The New York Mets defeated the Baltimore
Orioles on Wednesday night.  The game
took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was
5-1.  Jacob deGrom started and pitched
well and Dilson Herrera had three hits and three RBI to lead the offense.  
deGrom pitched seven innings giving
up six hits and a run with one walk and nine strikeouts.  deGrom won his third game of the season.  Carlos Torres pitched an inning giving up a
hit and striking out one, Alex Torres pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit
and Jeurys Familia pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and striking out
two.  
Ubaldo Jiminez pitched four innings
giving up six hits and three runs with two walks and a strikeout.  Jiminez lost his second game of the
season.  Brad Brach pitched two innings
giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and three strikeouts, Kevin Gausman
pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts and Jason Garcia pitched a
perfect inning with a strikeout.  
Curtis Granderson had a hit and two
RBI, Michael Cuddyer had a hit and drew a walk and Wilmer Flores drew a
walk.  Kevin Plawecki had a hit and drew
a walk, Herrera had three hits and three RBI and deGrom had a hit.  Granderson and Herrera each hit a homerun and
the Mets were 3-5 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  
Alejandro De Aza had a hit, Rey Navarro
had a hit and Delmon Young had a hit.  Jimmy
Paredes had a hit and an RBI, Adam Jones drew a walk and Chris Davis had a
hit.  Manny Machado had two hits, Caleb
Joseph had a hit and Travis Snider had a hit. 
The Orioles were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left ten men
on base.  Machado had two stolen
bases.  
In the second Herrera hit an RBI
single to give the Mets a 1-0 lead. 
Granderson hit a solo homerun in the third to increase the lead to 2-0
Mets.  In the fourth Granderson hit a sac
fly to make it a 3-0 game.  Paredes hit
an RBI single in the fifth to cut the lead to 3-1.  Herrera hit a two run homerun in the sixth to
make it 5-1 and that would be the final score. 
The Mets will have the day off on Thursday before beginning a three game
series in Philadelphia on Friday night.
