The New York Mets get back on track with a comeback win over the Colorado Rockies



The New York Mets defeated the Colorado Rockies on Monday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 4-2 Mets.  Jon Niese started for the Mets and pitched well, the bullpen did their job.  Travis d'Arnaud had two hits to lead the offense and Daniel Murphy had a big two run single. 

Niese pitched seven innings giving up six hits and two runs with no walks and five strikeouts.  He won his seventh game of the season.  Tyler Clippard pitched a perfect inning and Jeurys Familia saved his 31st game of the season pitching a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

Jon Gray started for the Rockies and he pitched six innings giving up one hit and one run with two walks and five strikeouts.  Justin Miller pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and three runs with two walks, Boone Logan pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and Scott Oberg pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Curtis Granderson had an RBI, Murphy had a hit and two RBI and Lucas Duda had a hit.  d'Arnaud had two hits and an RBI, Michael Conforto drew a walk and Niese drew a walk.  Ruben Tejada drew two walks, d'Arnaud hit a homerun and the Mets were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Niese had a pickoff. 

Jose Reyes had a hit, D.J. LeMahieu had a hit and Carlos Gonzalez had a hit and two RBI.  Nick Arenado had a hit, Nick Hundley had two hits and Gonzalez hit a homerun.  The Rockies were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Reyes was picked off by Niese. 

In the second d'Arnaud hit a solo homerun giving the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Gonzalez hit a two run homerun to give the Rockies a 2-1 lead.  The Mets took back the lead for good in the seventh.  Granderson got hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to tie the game at two and Murphy hit a two run single to give them a 4-2 lead which would be the final score.  The Mets ended their two game losing streak and took the first of this four game series.
