The New York Mets defeated the
Colorado Rockies on Sunday afternoon.
The game took place at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado and the final
score was 5-1 Mets. Logan Verrett
started for the Mets in place of Matt Harvey who was skipping a turn and he
pitched great. Daniel Murphy had two
hits and Michael Conforto had three hits to lead the offense.
Verrett pitched eight innings
giving up four hits and a run with a walk and eight strikeouts. He won his first game of the season. Hansel Robles pitched an inning giving up a walk
and he struck out two.
David Hale lost his fifth game of
the season pitching six innings and giving up six hits and five runs with four
of them being earned. he walked two and
struck out nine. Simon Castro pitched
two innings giving up two hits and he struck out one and Jairo Diaz pitched an
inning giving up a walk and a strikeout.
Curtis Granderson ahd a hit and
drew a walk, Yoenis Cespedes drew a walk and Murphy had two hits and an
RBI. Wilmer Flores had a hit and an RBI,
Conforto had three hits and Anthony Recker had a hit, an RBI and drew a
walk. Murphy hit a double, Recker and
Conforto each hit a double as well. The
Mets were 3-14 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on
base. Granderson had a stolen base and
Conforto had an outfield assist.
Charlie Blackmon had a hit, D.J.
LeMahieu had a hit and drew a walk and Carlos Gonzalez had a hit and an
RBI. Nolan Arenado had a hit, Dustin
Garneua drew a walk and Gonzalez hit a homerun.
The Rockies were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left four men
on base. Gonzalez committed an error
In the first Murphy hit an RBI
double to give the Mets a 1-0 lead. In
the second a wild pitch made it 2-0 Mets.
Another wild pitch made it 3-0 and in the third a Flores RBI single made
it a 4-0 game. Recker hit an RBI double
in the third to increase the lead to 5-0.
The Rockies got their only run in the fourth on a Gonzalez solo
homerun. The Mets took the three games
and won the games by scoring 33 three runs.
The Mets will head to Philadelphia to take on the Phillies beginning on
Monday night.
