The New York Mets defeated the Atlanta Braves
on Thursday night. The game took place at
Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 6-2. Matt Harvey started for the Mets and pitched
well. Neil Walker had two hits and
Travis d’Arnaud and Wilmer Flores each had two RBI to lead the Mets
offense.
Harvey pitched 6 2/3 innings giving
up three hits and two runs with no walks and four strikeouts. He earned his first victory of the
season. Jerry Blevins pitched to one
batter and struck him out, Fernando Salas pitched an inning giving up three
hits and no runs and he struck out two and Addison Reed pitched a perfect
inning with a strikeout.
Jaime Garcia pitched six innings
giving up six hits and four runs with two walks. Garcia took his first loss of the
season. Chaz Roe pitched an inning
giving up two hits and two runs with one of them being earned and he struck out
one and Eric O’Flaherty pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.
Jose Reyes had a hit, Asdrubal
Cabrera had a hit and an RBI and Yoenis Cespedes had a hit and drew a
walk. Flores had a hit and two RBI,
Curtis Granderson had a hit and Walker had two hits. Jay Bruce drew a walk, d’Arnaud had a hit and
two RBI and Cespedes, d’Arnaud and Walker each hit a double. Flores hit a homerun and the Mets were 2-7
with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.
Ender Inciarte had a hit, Matt Kemp
had two hits and two RBI and Nick Markakis had a hit. Adonis Garcia had a hit, Tyler Flowers had a
hit and Kemp hit two homeruns. The
Braves were 1-3 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base. Swanson committed an error.
In the fifth Kemp hit a solo
homerun to give the Braves a 1-0 lead.
In the bottom of the fifth d’Arnaud hit a two-run double to give the
Mets a 2-1 lead. In the sixth Flores hit
a two-run homerun to extend the lead to 4-1.
Kemp hit a solo homerun in the seventh to cut the lead to 4-2. Cabrera hit an RBI single in the bottom of
the seventh and Cespedes grounded into a force out and a run scored on an error
to make it a 6-2 game. 6-2 would be the final
score.
The Mets took two out of three from
the Braves and will host the Miami Marlins in a three game series beginning on
Friday night.
