The New York Mets lose second straight to the Miami Marlins



The New York Mets were defeated by the Miami Marlins on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Marlins Park in Miami, Florida and the final score was 3-0.  Bartolo Colon started for the Mets and pitched well.  Daniel Murphy had a couple hits to lead the offense. 

Colon pitched seven innings giving up seven hits and three runs.  He walked one and struck out five and lost his fifth game of the season.  Jose Valverde pitched an inning with a walk and struck out the side. 

Henderson Alvarez won his second game of the season pitching a complete game.  He gave up six hits and no runs with no walks and struck out seven. 

Juan Lagares had a hit, Murphy had two hits and David Wright had a hit.  Lucas Duda had a hit, Travis d'Arnaud had a hit and Lagares hit a double.  Murphy hit two doubles and the Mets were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Murphy committed an error and Granderson had an outfield assist. 

Derek Dietrich had a hit, Giancarlo Stanton had two hits, an RBI and drew two walks and Casey McGehee had two hits and two RBI.  Jarrod Saltalamacchia had a hit, Marcell Ozuna had  a hit and Stanton hit a double.  The Marlins were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Stanton had a stolen base. 

Stanton hit an RBI double in the first and McGehee hit an RBI single to give the Marlins a 2-0 lead.  In the fifth McGehee hit an RBI single to give the Marlins a 3-0 lead and that would be the final score.  The Mets will try to salvage the final game of the series on Wednesday afternoon.
