The New York Yankees were defeated
by the Cleveland Indians on Thursday night.
The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the
final score was 3-2. Ivan Nova started
and was very shaky, the bullpen was good tossing four shutout innings. The offense didn't do much other then Alex
Rodriguez homerun and Carlos Beltran RBI single.
Nova pitched five innings giving up
three runs on six hits, he walked two and struck out four and lost his fifth
game of the season. Adam Warren gave up
one hit in two scoreless innings and struck out two batters and Chris Capuano
pitched two scoreless innings giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout.
Josh Tomlin pitched seven innings
giving up two hits and a run with two walks and six strikeouts and won his
first game of the season. Bryan Shaw
pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and Cody Allen pitched
an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout and picked
up his 24th save of the season.
Rodriguez had two hits and an RBI,
Beltran had a hit and an RBI and Greg Bird drew a walk. Chase Headley had a hit, Stephen Drew had a
hit and drew two walks and Headley hit a double. Rodriguez hit a homerun and the Yankees were
1-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.
Jeff Kipnis had three hits, Michael
Brantley had two hits and an RBI and Carlos Santana drew two walks. Lonnie Chisenhall had a hit and an RBI,
Abraham Almonte drew a walk and Giovanny Urshela had a hit. Jose Ramirez had a hit and an RBI, Chisenhall
and Brantley hit a double and the Indians were 2-9 with runners in scoring
position and left six men on base.
Kipnis was caught stealing.
In the second Chisenhall hit an RBI
double to give the Indians a 1-0 lead.
In the third Brantley hit an RBI single to make it 2-0 Indians. Ramirez hit an RBI single to increase the Indians
lead to 3-0. In the fourth Rodriguez hit a solo homerun to
cut the lead to 3-1 Indians. In the
ninth Beltran hit an RBI single to make it 3-2 but that would be how the game
ended. The two teams will play game two
of four on Friday night.
