The New York Yankees lose second straight to the Tampa Bay Rays



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Tampa Bay Rays.  The game took place at Tropicana Dome in St. Petersburg, Florida and the final score was 3-2.  Adam Warren started and pitched pretty well especially after the first couple of innings.  Mark Teixeira and Brian McCann each had two hits and an RBI. 

Warren pitched seven innings giving up three runs on seven hits.  He walked one and struck out seven and lost his second game of the season.  Andrew Miller pitched a perfect inning striking out the side. 

Nathan Karns pitched five innings giving up seven hits and two runs with two walks and six strikeouts and won his third game of the season.  Xavier Cedeno pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and striking out one, Brandon Gomes pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and striking out two and Kevin Jepsen pitched an inning giving up a hit and striking out one.  Brad Boxberger saved his 10th game of the season pitching an inning and striking out two.  Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit and drew a walk, Brett Gardner drew a walk and Alex Rodriguez had a hit.  Teixeira had two hits and an RBI, McCann had two hits and an RBI and Carlos Beltran had a hit.  Jose Pirela had a hit, Chase Headley had a hit and Didi Gregorius had a hit.  The Yankees were 3-9 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Gregorius had a stolen base. 

Stephen Souza Jr. had a hit and an RBI, Evan Longoria had a hit and James Loney had a hit.  Logan Forsythe had a hit, Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Joey Butler had two hits and an RBI.  Forsythe and Cabrera each had a double and Souza Jr. hit a homerun.  The Rays were 2-5 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Cabrera was caught stealing and Forsythe committed an error.  Kiermaier had an outfield assist. 

In the first Teixeira had an RBI single and McCann hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  Souza Jr. hit a solo homerun in the first to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the bottom of the second Cabrera hit an RBI double to tie the game at two.  Butler hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 3-2 and that would be the final score.  The Rays have taken two out of three and the rubber game will be tomorrow night.
