The New York Yankees lose the rubber game in Toronto
The Toronto Blue Jays defeated the New York Yankees on Wednesday night. The final score was 7-2 and the game took place at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada. Hiroki Kuroda started and didn’t pitch well. The offense wasn’t great.
Kuroda gave up seven runs and nine hits in five innings. He walked one and struck out four and took his 10th loss of the season. Joba Chamberlain pitched two innings giving up a walk and striking out one, Shawn Kelley gave up a hit in 1/3 of an inning and Boone Logan pitched 2/3 of an inning.
Brett Gardner drew two walks, Derek Jeter had a hit and Curtis Granderson drew a walk. Alfonso Soriano drew a walk, Alex Rodriguez had a hit and an RBI and Mark Reynolds had three hits and an RBI. Jeter and Reynolds each hit a double and the Yankees were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. Stewart committed an error and had a passed ball.
Todd Redmond won his second game of the season pitching 5 2/3 innings and giving up three hits and two runs. He walked four and struck out seven. Aaron Loup pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and striking out two, Sergio Santos pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and Darren Oliver pitched an inning giving up a hit and striking out two.
Jose Reyes had an RBI, Goins had two hits and drew a walk and Edward Encarnacion had a hit and two RBI. Adam Lind drew a walk, Brett Lawrie had two hits and two RBI and J.P. Arencibia had two hits. Moises Sierra had two hits, Anthony Gose had a hit and Goins, Lawrie and Arencibia each hit a double. Encarnacion hit a homerun and the Jays were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. Gose was caught stealing and had an outfield assist.
Lawrie hit a two run double and two runs scored on a passed ball and a throwing error by Stewart. Toronto had a 4-0 lead, which grew to 7-0. Encarnacion hit a two run homerun in the second and in the third Reyes hit a sacrifice fly. The Yankees got on the board in the fourth. Rodriguez hit an RBI single and Reynolds hit an RBI double with Rodriguez getting thrown out at the plate. The score was 7-2 Toronto and that would be the final score.
The Yankees lost two out of three and their record fell to 70-63 and the Blue Jays record improved to 60-74. The Yankees will have off on Thursday and then host the Baltimore Orioles for a three game series beginning on Friday night.
