The New York Mets
defeated the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday afternoon. The game took place at AT+T Park in San
Francisco, California. Jacob deGrom
started for the Mets and pitched great and Eric Campbell had two hits and two
RBI to lead the offense.
deGrom pitched
eight innings giving up two hits and no runs.
He walked one and struck out ten and won his ninth game of the
season. Bobby Parnell pitched 1/3 of an
inning giving up two hits and a run and Jeurys Familia saved his 24th game of
the season pitching 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit.
Jake Peavy lost
his fourth game of the season pitching seven innings giving up six hits and two
runs with one of them being earned. He
walked one and struck out five. Josh
Osich pitched a perfect inning and Jean Machi pitched an inning giving up two
hits and two runs.
Ruben Tejada had
a hit, Daniel Murphy had a hit and Wilmer Flores had a hit. Lucas Duda drew a walk, Kevin Plawecki had a
hit and Campbell had two hits and two RBI.
deGrom had a hit, Juan Lagares had a hit and an RBI and Campbell hit a
homerun. The Mets were 0-4 with runners
in scoring position and left six men on base.
Murphy committed an error and Campbell also had an outfield assist.
Gregor Blanco
drew a walk, Joe Panik had a hit and Hunter Pence had two hits and an RBI. Brandon Belt had two hits, Pence hit a double
and the Giants were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left six men on
base. Crawford committed an error.
In the sixth
Murphy hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 1-0 lead. In the seventh Lagares hit an RBI force out
to make it 2-0. In the ninth Campbell
hit a two run homerun to increase the lead to 4-0. Pence hit an RBI single in the bottom of the
ninth to make it 4-1 and that would be the final score.
The Mets will
have the day off on Thursday and begin a three game series at home against the
Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday night.
