The New York Mets get shutout by the Toronto Blue Jays



The New York Mets were defeated by the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and the final score was 8-0.  Jon Niese started and pitched ok and Akeel Morris in his Mets debut wasn't very good.  There wasn't a Mets player who had more than a hit. 

Niese lost his seventh game of the season pitching seven innings and giving up seven hits and three runs.  He walked four and struck out six.  Morris pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up three hits and five runs with three walks.   Jack Leathersich pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a walk and striking out one. 

Drew Hutchison pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up four hits and no runs.  He walked one and struck out five and won his sixth game of the season.  Steve Delabar pitched 1 1/3 innings striking out two, Liam Hendriks pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and striking out one and Aaron Loup pitched to one batter and retired him.  Ryan Tepera pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Curtis Granderson had a hit, Juan Lagares had a hit and drew a walk and Michael Cuddyer had a hit.  Kevin Plawecki had a hit, Ruben Tejada had a hit and Dilson Herrera had a hit.  Granderson, Tejada and Cuddyer each hit a double adn the Mets were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Herrera had a stolen base and Granderson had an outfield assist. 

Jose Reyes drew a walk, Josh Donaldson had a hit and drew a walk adn Jose Bautista drew two walks.  Chris Colabello had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Ezequiel Carrera had a hit and an RBI and Russell Martin had a hit and an RBI.  Danny Valencia had a hit, three RBI and drew a walk.  Kevin Pillar had three hits and two RBI, Anthony Goins had two hits and drew two walks, Donaldson hit a double and Pillar and Valencia each hit a homerun.  The Blue Jays were 5-12 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Valencia was caught stealing. 

In the second Pillar hit an RBI single to give the Blue Jays a 1-0 lead.  In the sixth Colabello hit an RBI single to make it 2-0  Toronto.  In the seventh Pillar hit a solo homerun to extend the Blue Jays lead to 3-0.  Carrera hit an RBI single in the eighth to push the lead to 4-0.  Martin hit an RBI single and Valencia hit a three run homerun and the game was out of reach at 8-0 Blue Jays.  The final score was 8-0 and the two teams will play their last of the four in a row on Thursday night.
