The New York Mets
defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday.
The game took place at Dodgers Stadium in Los Angeles, California and
the final score was 8-0 Mets. Steven
Matz started for the Mets and pitched great.
Daniel Murphy had three hits and Wilmer Flores had four hits to lead the
offense.
Matz pitched six
shutout innings giving up two hits and he walked two batters and struck out
eight. Matz won his second game of the
season. Logan Verrett pitched three
innings giving up a hit and he struck out three.
Mike Bolsinger
pitched five innings giving up nine hits and four runs with two walks and four
strikeouts. He lost his third game of
the season. J.P. Howell pitched an
inning and struck out two batters, Juan Nicasio pitched an inning giving up
three hits and three runs with a walk and three strikeouts and Daniel Coulombe
pitched two innings giving up three hits and a run with a walk.
Granderson had
two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Murphy had three hits and drew a walk and
Flores had four hits and three RBI.
Johnny Monell had a hit and drew two walks, Ruben Tejada had three hits
and an RBI and Matz had an RBI. Juan
Lagares had two hits and two RBI, Granderson hit a double and Flores hit two
doubles. Lagares hit a triple and the
Mets were 8-22 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.
Enrique Hernandez
had a hit, Justin Turner had a hit and Scott Van Slyke drew two walks. A.J. Ellis had a hit and the Dodgers were 0-5
with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. Van Slyke had a stolen base and Hernandez
committed an error.
In the first
Flores hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 1-0 lead. In the fourth Matz hit an RBI groundout to
extend the lead to 2-0. Granderson hit
an RBI double and Flores hit an RBI single to make it 4-0. In the seventh Tejada hit an RBI single to
increase the Mets lead to 5-0. Lagares
hit a two run triple and it was 7-0. In
the eighth Flores hit an RBI double to make it 8-0 and that was the final
score. The Mets won two out of three in
the series and will begin a three game series in San Francisco on Monday
night.
