The New York Mets win streak hits seven in victory over the Miami Marlins



The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins on Saturday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-4.  Jacob deGrom pitched very well and Travis d'Arnaud and Wilmer Flores each hit a homerun. 

deGrom pitched seven innings giving up six hits and no runs with no walks and eight strikeouts.  He also won his second game of the season. Sean Gilmartin pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout, Buddy Carlyle pitched to two batters retiring them both, one on a strikeout and Carlos Torres pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up four hits and three runs with two strikeouts.  Alex Torres picked up his first save of the season pitching to one batter and striking him out. 

Mat Latos lost his third game of the season pitching five innings and giving up six hits and two runs with a walk and five strikeouts.  Jose Urena pitched two innings giving up three hits and three runs and Brad Hand pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

d'Arnaud had a hit and an RBI, Lucas Duda had a hit and Michael Cuddyer had two hits.  Eric Campbell had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Juan Lagares had two hits and an RBI and Flores had two hits and two RBI.  Duda and Cuddyer each hit a double and d'Arnaud and Flores each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 3-7 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Campbell had a stolen base. 

Dee Gordon had five hits and three RBI, Christian Yelich had a hit and Michael Morse had a hit and an RBI.  Marcell Ozuna had two hits, Adeiny Hechavarria had two hits and Baker drew a walk.  Gordon hit a double and Morse hit a homerun.  The Marlins were 2-10 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Gordon was caught stealing. 

Lagares hit an RBI single in the second and in the third d'Arnaud hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.  In the sixth Campbell hit an RBI single and Flores hit a two run homerun to push the Mets lead to 5-0.  Gordon hit an RBI double in the eighth, Morse hit a solo homerun in the ninth and Gordon hit a two run single to make it a 5-4 game but that would be how it finished. 

The Mets will look to take the four game sweep on Sunday afternoon.
