The New York Mets were defeated by
the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday.
The game took place at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
and the final score was 3-1. Steven Matz
started for the Mets and he pitched ok.
The Mets offense only managed three hits.
Matz lost his sixth game of the
season pitching 5 2/3 innings and giving up four hits and two runs. He walked two and struck out one. Chasen Bradford pitched 1 1/3 perfect with a
strikeout and Erik Goedeel pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two
walks and a strikeout.
Aaron Nola pitched seven innings
giving up two hits and a run with two walks and eight strikeouts. Nola won his ninth game of the season. Ricardo Pinto pitched an inning with two
walks and two strikeouts, Hoby Milner pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit
and Luis Garcia pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a strikeout and he saved his
second game of the season.
Brandon Nimmo drew a walk, Jose
Reyes drew a walk and Yoenis Cespedes had a hit and an RBI. Michael Conforto drew a walk, Asdrubal
Cabrera had a hit and Amed Rosario had a hit.
Curtis Granderson drew a walk, Rosario hit a double and Cespedes hit a
homerun. The Mets were 0-3 with runners
in scoring position and left six men on base.
Rosario was caught stealing.
Cesar Hernandez had a hit and an
RBI, Freddy Galvis had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Odubel Herrera had a
hit. Tommy Joseph had an RBI, Nick
Williams had a hit and drew two walks and Maikel Franco had a hit. Cameron Rupp drew a walk and the Phillies
were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. Rupp had a passed ball.
In the fourth Cespedes hit a solo
homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead. In
the fifth Hernandez hit an RBI single to tie the game at one. Galvis hit an RBI single to give them a 2-1
lead and in the eighth Joseph hit a sac fly to push the lead to 3-1.
The two teams will play the third
and final game of the series on Sunday afternoon.
