The New York Yankees sweep the two game series in Miami

The New York Yankees defeated the Miami Marlins by the score of 5-2. Hiroki Kuroda started and pitched well and Phil Hughes in relief pitched even better. Alex Rodriguez had a hit and three RBI, Robinson Cano had an RBI and drew two walks. 
Kuroda pitched three innings giving up three hits and one run with a walk and two strikeouts. Boone Logan pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout, Rafael Soriano got the win facing one batter and striking him out. Hughes pitched four innings giving up five hits and a walk with four strikeouts and Dave Robertson pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts.

Derek Jeter had a hit, Curtis Granderson had a hit and drew two walks and Andruw Jones drew a walk. Cano had an RBI and two walks, Rodriguez had a hit and three RBI and Mark Teixeira had a hit and drew a walk. Nick Swisher had a hit and an RBI, Russell Martin drew a walk and Brett Gardner drew two walks.

Jeter, Rodriguez and Granderson each had a double. The Yankees were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and they left seven men on base. Swisher made an error. The Yankees improved their spring record to 17-11 with three ties. The Yankees will finish their spring training schedule with two games against the New York Mets. They will play Tuesday afternoon in Port St. Lucie and then Wednesday afternoon at home in Tampa. They will open up the season Friday afternoon in Tampa against the Tampa Bay Rays.
