The New York Mets are shutout by the Miami Marlins


The Miami Marlins defeated the New York Mets by the score of 3-0 on Thursday afternoon. Matt Harvey made the start and pitched ok. The Mets offense didn’t do much to support him.

Harvey pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up three runs on five hits. He struck out eight batters and took his third loss of the season. Scott Atchison pitched 1/3 of an inning striking out a batter and Gonzalez Germen pitched two innings giving up a hit and striking out two.

Turner had two hits and drew a walk, David Wright had a hit and drew a walk and Marlon Byrd drew a walk. Ike Davis drew two walks, Juan Lagares had two hits and Omar Quintanilla had a hit and drew a walk. Turner hit a double, Lagares hit a triple and the Mets were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base. Quintanilla committed an error.

Tom Koehler won his third game of the season pitching six innings giving up five hits and no runs. He walked five and struck out five. A.J. Ramos pitched two innings giving up a walk and striking out two and Steve Cishek got his 23rd save of the season. Cishek pitched an inning giving up a hit and struck out two.

Christian Yelich had a hit, Logan Morrison had a hit and an RBI and Donovan Solano had a hit and two RBI. Koehler had a hit, Juan Pierre had a hit and Placido Polanco had a hit. The Marlins were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. Solano had a stolen base and Marisnick had an outfield assist.

Morrison hit an Rbi single and Solano hit a two run single in the sixth inning. That would be all the scoring in the game as the Marlins won 3-0.

The Mets record fell to 48-58 and the Marlins record improved to 42-65. The Mets will now begin a three game series with the Kansas City Royals at home on Friday night.
