The New York Mets lose 3-2 to the Washington Nationals

The New York Mets lost to the Washington Nationals by the score of 3-2 this afternoon. Jon Niese made the start and pitched well. Lucas Duda, Daniel Murphy and Rob Johnson each had two hits. The bullpen pitched ok.
Niese pitched six innings and took the loss. He gave up five hits and two runs with a walk and six strikeouts. Frank Francisco pitched two innings giving up two hits and one run with a walk and Manny Acosta pitched an inning giving up a hit with a strikeout.

Murphy had two hits and an RBI, Duda had two hits and an RBI and Ruben Tejada had a hit. Johnson had two hits. Johnson had a double and Duda had a triple. The Mets were 1-7 and left four runners in scoring position. Tejada and Murphy each made an error and Scott Hairston had an outfield assist.

The Mets will take on the Houston Astros tomorrow evening at home in Port St. Lucie, Florida. The Mets are now 6-16 in the grapefruit league. The Mets will open their season at home against the Atlanta Braves a week from tomorrow.
