The New York Yankees drop their second straight in Oakland

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Oakland Athletics on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at the Oakland County Coliseum in Oakland, California and the final score was  10-5.  Vidal Nuno started for the Yankees and was terrible.  Jose Ramirez wasn't that good either but the rest of the bullpen was ok.  Brett Gardner and Carlos Beltran each homered.

Nuno pitched three innings giving up eight hits and eight runs.  He walked one and struck out two and lost his third game of the season.  Ramirez pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs with a walk, Shawn Kelley pitched an inning striking out one and Adam Warren pitched two innings giving up a hit and a walk with four strikeouts.  Matt Thornton pitched an inning with a strikeout.

Jesse Chavez won his sixth game of the season pitching six innings and giving up five hits and a run.  He walked none and struck out four.  Ryan Cook pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with two walks and a strikeout, Fernando Abad pitched an inning with a walk and Jim Johnson pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs with two walks and a strikeout.  Luke Gregorson struck out the only batter that he faced.

Gardner had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Derek Jeter had a hit and an RBI and Brendan Ryan drew a walk.  Alfonso Soriano had a hit, Mark Teixeira had a hit and an RBI and Brian McCann drew a walk.  Beltran had two hits and an RBI, Ichiro Suzuki had two hits and Yangervis Solarte drew a walk.  Kelly Johnson had a hit and drew a walk, Jeter and Teixeira each hit a double and Beltran and Gardner each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Ryan committed an error and Murphy had a passed ball.

Coco Crisp had two hits, three RBI and drew a walk, Craig Gentry had a hit and an RBI and Yoenis Cespedes had two hits and two RBI.  Derek Norris had three hits and three RBI, Josh Donaldson had a hit and an RBI after going 0-33 and Brandon Moss drew a walk. Kyle Blanks had two hits and Nick Punto had a hit and drew a walk.

Norris hit a three run homerun in the first inning and Crisp hit a three run homerun in the second inning to give Oakland a 6-0 lead.  In the fourth Gentry was hit by a pitch to drive in a run and Cespedes hit a two run single to make it 9-0.  The A's would score one more run to make it 10-0 on a Donaldson RBI single.  The Yankees would score the last five runs of the game, Teixeira hit an RBI double in the sixth and Beltran hit a solo homerun in the seventh.  Jeter hit a sacrifice fly in the seventh and Gardner hit a two run homerun in the ninth.  The final score was 10-5 and Oakland took two out of the three in the series.  The Yankees will have the day off on Monday before beginning a three game home series with the Toronto Blue Jays.
