The New York
Mets defeated the Washington Nationals on Friday night. The game took place at Citi Field in
Flushing, New York and the final score was 2-1.
Matt Harvey started for the Mets and pitched great and Ruben Tejada and
Wilmer Flores each had two hits.
Harvey pitched 7
2/3 innings giving up five hits and a run with no walks and nine
strikeouts. Tyler Clippard pitched 2/3
of an inning with two walks and a strikeout, Jeurys Familia pitched 1 2/3
perfect innings with a strikeout and Hansel Robles pitched a perfect inning
with a couple of strikeouts. Carlos
Torres won his fourth game of the season pitching an inning striking out the
side.
Gio Gonzalez
pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up four hits and a run with four walks and six
strikeouts. Tanner Roark pitched 2 1/3
innings giving up no runs and no hits and he struck out four, Aaron Barrett
pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out two and Felipe Rivero
lost his first game of the season pitching two innings giving up a hit and a
run with a strikeout.
Curtis
Granderson had a hit, Tejada had two hits and Daniel Murphy had a hit. Juan Uribe drew two walks, Travis d'Arnaud
drew a walk and Flores had two hits and two RBI. Juan Lagares drew a walk, Murphy hit a double
and Flores hit a homerun. The Mets were
1-4 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. Granderson was caught stealing.
Anthony Rendon
had two hits, Yunel Escobar had a hit and an RBI and Jayson Werth had a
hit. Ryan Zimmerman drew a walk, Ian
Desmond drew a walk and Jose Lobaton had a hit.
Werth hit a double and the Nationals were 1-8 with runners in scoring
position and left seven men on base.
In the fourth
Flores hit an RBI single giving the Mets a 1-0 lead. In the eighth Escobar hit an RBI single to
tie the game at one. In the ninth Flores
hit a game winning walk-off solo homerun giving the Mets a 2-1 victory. The two teams will play game two of three on
Saturday night.
