The New York
Mets defeated the San Diego Padres on Tuesday night. The game took place at Citi Field in
Flushing, New York and the final score was 4-0.
Noah Syndergaard started and pitched great for the Mets and Curtis
Granderson led the offense with a couple of hits and RBI.
Syndergaard
pitched eight innings giving up three hits and no runs with no walks and nine
strikeouts. Syndergaard picked up his
fifth win of the season. Tyler Clippard
pitched an inning giving up a hit.
James Shields
lost his fourth game of the season pitching seven innings and giving up seven
hits and three runs with no walks and four strikeouts. Shawn Kelley pitched an inning giving up a
hit and a run.
Granderson had
two hits and two RBI, Ruben Tejada had a hit and Daniel Murphy had a hit. Lucas Duda had a hit and two RBI, Juan Uribe
had a hit and Kevin Plawecki had a hit.
Juan Lagares had a pinch hit, Tejada and Lagares each hit a double and
Duda and Granderson each hit a homerun.
The Mets were 1-3 with runners in scoring position and left three men on
base. Tejada committed an error.
Will Venable had
a hit, Yangervis Solarte had a hit and Yonder Alonso had a hit. Abraham Almonte had a hit which was a
double. The Padres were 0-5 with runners
in scoring positiona dn left three men on base.
Alonso committed an error.
In the first
Duda hit a two run homerun to give the Mets a 2-0 lead. In the eighth Granderson hit a two run
homerun to make it 4-0 and that was the final score. The Mets and Padres will play game two of
three on Wednesday night.
