The New York Mets were defeated by the
Colorado Rockies on Thursday afternoon. The
game took place at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado and the final score was
5-4. Rafael Montero started for the Mets
and was just ok. The Mets bullpen
pitched well for the most part and the offense was led by Asdrubal Cabrera who
had three hits.
Montero pitched 5 2/3 innings
giving up ten hits and four runs with a walk and six strikeouts. Josh
Smoker pitched to two batters and retired them both, one by strikeout. Erik Goeddel pitched 1/3 of an inning giving
up two hits, Jerry Blevins retired the only batter that he faced and Hansel
Robles lost his third game of the season pitching 1 1/3 innings and giving up a
run and three walks with a strikeout.
German Marquez pitched six innings
giving up six hits and three runs with three walks and five strikeouts. Pat Neshek pitched an inning giving up two
hits and a run with a strikeout, Adam Ottavino pitched 2/3 of an inning giving
up a walk and he struck out one and Mike Dunn pitched to one batter and retired
him. Greg Holland won his second game of
the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and he struck out two.
Michael Conforto had ah it, Cabrera
had three hits and an RBI and Yoenis Cespedes had a hit and an RBI. Curtis Granderson had a hit and drew two walks,
Jose Reyes drew a walk and Amed Rosario had a hit. Rene Rivera had a hit, an RBI and drew a
walk, Montero had a hit and an RBI and Cabrera hit a double and Rosario hit a
triple. Cespedes hit a homerun and the
Mets were 3-10 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. Reyes was caught stealing and Cespedes had an
outfield assist.
Charlie Blackmon had three hits, an
RBI and drew a walk, D.J. LeMahieu had three hits, an RBI and drew two walks
and Nolan Arenado had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk. Gerardo Parra had a hit and an RBI, Mark
Reynolds had a hit and an RBI and Jonathan Lucroy had two hits. Blackmon, LeMahieu and Arenado each hit a
double and Blackmon and Reynolds each hit a homerun. The Rockies were 2-6 with runners in scoring
position and left nine men on base.
In the third LeMahieu hit an RBI
single, Parra hit an RBI single and it was 2-0 Rockies. In the fourth Cespedes hit a solo homerun to
cut the lead to 2-1. In the fifth
Montero hit an RBI single to tie the game at two. Blackmon hit a solo homerun in the fifth to
give the Rockies a 3-2 lead. In the
sixth Rivera hit an RBI single to tie the game at three. Reynolds hit a solo homerun in the bottom of
the sixth to give the Rockies back the lead at 4-3. In the seventh Cabrera hit an RBI double to
tie the game at four and in the ninth Arenado drew an RBI walk to walk-off the
game and give the Rockies a 5-4 victory.
The Mets will return home to take
on the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night.
