The New York Mets were defeated by
the Washington Nationals on Tuesday. The
game took place at Nationals Park in Washington D.C. and the final score was
11-4. Seth Lugo started for the Mets and
he didn’t pitch well. Brandon Nimmo had
three hits and T.J. Rivera had two hits to lead the offense.
Lugo lost his second game of the
season pitching five innings and giving up ten hits and six runs. He walked two and struck out three. Erik Goeddel pitched 1/3 of an inning giving
up two runs and two walks with a strikeout, Josh Edgin pitched 2/3 of an inning
giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout and Neil Ramirez pitched
1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and two runs with two strikeouts. Chasen Bradford pitched 2/3 of an inning
giving up a hit.
Joe Ross pitched seven innings
giving up eight hits and two runs with three walks and six strikeouts. Ross won his fifth game of the season. Blake Treinen pitched an inning giving up a
hit and a strikeout and Oliver Perez pitched an inning giving up two hits and
two runs with a strikeout.
Reyes had a hit and an RBI,
Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit and drew a walk and Jay Bruce had a hit and two
RBI. T. Rivera had two hits, Lucas Duda
had a hit and Wilmer Flores had a hit and drew a walk. Rene Rivera had a hit, an RBI and drew a
walk, Nimmo had three hits and Reyes, R. Rivera and Bruce each hit a
homerun. The Mets were 0-4 with runners
in scoring position and left nine men on base.
Bruce committed an error and Nimmo had an outfield assist.
Michael Taylor had a hit and drew a
walk, Wilmer Difo had two hits and drew a walk and Bryce Harper had three hits,
two RBI and drew a walk. Daniel Murphy
had four hits and five RBI, Adam Lind had a hit and an RBI and Ryan Raburn had
a hit, two RBI and drew a walk. Stephen
Drew had a hit, Jose Lobaton had a hit and drew a walk. Drew, Raburn and Murphy each hit a double and
the Nationals were 6-14 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on
base. Taylor had a stolen base.
In the first Reyes hit a solo
homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead. In
the third Harper hit an RBI single to tie the game at one. Murphy hit an RBI single to give the Nats a
2-1 lead. In the fourth R. Rivera hit a
solo homerun to tie the game at two. In
the fifth Harper hit an RBI single to give the Nationals a 3-2 lead, Murphy hit
an RBI single to extend the lead to 4-2, Raburn hit a two-run double to push
the lead to 6-2. In the sixth Murphy hit
a two-run single and Lind hit an RBI ground out to make it a 9-2 game. In the eighth Harper hit an RBI single and
Murphy an RBI double to make it 11-2.
Bruce hit a two-run homerun in the ninth to cut the lead to 11-4 which
would be the final score.
