three out of four.   

New York Yankees lose to the Cleveland Indians


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Cleveland Indians on Friday night.  The game took place at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio and the final score was 7-2.  Jaime Garcia started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch very well in his Yankees debut.  The Yankees had five batters with two hits. 

Garcia lost his eighth game of the season pitching 4 2/3 innings giving up five hits and six runs with five being earned.  He walked four and struck out four.  Chad Green pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out five and Tommy Khanle pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout. 

Trevor Bauer pitched seven innings giving up seven hits and a run.  He walked two and struck out seven and won his 10th game of the season.  Joe Smith pitched to two batters and struck them both out, Tyler Olson pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Bryan Shaw pitched an inning giving up three hits and a run. 

Brett Gardner had two hits and an RBI, Aaron Judge had a hit and drew two walks and Didi Gregorius had two hits.  Chase Headley had two hits, Todd Frazier had two hits and an RBI and Ronald Torreyes had two hits.  Headley hit a double and T. Frazier hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Judge committed an error and Sanchez had a passed ball. 

Francisco Lindor drew a walk, Brandon Guyer had a hit and drew a walk and Michael Brantley had two hits and an RBI.  Jose Ramirez had a hit, Edwin Encarnacion had a hit and two RBI and Carlos Santana drew a walk.  Austin Jackson had a hit and an RBI, Roberto Perez drew a walk and Giovanny Urshela had two hits.  The Indians were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Guyer had a stolen base. 

In the second Jackson hit an RBI double to give the Indians a 1-0 lead.  A passed ball pushed the lead to 2-0.  In the third Brantley hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 3-0 and Encarnacion hit a sac fly to make it 4-0.  In the fifth T. Frazier hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 4-1.  In the bottom of the fifth Brantley hit an RBI single to increase the lead to 5-1.  A wild pitch made it 6-1 and in the eighth Encarnacion hti an RBI double to push the lead to 7-1.  Gardner hit an RBI single in the ninth to cut the lead to 7-2 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game three of four on Saturday night.  The Indians have taken the first two of the series.

New York Mets lose on a walk-off again in Colorado


The New York Mets were defeated by the Colorado Rockies on Thursday afternoon.  The game took place at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado and the final score was 5-4.  Rafael Montero started for the Mets and was just ok.  The Mets bullpen pitched well for the most part and the offense was led by Asdrubal Cabrera who had three hits. 

Montero pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up ten hits and four runs with a walk and six strikeouts.   Josh Smoker pitched to two batters and retired them both, one by strikeout.  Erik Goeddel pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits, Jerry Blevins retired the only batter that he faced and Hansel Robles lost his third game of the season pitching 1 1/3 innings and giving up a run and three walks with a strikeout. 

German Marquez pitched six innings giving up six hits and three runs with three walks and five strikeouts.  Pat Neshek pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout, Adam Ottavino pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one and Mike Dunn pitched to one batter and retired him.  Greg Holland won his second game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Michael Conforto had ah it, Cabrera had three hits and an RBI and Yoenis Cespedes had a hit and an RBI.  Curtis Granderson had a hit and drew two walks, Jose Reyes drew a walk and Amed Rosario had a hit.  Rene Rivera had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Montero had a hit and an RBI and Cabrera hit a double and Rosario hit a triple.  Cespedes hit a homerun and the Mets were 3-10 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Reyes was caught stealing and Cespedes had an outfield assist. 

Charlie Blackmon had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk, D.J. LeMahieu had three hits, an RBI and drew two walks and Nolan Arenado had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Gerardo Parra had a hit and an RBI, Mark Reynolds had a hit and an RBI and Jonathan Lucroy had two hits.  Blackmon, LeMahieu and Arenado each hit a double and Blackmon and Reynolds each hit a homerun.  The Rockies were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. 

In the third LeMahieu hit an RBI single, Parra hit an RBI single and it was 2-0 Rockies.  In the fourth Cespedes hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the fifth Montero hit an RBI single to tie the game at two.  Blackmon hit a solo homerun in the fifth to give the Rockies a 3-2 lead.  In the sixth Rivera hit an RBI single to tie the game at three.  Reynolds hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the sixth to give the Rockies back the lead at 4-3.  In the seventh Cabrera hit an RBI double to tie the game at four and in the ninth Arenado drew an RBI walk to walk-off the game and give the Rockies a 5-4 victory. 

The Mets will return home to take on the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night.
