The New York Mets are swept in Miami by the Marlins

The New York Mets were defeated by the Miami Marlins on Wednesday afternoon.  The game took place at Miami Park in Miami, Florida and the final score was 1-0.  Zach Wheeler started and pitched well and the bullpen did pretty well.  The offense only managed a couple of hits.

Wheeler pitched six innings giving up two hits and no runs.  He walked five and struck out seven.  Jeurys Familia pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts, Carlos Torres lost his first game of the season pitching 1 1/3 innings and gave up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout and Kyle Farnsworth retired the only batter that he faced.

Tom Koehler pitched eight shutout innings giving up two hits.  He walked one and struck out five and Steve Cishek picked up his third win of the season pitching a perfect inning with a strikeout.

David Wright had a hit, Curtis Granderson drew a walk and Lucas Duda had a hit.  Wright hit a double and the Mets were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.

Christian Yelich drew a walk, Derek Dietrich had a hit and drew a walk and Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and drew a walk.  Casey McGehee had a hit and drew two walks, Marcel Ozuna had an RBI and Jeff Mathis drew a walk.  The Marlins were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.

The only run of the game came in the ninth inning.  Ozuna hit a walk-off sacrifice fly to give the Marlins the win and the sweep of the three game series.  The Mets leave Miami limping.  They are a game under 500 now and will head to Philadelphia before returning to New York and playing the four straight subway series games against the New York Yankees.
