New York Yankees rally to take series over the Toronto Blue Jays


The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 8-6.  CC Sabathia started and was not good at all.  The bullpen was very good and Aaron Judge led the offense with three hits. 

Sabathia pitched four innings giving up seven hits and six runs with four walks and five strikeouts.  Adam Warren pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Tyler Clippard pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts and Dellin Betances won his third game of the season pitching 1 1/3 perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts.  Aroldis Chapman earned his sixth save of the season pitching a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Marcus Stroman pitched three innings giving up six hits and five runs with three walks and two strikeouts.  Ryan Tepera pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and three walks, Joe Biagini pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up four hits and three runs with five strikeouts and he took his first loss of the season and Joe Smith pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two walks and a strikeout.  Roberto Osuna pitched an inning striking out the side. 

Brett Gardner had two hits and drew two walks, Aaron Hicks had an RBI and drew three walks and Matt Holliday had a hit and three RBI.  Starlin Castro had two hits, Judge had three hits and two RBI and Chase Headley had a hit and drew a walk.  Chris Carter had two hits and an RBI, Ronald Torreyes drew a walk and Didi Gregorius had a hit and an RBI.  Kyle Higashioka drew a walk, Headley hit a double and Holliday and Judge each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 3-9 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.  Judge was caught stealing. 

Kevin Pillar had a hit and drew a walk, Jose Bautista had a hit and drew a walk and Russell Martin had an RBI and drew two walks.  Kendrys Morales had a hit and an RBI, Justin Smoak had a hit and an RBI and Steve Pearce had a hit, three RBI and drew a walk.  Darwin Barney ahd two hits, Ryan Goins had a hit and Barney hit a double and Pearce hit a homerun.  The Blue Jays were 3-13 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

In the first Smoak hit an RBI single and Pearce hit a three-run homerun to give the Jays a 4-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Holliday hit a three-run homerun to cut the lead to 4-3.  In the second Martin drew an RBI walk to push the lead to 5-3 and Morales grounded into a force out which scored a run and made it a 6-3 game.  In the third Judge hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 6-5.  In the seventh Carter hit an RBI single to tie the game at six and Gregorius hit an infield RBI single to give the Yankees a 7-6 lead.  Hicks drew an RBI walk to make it an 8-6 game and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees won two out of three in the series and will have the day off on Thursday.  They will begin a three game series in Chicago against the Cubs on Friday afternoon.
