The New York Yankees lose 3-2 to the Washington Nationals as CC falters

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Washington Nationals on Tuesday afternoon.  The

game took place in Viera, Florida and the final score was 3-2.  CC Sabathia started for the Yankees

and didn't pitch that well.  The bullpen behind him was great and the Yankees tried to make a late

rally but fell just short.  Eduardo Nunez hit a triple and Dean Anna hit an RBI single.  Yangervis

Solarte who has been a standout in this camp had another hit.

Sabathia pitched three innings giving up four hits and three runs with two walks and three strikeouts.  He took the loss, he said afterward that he was all over the place but it was mechanical and he feels great.  Matt Daley pitched a scoreless inning with a walk and a strikeout, Jim Miller pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and David Herndon pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Cesar Cabral pitched a scoreless inning and walked a batter and Brian Gordon gave up a hit in an inning of work and struck out two batters.

Brett Gardner had an RBI, Nunez had a hit and Anna had a hit and an RBI.  Solarte had a hit and Zoilo Almonte had a hit.  Almonte hit a double and Nunez hit a triple, the Yankees were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left two men on base.  Almonte had an outfield assist.  The Yankees will play on Wednesday afternoon at home in Tampa against the Detroit Tigers.
